Did anyone do a private reception? I'm thinking we are going to have around 30 guests and a private reception just seems like the best way to go.

Hey kweigl25! I'm actually getting married there on 30 Nov and we just decided to change from the beach party to the private reception. We thought it would provide a nice vibe after the cocktail hour (we are still working out the details. I'm also wondering about the aisle runner and the exact length as well. Interested in seeing what people have to say with this b/c it would certainly help me out.

i was told by Carolina that it is 42feet but two brides told me that i'm safe with 30ft....so 30 it is....i can't imagine the gazebo (by the beach) being 42 ft...from the bottom of the stairs to the edge of the gazebo seems like there's enough space for 5-7 rows of chairs....

Hi Ladies!! I have been following this forum for weeks and finally decided to join the conversation :) We are getting married at the GPPC January 27, 2014. I am in the midst of working out the details with Caroline and JUST found out about the $500 fee for an outside photographer. I am totally disgruntled with this. We are bringing at least 30 guests to their hotel that otherwise would have never even heard of the place. $500 is a lot of money when we are already bringing the hotel so much $$$ with our wedding. Ok, that's my rant about that...

I initially wanted the private beach party but after crunching the numbers and weighing my options I have decided the private reception is going to work best for us. Has anyone on here done this? I am unclear on what to expect as far as location and schedule of events for the private reception. ANY insight would be greatly appreciated!!

Hello everyone! Okay, I have a few more questions for those that have done the civil wedding.  I was told that the following was translated from Spanish to English for a civil ceremony.  Can anyone confirm this?

We are gathered here today with the objective of uniting in a civil marriage Sheri and Edward who
have decided to change their civil status from single, to the honourable status of being married.
Marriage is an institution; it is an admirable status which has its origins in the solemn contract celebrated
between one man and one woman, who of their own free will… wish to marry, with the object to
love, honour and care for each other mutually.
To celebrate this marriage, it is necessary that there is no opposition, if anyone here knows of any legal
reason to prevent this event, must speak now or remain in silence forever.
Edward do you take Sheri as your legitimate wife, do you promise to love her, honour her, care for her
and protect her in the good times and the bad times, in richness and in poverty, in sickness and in
            health?.
As a sign of this promise, please place the ring on Wedding finger of your bride
Sheri do you take Edward as your legitimate husband, do you promise to love him, honour him, care for
him and protect him in the good times and the bad times, in richness and in poverty, in sickness and in
            health?
As a sign of this promise, please place the ring on the wedding Finger of your groom.
I, Juan Julio Rijo, official of the civil State of Punta Cana, have heard from Edward & Sheri their wish to
marry, and having heard no opposition to their marriage, having met with all the legal requirements
needed by the Matrimonial Law in the Dominican Republic, on Tuesday Decemeber 9th 2008 and in
front of the witnesses, I declare you, husband & Wife.

If this is the case I would like to add a few words (not change whats in that official reading) to have that added personalized touch. Has anyone asked Carolina to say a few words prior to the civil reading and afterwards I would like to have a sand ceremony and then be pronounced husband and wife. Does anyone know if it's possible or have had Carolina done something like this for their wedding? The words I would add would be no more than 3 minutes and the sand ceremony takes 2 minutes.  Anyone think this is possible?

            Thanks so much!

I am doing a civil service as well and have been told it will be in Spanish with translation. From what I have tag on this board it is possible to add your own vows to personalize it a bit. I have heard anything about the sand ceremony.

Right the portion above I don't intend on changing.  But prior to this reading I'd like to add a little bit of a personal touch and it flows right into the official reading.  I'll have to see if Carolina can do this.  I'm also wondering if there are any Pastor's in Punta Cana who may be able to do this initial reading and then the judge would perform the rest.  The sand ceremony is an added touch prior to the reading and really shouldn't take much time.  Hmmm...it would be nice to be able to do that.

Now, I have to figure out the order of events, and where to have the cocktail hour...  decisions decisions...

                  hi ladies :)

Carolina sent me an email with pics for the options for the SEMI private restaurants....it's either La Cantina (mexican), El Quijote, or Mare Nostrum.....

i've read through the forums here and i've heard of the mexican restaurant (which is a no)...and el quijote (which is possibly what I'm goin to end up choosing)...but i've never heard or seen the name "MARE NOSTRUM" restaurant.....if anyone is familiar with it, can you please let me know if it's a nice restaurant?....which, in your opinion, is the best restaurant for dinner? we have about 25 ppl coming down with us.  thank you so much! :)
