BDW for Dummies...Searching Edition

Recommended Posts

For example, the other day I needed information on the restaurants at the Sheraton resort in Cabo. Instead of posting a new thread that said "Does anyone know anything about the restaurants at the Sheraton?", I proceeded to do a search and found lots of reviews from members who had already gotten married there. I also did my own searches on trip advisor and google to get more info. I was not able to find any pictures of the inside of a specific restaurant so I PMed two different members (who had been married there) and asked them their personal opinions on that restaurant and I also asked if they could send me some pics (assuming they had any).

I got all the info I needed just by doing a search and asking a select few members. This saved the forum a lot of space than me starting a new thread and just having everyone direct me to the old Sheraton threads anyway. See, its very useful to do a search.

Definitly true. Maybe if some regulars start hijacking more it will become the norm.

Other forums will attack you if you repost something. I think it's great that we never attack anyone here, but something needs to be done to cut down on the redundancy. Thanks for this thread! I'm off to make one just like it :)

Thanks, Glenda! I have noticed that I haven't been replying to threads as much because I feel like I'm answering the same question or issue that I did 6 months ago. Hopefully a lot of less repetitive threads will make the forum run a lot smoother.

BTW - I love your new siggy pic!

Good Job Glenda!

I think that the more people post the same things the less people actually respond, so if people use the search first they're likely to get more answers to their question through the old threads, then they will if they repost and no one wants to answer the same question for the 23rd time.

Question: What about the ongoing threads? Like the ones for the brides getting married at X Resort....are we allowed to keep those alive?

I know some where even started with the intentions of keeping topics all in one place instead of starting a new thread each time a question needed to be asked....Do the long ass threads take up a lot of bandwith too?

Like our Gran Bahia thread is a few pages long. Is it cool to keep using it for questions we have?

I hope I am making sense,....I am sleeeeeeeepy.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
