Back to square one...maybe two..Please Help!!

Recommended Posts

So we wanted to get married at Dreams Cancun, our date was unavailable. We tried another date (that was available 6 hours before) and it was then gone too. I am so frustrated and stressed and ready to just throw it all away and head to the county court house. Please help, I need some advice.

- We wanted to do a Saturday wedding because we have so many guests that have limited time off with jobs... If we can't get a Saturday at Dreams, should we try for a Friday or Sunday or should we try another resort all together.

- If we do decide to go to another resort, I need some help on picking one. I love the gazebo area at Dreams and picked it because of that and their reasonable pricing. Are there any other places with similar attributes in the area?

Please give me ANY advice that you can think of... I really really don't want to get married in Illinois sad.gif

We had a Sunday wedding and I LOVE how the timing turned out.. Many of our guests arrived Friday (mid-day) we had a welcome dinner that evening. and went out partying that night (our group always goes BIG on the first night!).. Saturday was hang out at the pool (aka nurse your hangover with more cocktails)..

With a Sunday wedding I didn't have to worry about people being hungover during our ceremony and they were able to enjoy the evening reception.

Some guests could only stay Friday-Monday so they left the next morning

(some family).. others stayed until Tuesday.. and then a few others stayed til Wednesday. You should consider Sunday..

I had a Friday wedding and we were able to do a group event the next day and other people, like my dad and stepmom who really needed a little weekend away, went to another hotel to have a romantic vacation of their own. So honestly I would prefer a Friday or Sunday wedding. You can do something just before or just after the wedding with your guests and then some people can stay-some people will go, some will come early and have a little vacation too

Well from one Chicagoan to another... you are going to get the cheapest and direct flights out of ORD to CUN on Wensdays and Saturdays. We got married on a Thursday, had our guests either come out on Sat before or Wends before so they had a day buffer before (or more) and a day after to recoporate.

Oh and don't worry.. I was super freaked about my Saturday not being available and feeling super stressed like time was just ticking away and I had to make a decision or just die.. lol you'll probably go through that feeling a zillion times especially when you don't hear back from your coordinator.

Pick a time that works for you and your VIP guests.. when you do a destination wedding the date isn't as important because you aren't worried about people having to work the next day.. they're on vacation and people who go are going to stay more than 2 nights (3 min.)

Ours is on a Friday. That way people who can't stay for the week can come Thurs and leave Sun and only miss 2 days of work. Plus, they can party and still have a day at the resort to recover. Didn't want anyone to have a long van ride followed by a plane trip with a hangover. Nothing worse than travel for a hangover.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
