I stayed 2 weeks at the Palladium. I was going to stay one week then go to another area of the DR for my 2nd, but we changed our mind.

If you can take 2 weeks take 2 because your first week will just be worrying about wedding stuff and the days fly by really fast there. 2 weeks was perfect, 3 would have been too long

awww... I wanted to do 2 week.. but the FI thought it'd be to long. But I told him we will be worrying about wedding stuff first week, and attending to our guest we wont even feel like we were on vacation in the caribbean like we usually do.

I am not a happy camper right now. I will call our operator and see if we can add an extra week and see how our finances are.

Wish me luck girls.. I need it.. more then that I need an extra week in Punta Cana!!! lol

well Mark and I probably worried about wedding stuff more the first week then other brides will

You will have 2 meetings with Carolina, 1 the day after you arrive, and one the day before your wedding, they are roughly 1/2 hr long, but it seems to dominate you day anytime you need to be anywere at a certain time

we also met with the photographer because we had some questions about the packages and Mark's folk's ended up paying and wanted to meet with him

We then had a meeting with the videographer to arrange a ceremony only video package.

We also had guests arriving on 2 other days then our arrival, so that again ate up some time in terms of waiting around to greet them in the lobby

Ohh to add the extra week it's only a few hundred more each!! Such a good deal!! :) We weren't sure if we could afford it also - but it was 1293 for one week, and will be around 2000 for the two weeks! That includes the updrade to the Royal Turquesa Suites! I am happy to have the chance to relax after the wedding.

The resort confirmed our date of June 28!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so excited, and frantically trying to contact everyone to tell them deposits will need to be made!! I feel bad that it's RIGHT before Christmas!!

we had square tables all put together, but I know they have round tables at the a La cartes, they sit about 5 people each, but we squeezed in 6 on a regular basis

I don't think I went to El Bohio, but the buffets are usually set up like a cafeteria, some are in an L shape. I am sure Carolina will try to set you up in an area by yourselves

I need to vent - so I called my parents to let them know about the date and to tell them we would be putting the deposit down for everyone today or tomorrow. My dad hesitated and then told me that my sister was humming and hawing over the price. She called me an hour ago to tell me she can't afford to come. I am SO hurt and don't know what to do....I can't believe she would do this, she is a single mom but I looked for resorts where children had a special rate. She's known for over a year that we were doing this, and backed out before but then changed her mind after she thoguht about it. My dad also warned me that my brother is doing the same thing -- so to prepare that he may not come either. I was expecting that because he lives out west and cannot afford to get home, plus he is starting a new job. But my sister...she was my MOH...I am SOOO hurt and can't believe this is happening. Plus, I need to see her at my parents for Christmas, I do not even feel like going anymore. I can't stop crying sad.gif

Sorry, I had to vent because I do not know what to do.

I am like you.. I will be worrying about the wedding stuff. Plus I will also be meeting our photographer before the day of thewedding. Plus I have a lot of people coming that has never been to the caribbean before. I know I'll feel like I have to hold their hands.. or at least make sure they are happy at all times. After all they are coming for us. We can't just stay on our side of the resort the whole week (tho that would be nice lol)
I'm am going to call right after I eat lunch, see if it's even an option to add another week. I'll let you all know.

It's what we are all here for.. to listen to people who need to vent, we are all going through something similar.
I am sooo sorry to hear about your brother and sister. I am imagine how disappointed it is (I am an only child) But if my parents couldn't make it, it'd also be heart broken.
I don't think our resort does it. But it could be something you may want to look into. I know Jamaica had it.
You can have your wedding on a live web cam, and you family can watch in LIVE. At least you and your siblings will feel like they were there in a way. And they don't get to miss out on the both of you tieing the knot.
Or... you could have a very small ceremony at home (either before or after) and just have a few close family members. It'd just be lik renewal of vowels.
again I am so sorry to see you so heart broken. sad.gif my heart goes out to you smile03.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
