Recommended Posts

@ Chicago I checked out the website...Flowers look so nice...so hard to choose I think I am going to get my flowers from there but get the bridesmaids down there...I was wondering if you could email me or post the pictures that Caroline sent of the flowers.

Someone asked about blue coloured flowers...you may want to consider getting real touch or something. There are very, very few "real" flowers that are the coloure blue in nature. Most you see in a slower shop or whatever are died. They don't have a great selection for flowers anyway in the DR compared to what you could get at home although they do have a fair bit of variety (but be prepared to pay for an upgrade). But if you really want blue, email Carolina first to see if this is even possible there.

I also would like a copy of the legal ceremony! (we're doing the symbolic and knowing the legal will help.) My email address is sheila.and.mike.wedding@gmail.com. (There are way too many periods in that email address, I should never have let the FI pick it!!) In other wedding news, we actually had our legal paperwork done on Saturday...there's no going back now! And my wedding band is done, and I should be able to pick it up by the end of the week! I am very excited!

carribeanLover, I leave the DR on January 27th, so i will miss you! I am getting married the week before.

richarsd...I have read that they have ti change you from noob manually so it can take upwards of a week before it changes!

Now I have to decide what to do about OOT bags....past brides, how long did it take for the bags to come in after you ordered them??

I'm using a florist down there. she is charging me 80$ for my bouquet of 2 dozen lavender roses and 40$ for each bridesmaids bouquet of aqua and lavender gerbera daisies, 7$ per bout. I think she is very reasonable and because she has her own shop you have more of a selection. I know my bouquet is a little pricey but it's cause it's considered custom (lavendar roses have a significant meaning in our relationship so I was willing to pay whatever)  another bride posted a review of her and the flowers were beautiful. Personally I just can't see having fake flowers on my wedding day, I am a huge flower lover maybe that's why, but the real touch flowers do look amazing   the link for the florist if anyone is interested http://www.floristeriaeltronco.com/

I really like the way those flowers look.  I would love to see pics when you get them in!

@Carribean Lover

I think I have my mind set on shipping our OOT bags (just the bags) because I really want guests to be surprised and have their "wecome" package when they arrive.  We chose to go with the collapsilble market baskets which are just WAY too big to even consider packing in any suitcase when we will have 20+ of them.  I guess I am going to have to take my chances.  If they dont' make it...then, I guess we will figure out something once we get down there and use those for thank you gifts?  sigh, the stresses of a destination wedding LOL

To all:

I am going to vent for a minute...I lost 4 of my original six bridesmaids in one week!  2 said they couldn't afford it and 2 told me they were pregnant (in the same week!)  One is due a week before the wedding and one is due the week after...what are the odds of that? So anyway, I just added another one who I thought originally wouldn't be able to come.  So now I have 2 bridesmaids and a MOH.  I am happy with this, however, I think all of my FI's groomsman are still in for a total of 5.  Is it bad to have the wedding party uneven?  I figure that it is already a non-traditional type wedding so it is ok to break some "rules."  How should they walk?

@kitty

No worries it can always get worse. I originally had one bridesmaid and MOH. Mind you the bridesmaid was not planned because in my culture we only have MOH. My bridesmaid for whom I broke the rules and went against my parents wishes, freaked out on me after I had an issue with her dress color selection for which I was paying! I was very easy going and finally said she is too opinionated, believe me no bridezilla moment on my part. Now I am happily awaiting my wedding with my MOH helping me plan.

As for your wedding party walking.....you said 5 guys, 2 bridesmaid 1 MOH

Have each bridesmaid  walk down the aisle with two guys in arms. Perhaps best man and MOH can walk together.

DONT WORRY ABOUT IT!!

@kitty here is my bouquet, ORCHID MIX

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
