Married or going to be married at Grand Palladium Punta Cana?

Recommended Posts

I think you have to choose your menu based on what you think people overall will like but, obviously, don't just choose something for that reason alone - you and FI need to like it too. We plan to decide on our menu when we get down there since we're not planning to print off menus or anything. I agree it's kinda hard to choose in advance without tasting it so it's a gamble.

However, the menu question has come up a few times in previous threads and some of the past brides have reviewed it. I took note each time so here's what I have, lol:

Appetizers:

- Onion Soup - all good reviews (one bride said it was the best she ever had)

- Minestrone - unknown

- pasta (with shrimp, etc) - unknown

- lobster bisque - unknown

- Ceasar salad - all good reviews

- Caprese salad - all good reviews

- mastocholli - unknown

- caneloni - unknown

Main course:

- T-bone - mixed reviews

- beef medallions - all good reviews (by far this is the most popular choice too based on previous posts)

- stuffed chicken breast - unknown

- chicken tettrazini - mixed reviews

- beef milanese parmesan - mixed reviews

- loin of pork - unknown (I really want to try this though. Pork for some reason doesn't seem to be a popular choice but this is what I'm leaning towards. I like that it comes with roasted veggies!)

- salmon fillet - unknown

- grilled bass - unknown

Dessert:

- Tiramisu - mixed reviews

- chocolate lazagna - mixed reviews (one girls thought it was "odd")

- chocolate bomb - unknown

- chocolate brownie - all good reviews (seems to be most popular)

- apple puffed pasty - unknown

Only two days left until we leave. Well, I guess it depends on how you're counting, lol. We leave Thursday morning bright and early, and only counting the two days between now and then helps me feel better. But, I guess it's a good thing that we have three nights to pack, since we haven't started yet. Good thing we have tonight, tomorrow and Wednesday. lol, we are such procrastinators!

I can't believe it's finally here! So excited to finally be a Mrs.!

Now I just have to hope getting my dress there in one piece isn't the chore I am afraid it's going to be. I have to admit that it has me nervous. It's the only thing that has me nervous.

We're so laid back about this whole thing. We haven't given one thought to anything--ceremony site, flowers, colors, cake, menu, music, nothing. We figure it will all be decided when we meet with Carolina on Friday, and she's made that point more than clear in all of her emails. She always says (paraphrasing), "we'll meet and discuss/decide everything then. Don't worry about it until then". Listening to some of you though I might start to get a little nervous about that other stuff though. Past brides--should we have been doing more before now? ........ I hope it all works out. I'm sure it will though. lol.

Oh well, in the end I'll be married and that's all I really care about! :)

I figured I'd help you gals out with the menu with my review and from the other brides who got married around the same time as me.

- Onion Soup - all good reviews (one bride said it was the best she ever had) I had this while the rest of the guest had salad (I can't eat salad) it was still the best soup I've ever had and I live in Quebec lmao!!

- Minestrone - unknown

- pasta (with shrimp, etc) - unknown

- lobster bisque - unknown

- Ceasar salad - all good reviews everyone like it, except it comes with fish in it and know one knew right away kind of left a bad tast

- Caprese salad - all good reviews

- mastocholli - unknown

- caneloni - unknown

Main course:

- T-bone - mixed reviews: it's good!!!

- beef medallions - all good reviews (by far this is the most popular choice too based on previous posts) your right this is the best pick, most girls picked this and loved it, said it was the best meal

- stuffed chicken breast - unknown

- chicken tettrazini - mixed reviews - DON'T GET THIS!!!!!!! I did and it was disgusting!! I was so angry at myself for not going with the steak (I love steak, I was worried ppl weren't going to get it the way they like it cooked) but from the other girls everyone's guest truely enjoyed it

- beef milanese parmesan - mixed reviews

- loin of pork - unknown (I really want to try this though. Pork for some reason doesn't seem to be a popular choice but this is what I'm leaning towards. I like that it comes with roasted veggies!)

- salmon fillet - unknown

- grilled bass - unknown

Dessert:

- Tiramisu - mixed reviews

- chocolate lazagna - mixed reviews (one girls thought it was "odd")

- chocolate bomb - unknown

- chocolate brownie - all good reviews (seems to be most popular)

- apple puffed pasty - unknown

All the desert's are great, but take into thought your guest will be full at this point and they still want to try your cake. I say skip this and make your cake your dessert because it was the best cake I and any of my guest has had. Best dessert ever!!!

I hope this helps a bit!!

Wow, I go work a stretch of night shifts and there's a pile of new posts!! (I can't check/post on here when I am at work and during the day I attempt to sleep!)

msredbird....Cannot wait to hear how things go for you!! So excited for you!!

carribeanLover....thanks for the info! I may bug you when I come up with some more questions! Congrats on the new house and I hope your health issues improve. That sounds awful! sad.gif

Thanks to everyone for the menu options. Not too sure what we will go with yet. I have a couple people with a dietary restriction (celiac and vegetarian) but it sounds like it won't be too much of a problem.

We are going to try to pick out the FI's wedding band tonight and ordering out OOT bags. My friends threw a shower for me yesterday too and man did they do a good job! How is everyone else's plans coming along?

Msredbird - goodluck and have a blast!!! Looking forward to hearing the details when you get back. And no need for you to worry...part of doing this type of wedding is so you don't have to worry :)

Sheila2011 - where are you ordering your OOT bags from? I found a website a while back with really nice canvas bags but can't find it again so I'm looking for some place to get them from.

Thanks so much for the well wishes everyone! I really appreciate them!

To anyone who has been to the Grand Palladium in the past--Several of the men in our family are asking emergency/last minute packing questions about dress code for the a la carte restaurants. The Grand Palladium website says "long pants are required in the a la carte restaurants for men". Does that mean they have to wear khakis (dress pants/slacks), or are jeans allowed in the a la carte restaurants? It does not really specify.

Thanks!
Dana

Jeans are fine, I am not sure about the restaurant in the Royal section since we did not go there, but jeans were fine for the restaurants. My FI wore them and no one told him anything.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
