Married or going to be married at Grand Palladium Punta Cana?

Recommended Posts

We are doing a symbolic ceremony because the amount of paperwork for the civil was ridiculous. 10 days to go and everything seems to be all set. We booked Jorge Allocco as our photographer and I'm really looking forward to some relaxing time on the beach. Praying the weather forecast changes for the better! Good luck!

I am SO ANGRY THAT I CAN HARDLY SEE STRAIGHT! I received an email 15 minutes ago from the wedding coordinator, Carolina saying that as of tomorrow and through the time of our wedding, she is going on a scheduled vacation!!!! No notice at all...just an email the night before she is going saying that she won't be there and that her assistant will be handling everything. How incredibly unprofessional! We are leaving in 4 days and the wedding is in a week and now, all of a sudden, the person who has been coordinating the entire thing up and disappears!?!? Trying to keep calm and not become bridezilla but c'mon! Any person would be furious at this point! :(

Hello

I got married at the GP Punta Cana in June 2012.  As far as the planning, most you will do once you meet with Carolina or her assistant (Kenia).  You are handed a book which includes: bouquet, boutonniere, chair sash (various colours to choose from), cake (vanilla, chocolate), and extra services (horse & carriage, musical trio, clothes steam, DJ, live music, open bar).  You will also choose your dinner menu (1 appetizer, 1 main course, 1 dessert), and music.

My wedding was as such:

  • Silver Renewal of Vows Package 2012
  • 3pm: Ceremony @ Oceanview Gazebo (highly recommend the gazebo).  When I initially booked the wedding I specified that I wanted the ceremony at the Oceanview Gazebo. Ceremony lasted about 20 minutes. We had a symbolic wedding performed by Carolina, and we had a sand ceremony included.
  • 3:30 - 6pm:  Photo session with Caribbean Emotions (recommend this company to cover your photography.  Michael and Pascal are great!.).  Also booked a Trash the Dress session the day after the wedding (highly recommend).
  • 6pm-8:30pm:  Dinner reception at Sumptuori.  Venue and whether it's private vs non-private dinner comes at a cost and depends on the number of people in your party.
  • 9pm-12pm:  We included a Private Beach Party and hired the resort DJ for $300 for 3 hours and Open Bar @ $12pp for 3 hours. This was an extra service and needed to be booked prior to arrival since it was dependent on availability.  We took our own music on an ipod and CD and handed it to the DJ.

Just a heads up, you will often see in your emails "Will confirm upon arrival".  Nothing is set in stone, your ceremony time may change, dinner venue (ours was changed, but we were happy with the result).

As far as decorations, I bought:

-raffia fans (huge hit with guests)

-sand ceremony kit

-centerpieces for dinner which we also used for beach party (vase, orchids, submersible lights and clear beads)

-sandal luggage tags favours

-on Esty I found these adorable sugar starfish boutonnieres ($5.50 each)

-instead of a traditional guest book, we took a signature picture frame

-rose petals

-Bride and Groom signs

-Love sign for the cake table

I would suggest you ask her to send you the "Options for the set menu" and "Wedding Services" files.  If you want more information or photos,  I'd be willing to forward them to you.  Like it's been said before, don't stress because the wedding coordinators will take care of everything.

Good luck.  msnwink.gif

Hi Elektrokitty,

Thanks for all your helpful info.  I've been asked time and time again how the planning is going and really - there's nothing for me to do!  Knowing that Carolina takes care of everything just makes me feel even better about it.

Would you mind sending me pics of your wedding?  I'd love to see them :)  My email is dawnlevesque@hotmail.com

Also, just to confirm, we want to do a beach party afterwards as well.  If we had 20 people, would it be $540.00 ($300 plus $12 per person)?  Or was the $300 just for the DJ and not the party?

Thanks,

Dawn

Elektrokitty,

Is Caribbean Emotions the resort photography? I am getting married at GP Punta Cana in April 2013 and I am looking at different photographers but I can't find any photos from the resort photographer.

Thanks,

Julianna

Hi Everyone,

I am getting married in April 2013 and I was wondering if anyone has gotten their pictures taken from the resort photography? Or who are some recommended photographers?

Thanks,

Julianna

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
