Married or going to be married at Grand Palladium Punta Cana?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, boy this thread is moving fast.

I've been super busy doing an interior painting job making lots of $$ which is great, but it's murdering my hands. I hope they will recover in time for the wedding. I'm getting a mani and pedi here at home before I leave with by BFF.

Only about a month to go! OMG, Mark is off to Ottowa with work until a week before we leave, and we still need to pick a first dance song!!

I need to contact Jalu to confirm some stuff about prices and make sure it's ok that we don't book ahead. I was emailing with a guy who said it was ok, but I have a feeling that there have been major changes

Up to 19 people total, not as many as I hoped. The price is down to half of what we paid now!! Maybe more people will book. Meanwhile my mom has written a letter of complaint to Air Transat and has our TA batting for us, so at the least we might all get a room upgrade.

For starters - what are you ladies choosing to do with regards to photography? I was checking out the resort recommended "Jalu" and have not made up my mind. Thoughts? Has anyone selected Jalu? I am not interested in spending a small fortune on the services and would prefer to just have the digital images (no album/video/prints). I have asked for a couple estimates and would be interested in some additional feedback. Sadly the photographer we invited as a friend/family has declined to travel and celebrate with us.
Hi, I chose to go with HDC phogography.. Arnaud is the photographer.. his pictures are gorgeous and packages are great.

Welcome and greetings from Chicago!

If I were having an at home reception, I'd probably be less stressed about the photography since most guests will not be asking to see photos if they were in attendance. But since many friends, co-workers ect. will not be with us and will be asking to see pictures, it's become very important for me to have nice photos to capture that day.

I am going with Michael Weiler photography. PM if you would like to see the rates. His work on the website is fantastic. I'm choosing a "medium " sized package with the video. I wasn't going to splurge on the dvd and was hoping to have someone in my family film it with a camcorder but..my most tech-savy loved ones will be standing up with me in the bridal party (would be kinda hard for my sister to hold my bouqet and the camcorder lol).

Noon - looking forward to hearing from you regarding Jalu - good luck with the "last minute" stuff.

Were you not given an official time because it is a symbolic ceremony?

We have chosen to have a legal ceremony with a judge and have an approximate time of 4:30 on the 28th. The coordinator told me that they an only have 3 wedding per day with the judge (?). The time is subject the last minute change if the judge "gets called away on official duties". I am hoping that 4:30 will work and flow into the diner/reception nicely.

I've actually been spending more time trying to plan our AHR than the wedding in Punta Cana. For the wedding itself we have our date and time and I'm trying not to worry too much about all the other details. There's only 15 of us going down so we won't be having a private reception.

I went to the wedding show in Ottawa a few weeks ago and spoke with a destination wedding planner and she told me that GP in Punta Cana is her #1 choice for DW! It was reassuring to hear that as we all know Carolina can sometimes take time to answer emails!
Congrates again on your degree!!! I've always wanted to be a social worker, but my body wouldn't be able to handle the stress. Good for you!!! :)
Are you having a big fancy in town reception?
That's good to hear, we all picked a great resort to get married in. Orginally I picked Jamaica, Sunset Jamaica Grand. I was so ill with stress after. So I cancelled. After I picked Palladium, i never felt better about a decision that invloved the wedding , knowing I finaly picked something right lol..
I assume she takes forever to reply because she is the only coordinator there so she reply's e-mails and sets up wedding's. I admire her lol.

I was wondering how many wedding's they put on in a day.. somewhere someone said 3.. so maybe you'll find brides when you get there, they had no idea about this site. I hope for you too it's more in the afternoon. But I will be staying in my dress once it's on for the rest of the day I don't care what time I get married at lol. We spent so much on it, might as well use it as much as possible.

As for the dress, I'm not getting out of it until I have to, then I'm going to put on my other dress, which I got for the disco and the TTD.

But.....I don't want my ceremony in the AM. I really want an afternoon wedding sad.gif

PS - Tracy, You better get drunk with me so I'm not the only tacky drunk bride, I'm going to hold you to it!!! LOL
Oh believe me you, we'll be smashed together.. the 2 girls in pretty white wedding dress's lol so excited!!!

I got a confirmed time for our ceremony of 5pm, but Carolina didn't want to give it to me in the beginning. There are 2 other weddings going on the same day as me. We are being married by the judge at 1:30 (subject to change as per Carolina), and having our ceremony with Pastor Rick at 5pm. I told Carolina that I needed to know the time of the ceremony so Pastor Rick could schedule to be there, so she gave it to me.

I think she's more aprehensive to give times for the ceremony when she's relying on the judge to be there, but it also helped that we wanted to be married later in the evening than most want. We were also able to confirm a time for La Uva terrace, but once again it's because we want to eat later than most (8pm).

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
