Glenda, welcome to the forum! I felt just like you about a month ago, so overwhelmed & so many places to choose from. Steve & I originally said we wanted to get married in Cabo, but then after doing some research we found out that to travel to cabo from mass (where we live) it was going to be pretty expensive for flights, as Tammy said a couple posts back. We were trying to keep the trip affordable for friends & family, so we decided against cabo and chose dreams cancun. There are a lot of beautiful resorts in riviera maya and cancun if you want somewhere that won't cost so much for flights. But if that doesn't matter then there is tons of information on cabo here, lots of cabo brides who will be able to give you tons of great advice! Good Luck in your planning!

You guys are so unbelievably nice!!! I'm a lawyer and live in New York where wedding planning is cutthroat and everyone is competitive so I'm not used to friendly people who want to help you. Thank you all so much for your input. When I started researching Cabo I saw that I could get flight + all inclusive accomodations to Dreams for like $791 a person. I didn't think that was so bad. I've been to Riviera Maya at an all inclusive before and it was close to $900 (for flight +hotel) for 3 nights and 4 days. Is it cheaper to do a wedding at RM than Cabo? Or were you just referring to the flight costs? By the way, when you guys did your travel arrangements did you have guest make their own arrangements or did you work with a travel agent? I was told about Protravel who will do all the travel arrangements and coordinate your wedding as well. I was quoted a price of $770 for everything. Do you think it is worth it?

$770 for everything? o my that is so cheap, is that for 3-4 days or 1 week?? Im getting married at Dreams on May 3rd flying out from Toronto and its' approx $2000 CAN for us per person so if u can do it for that cheap I would totally go for it...as for arranging for ur guests that tends to b very difficult and al ot of us have had amny problems with that...so my best advice it to let them know where they can purchase the tickets from and let them do it on their own, or trust me it will get difficult if u do it all especially for such a large group

Edyta,

$2,000 sounds like a lot!!! How did you book your travel arrangments? Did you go through a travel agent or did you do it online on your own? How long are you staying? I did a search on expedia from May 3- May 9 (6 nights 7 days) from Toronto and they had hotel + airfaire in the low $1,000. They were quoting a Dreams package for $1,200. I think if you had worked with a travel agent she could have gotten you an even better deal. Are you locked into that price? I know this is really inconvenient for your and your guest but you could fly from Toronto to NYC with Jet Blue for like $99 and then fly on any other airline to Cabo for the $700. I mean if your guest don't mind paying $2,000 then that's great but it seems pricey.

prices tend to b a lot more for us, I booked through selloffvacations their the cheapest usually and May happens to b high season so prices are higher...the resort is also fully booked for the beginning of May...the price actually sounds reasonable to be that is how much we usually pay for all inclusive packages...my parents and friends are staying for one week and my Fi and i are staying for 2 weeks

Oh that makes sense. I didn't realize you were staying so long. Yes $2,000 sounds reasonable for that length of time. Do you have any pics of Dream? I was thinking of doing it there as well. And it seems like a lot of brides on this board are getting married/have gotten married there as well. Do you find the prices to be reasonable for the reception? Oh and Karla I would love to get any information from you about Sunset Da Mona Lisa. Thanks.

ok, i just did a search for 3 nights from from new york to sjd and it is in the high $700's BUT the flight is over 25 hours long (one way!). you can fly halfway across the world in that time. did you check the flight times on expedia?

I can guarantee that it would be cheaper and easier for your guests to fly out from the east coast to RM area.

if $$ and time is not an issue and you have your heart set on cabo then you should def. go for it but you need to be realistic with yourself about the situation.

25 hours? I might as well get married in Australia!! LOL. I actually didn't even pay attention to the time. Thank you for pointing that out. I think you are right RM may be better!! I am defenitly going to start doing research on that. Do you guys have any recommendations for placed in RM? I know Excellence is supposed to be nice but it seems pricey to ask guests to spend that much.

  • Excellence (beautiful, low rooms start at low $400 per night/dbl occupancy)
  • The Royal (Royal Porto Real) Great location in PDC
  • Dreams
  • Riu PALACES!
  • Occidental resorts

there are so many choices.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
