Are there any brides here that live in Toronto?  We are now in the process of save the dates, and trying to figure out where the best place is the print them.

Congrats to all you ladies!

That's a good question about the marriage certificate! I think you do, but when I get that confirmed from Carolina I will let you know! I have heard that some brides used both the steam service and the spa and they were pleased but I don't remember which bride! (I've been reading this forum for a while!) When is your date again guke30?

I have a few more questions if anyone can help I am getting legally married at home before we go do I need to show my marriage lisense or cert. for the renewal of vows?

Has any past bride used the steaming service for their wedding dress and how it turned out?

Also past brides who had their hair and makeup done at the spa were you happy with everything?

Thanks so much ladies for the help I am stressing a little and I know I have nothing to worry about.

Welcome to the forum!! We booked our trip and I got my dress early too, but I am so glad I did! Helped with my stress!! To be honest, we didn't do save the dates! I looked into it, but we decided to just send our invitations super early. As part of our deal with our TA, they printed invitations for us with all the travel info on it so we just sent that with an additional little letter we typed. Not very fancy, but it worked!

I don't remember who else is getting married in January! I had a minor meltdown last night, I feel like there's so much to do but there's not really. I guess most of the planning happens down there! We figured out some of our music but still need to come up with vows. Does anyone know how long the "aisle" is for the beach gazebo? Are you guys having your FI and the groomsman walk down the aisle before you or will they just be up there? I need some other brides opinions! I also cannot believe I am stressed over something as simple as that!!!! embarrest.gif

Thanks Sheila2011 I have sent carolina an email asking her about the cert and she has not gotten back to me yet, I would really like to know so then I can pick the date for my ceremony at home, I really want to do it right before we go but if I need the cert. it will have to be sooner as you need to mail your license away to get cert. My date in DR is March 30,2011 exactly 4 months from today and I can't wait!

I emailed her regarding the increase and she said it was definitely only legal ceremonies that were increasing in price. Thank goodness because I was a little nervous about an increase in price lol. I'm relieved!

Hi ladies, not sure if anyone else has heard yet, so sorry for me to be the first to say it - civil wedding rates are going up as of Dec. 1. That means, after this date, those of getting married by a judge have to pay $150 more than previously quoted. So for the GP, this means the regular package goes from $1350 to $1500 and the diamond package is not $1750. I can send you the price list from my TA if you want it...it's the same as the old package other than the price increase.

Also, this increase applies to ALL resorts in the DR, not just the GP. It is a policy passed by the Dominican Government. I'm not totally sure if those of us who booked before this news came into effect will be able to pay the old or if we are subject to the new price (my guess is we will have to pay the increase by law...I'll let ya know when my TA gets back to me on that one).

Oops, just saw this now...so much happens when you miss a day or so! lol

But yes, it only applies to legal ceremonies, not symbolic, as it is a government law leading to the increase...however, the resorts may decide to raise the symbolic prices, as well - but so far they haven't.

Hi Chell,

Not sure if Carolina mentioned but does this only apply to Legal ceremonies? Did she mention if the symbolic packages have gone up in price too?

Hey Ladies,

I am responded to guke30 & Shiela2011...In regards to the marriage certificate question, I was told you will need to provide a copy of it if you are having a symbolic wedding only. I have actually been married since Memorial Day this year...yes I am a married woman but only did it because it saved such a hassle in the DR in regards to filling out paperwork,, bloodwork, etc. So my destination wedding specialist and Carolina have advised me to make sure I bring a copy of my marriage certificate.

Hope this helps!

Hello Everyone - Thanks for all the info here. Very helpfull. My Fiancé and I are getting married at the GP first week of April 2011. We're staying at the Royal Turquesa. There are some questions I haven't found answer for. Please help. I have been 3 nights at it now.

1) Do you really need 20 guests (we only have 10) to get the reception-diner directly on the beach (no party)?

2) Is the reception diner on the beach worth it or more often than not it's too windy, cold, hot, bugs, etc.? Can you decide to go to the restaurant at the last minute?

3) For a small diner with 10 guests,  with no party/dance, just a fun quite diner with our families, which restaurant would you suggest?

4) I see people having music during their ceremony. We wanted the sound of  the wave breaking on the beach to be our music. If we're at the Palace Gazebo, are we going to ear them. Is that enough or are we loosing something without music?

Thanks for everything

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
