I am looking for couples who would be interested into sharing the cost of a photographer: I have found a wonderfull photographer that lives in the Ottawa/Gatineau area.
the way it work's is that we can be 4 couples that get married within the two weeks of her stay, we split the cost of her trip and then we each pay for the photography package that we want.
exemple: 2118$/4= 530$ (trip) + 800$ (package) = 1330$

you can go see her web site Genevieve Albert, Photographe or on facebook genevieve albert photographe®, her e-mail adress is genevieve_albert@hotmail.com

we are already two couples interested in her services, so two more couples with us would be great :)

you can always pm me if you have any questions!!! :)
I think you have a cute idea! Do you really want to spend that much?! your paying someone to go on vacation, and then you have to pay for the package you want. Kinda seems allot?! I got a package from HCD for $690 or something like that. That is half the cost your photographer is charging. There is a few other photographer's in DR that would be half the cost. Just because people have to pay for their vaca. I thought i just let you know there is alot of photographer's in DR and it would be atleast have the price.
Let us know what you decided!! wink.gif

By chance did you find out if the arch on the beach is included in the package? I see alot of pics of ppls ceremony on the beach from our resort, they all have the arch... but when I look at the 'extras' it says $250 for the arch?!
I am doing my wedding in the gazebo. You can decide when you get there which location suits you, so I wouldn't stress over it until then. The gazebo area is awesome, private and picture perfect. The beach was nice too. There is an arch placed on the beach as well as at the gazebo. I think a special arch may cost extra, but she explained how there would be arches when describing the areas.
Also, they are building another gazebo closer to the beach. She was unsure when it would be complete, but stated that if it was done by time of our wedding, she would show it to us as an option as well. I loved the Bavaro gazebo and have no intention on changing my mind. The actual gazebo itself was basic in size and style, nothing fancy but the area overall was just lovely.

Feel free to post anything you are wondering about and I'll be more than happy to let you know what Carolina has told me. :)

Again, I don't know if there is a difference because of where we are staying in the resort. Bavaro vs Punta Cana.

I'm confused!!! I really thought I wanted the gazebo, Mike really wants the beach, and sence Carolina send me pics (Lindsay's Ceremony!!) I think I really like the beach too, I'm just really worried about the the half naked people in the background!! lol

And I heard from someone else on here, that the gazebo can be pretty noisey during the day becuase its up by the pool.....And in Mid April......there are going to be ALOT of people at the pool (and beach for that matter) sad.gif

I don't know what to do??

Hey MMTB - When I first asked Carolina about having the ceremony on the beach she did warn me about onlookers, however I have read that they have a resort security guard down by the water to stop people from walking by during the ceremony so to ensure they are not caught in the photos. I think this should suffice. I have seen a few beach weddings in the past, and people seem to be pretty respectful. Weather providing, I hope that our beach ceremony will be amazing. The gazebo does look beautiful as well though, but I didn't know it was near the pool. Agh, tough decisions, eh?

Urgghh

can someone explain to me why a centerpiece that consists of a couple candles, a mirror they reuse and some seashells they also reuse is going to cost me $65 each to rent!? I thought the high cost was from the callas lilies in the picture, but Carolina says that they are just the bride's bouquet that got in the shot

Now I wish I could bring something from home, but I am worried about my weight limit as is

I'm still unsure of where I want the ceremony as well. I think I would really love a beach wedding, but Carolina has also told me that they are building another gazebo near the beach, and that sounds pretty good too!

A question for the rest of you: Has Carolina confirmed times, or restauarants with any of you? Trying to get any kind of commitment out of her seems pretty difficult. We have the judge for sure at 1pm, but we have requested to have our actual ceremony later in the day (we are having Pastor York perform the ceremony which our guests will attend). Carolina has told me that there is another wedding that day, so she can't confirm anything until our arrival. I don't really get this because I would assume that it would be better to coordinate beforehand. All she has said is that she can take my requests and preferences into consideration...

I understand things are much more laid back down there, and I don't mind some compromise so that the other bride can have a wonderful day as well, but I also don't want to be left with the "leftovers" - you know what I mean?

So have any of you guys been able to confirm a restaurant, a ceremony time and/or location?

Hi DEH83,

Unfortunately Carolina is unable to confirm our ceremony time as well. I would love to know what time it's going to be at as I want to treat myself and wedding party to manicures and pedicures the morning of. I read that she gave the time of 10am to another bride to be, and I would be very stressed if this were the case for me. I have asked her for a 4pm ceremony but she told me the same as you, that it would be taken into consideration and that is all. I'm hoping the fact that we're having a "symbolic ceromony" and don't need a Judge will help the flexibility of everything, as I think Carolina will be the one performing our ceremony. I swear that she also told me that the centerpiece for the head table was included in the package, but any other centrepieces would cost extra. Nonnie, is the one you mention an upgrade?

I personally think this is a great idea. Pictures are probably THE most important part for me about my wedding. I tried contacting Photo Souvenir because I heard so many gread things about them, but they never contacted me again. I had debated bringing our own photographer down as well, but then it turned out that my friend who is a photographer (and whose work i love), was able to come down, and offered to do our wedding week as our wedding gift to us, so I am very happy in the end, and it was free!

But Isy-Beau, if I hadn't done this, I so would have been in! 1300.00 is a good price, and I've seen her work - it's fantastic! It will be nice too, since she is from Ottawa, so you won't feel rushed when selecting your packages and such.

Nice to see another Bride from Ottawa - your one day after me!

Carolina did confirm a time with me, however she warn me many times that the time may change for the ceremony, it depends on the judge, she gave me 2:30. But they way none of you got a time, I believe my time will change and I wont actually know until I arrive.(or the day before lol)

She also confirmed with me I am able to get the restaurant I wanted (La Uva) she did say how I might be shaing it with another bride, i hope it's you Courtney!!:)

If they build in time the gazebo over looking the ocean for my wedding, I will have to pick that. But I'm still stuck on the beach right now.

The way I see it, no matter where you are, poeple will be watching in their bathingsuites. I also was told the security is real good with keeping ppl back to avoid them in our pictures.

I was in the mind frame before, i didn't want ppl watching me. But then realize, ppl like weddings. Let them watch, it's not like their in the wedding lol!

I'm getting excited!!

Nonnie,

centerpiece: It's crazy how much they are charge , but I went to michaels yesterday, to make 4 centerpieces with 6 stem per, it would have cost me over $150. So I'm still looking for something other then spending 60$ per centerpiece.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
