Married or going to be married at Grand Palladium Punta Cana?

Recommended Posts

Kitty,

I do not want to be Debbie Downer but we had also requested from our travel agent to be put into the new section. I dont think that really matters because once you get there its your bargain with them. Actually once they did try to make up for the JR SUITE in Punta Cana section they placed us at RST in the new section with the nice pool.

They had given us a room I believe it was bldg 50 so rm 5007. That room did not look ANYTHING like the pictures on the trip advisor I have seen. I mean no white linens or that airy light look in the room. My JR Suite bed cover looked nicer because it was cream and that one was just typical hotel bed cover (colorful). Not to go into details the only  difference with that room was that it has a flat screen tv. The pictures that sold me were the ones on trip advisor with the luxurious rooms.

I do believe that higher floors have those rooms because even their balconies have nice white curtains flowing....yeah. But I do wonder if that is extra charge.

I was sooooo pissed off with them that I did not want to give up my JR SUITE at Punta Cana (dirty and all) and move to that little plain old room.

Chicago -

thatswck.gifThis is VERY dishearting...I have some rather picky people in my group who, like I said, are used to the best so I'm in dismay.  Hopefully getting down the day before everyone else will allow me to work on the rooms for everyone ensuring the the "picky" people get the nicer rooms. I just don't know how else to prepare for this.  I have booked a Romance Suite (along with both our parents and other guests) so I'm hoping that ours will be nice.  Most people have a junior swim up suite or romance suite with one honeymoon suite booked all in the RST section.

I think I've read that you can take them off, but there is a fee for a replacement?  Maybe Chicago can answer this for us....

@ Kitty

Believe me I had a tough crowd too. Coming from Chicago and having high expections I was terrified what they might think. Unfortunately it turned out the way it did.

What I would recommend is that if you're in the RST it cannot be worse than Punta Cana Section JR Suite. Just dont have too high of expectations. I am on trip advisor riight now looking at the pictures from RST. I just cannot believe that the room they have us looks nothing like this. No fancy pillows...nice curtains, bed with pillars/curtains which is what I had at JR Suite in Punta Cana section. Ughhh the more I look at this the more upset I get that they did not want to reimburse us our money. And here is the room they gave us...I finally found a pic on trip advisor

This is what the room they offered us looked like....bld 50 room 5007.....Am I crazy or did I expect something like this BELOW. THE ABOVE PICTURE IS IN THE NEW SECTION....if I had not been in the room I would have thought this room belong to the so called older section.

Yes they will let you take off the wrist but only BRIDE and GROOM. They would not allow our best men and MOH to take theirs off. Go figure....

Ladies if you're interested in how our wedding turned out here is a link from my photographer

It gives you an idea of the gazebo and the beach dinner reception for some of those who were asking.

Chicago... thanks for all the info! Glad to know we can take our bracelets off. I wonder for our TTD the day after if they will let us take them off? I guess we will deal with whatever we have to do!

I didn't get a pic of my dress actually, and now its at my grandfathers house lol.

I was wondering if anyone can give me the run down on the TTD session though. Do you tell them what you want or how does it work. I got them to switch to 5pm unless someone books a wedding. Unfortunately we are NOT morning people and pictures before noon are not going to look good on us lmao! Hopefully we can stick to the 5pm time! I kinda want nice pics and TTD pics. Maybe even pool pics? Do you get to choose between pool/beach? Can anyone explain how this works? Thanks in advance!

It all depends what you'd like. We met with our photographer a day before and just talked about what we'd like. Its all up to you. If you like beach pictures or pool. Black and white...posed or just spontaneous shots.

5-6pm in January, beach looks amazing with the sun setting and clouds changing colors. Your pictures will turn out great because it will be in april and you'll get more light and have time to play more with your photos.

Chicago.. Great news to hear! Thanks so much!

Also, if I were in the RST I would imagine the "modern" room not the other one. My mom said my travel agent mentioned trying to get us an upgrade. I told my mom I hope its to a Romance Suite in the Bavaro and not in the RST because I would only want to be on that side if it were the *new* section. BTW, your pictures are beautiful!

Thanks!

The picture of the room I found on trip advisor that is the one they offered me in the new section. It is very tricky so make sure you talk to your travel agent and see if the MODERN nicer rooms are actually an upgrade and raise some hell to get you that! :) otherwise stay in Bavaro which is actually very nice.

I just think its false advertising for them to call Grand Palladium a 5 star resort while it has sections which are actually 3 stars. They get away with it because of the name and having 4 sections on one complex.

Hey Chicago,

I will make sure that we book all of our guests in the "new section". I actually stayed in the RTS junior suite last summer and it was just like the 2nd photo you posted. I had a question for you in regards to your photographer. I have been looking to book Jorge Alloco but wanted to ask you about the photo package you got. He is telling me that the photos will be given to me through a high resolution CD...what ever happen to ACTUAL photo prints? Did you get the CD or photo prints? I am so new to this so I am a little bite confused. He also mentioned about providing me with proofs...did you get that? If so what are they like?

Thanks for that tip Chicago! However...my MOHs and best men will DEFINITELY be taking their bracelets off and if I have to pay for replacements, then fine, I can take that. I consider myself very easy going about mostly everything about this wedding and will basically do what they tell me but this is ONE issue, I'm not compromising on, lol. I guess all brides have their quirks and this is mine! ;)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
