It's just me and my fiance going to Punta Cana we are also having an AHR here for everyone else....

I wonder If I can somehow get a private dinner just me and the Hubby??

hmmmm I'm guna email Carolina and see what or if there is anything she can do for us??

Yes you can have a private dinner, I am sure she can arrange something where it'll be included in your package. But they have a special thing where you pay $60p/p but you get a private set up on the gazebo with candle light lighting up the path way, white glove service. Just amazing!!!
Def email her and see what she can do (don't mention the $60 since your paying for a package)

Also, has anyone had the beach wedding? We really want to have the ceremony on the beach but it seemed like the Carolina was trying to talk me out of it. I tried getting a 5pm time so a lot of people won't be on the beach but for now I'm stuck with 2pm. Any recommendations for 2pm on the beach? Do I ask them to set up closer to the water? Our whole reasoning for going away was to have our feet in the sand while we say our "I do's!" I know people will be around and watching, but that's ok if we have some stragglers in our pics! hehe
I also wanted my wedding directly on the beach, believe me when we say there IS a reason Carolina is 'trying' to talk you out of it. I don't think she's actually trying to talk you out of it, more trying to make you understand their beach isn't really set up for weddings to happen without getting people in their bathing suites tanning or swimming. There is no guard to keep people away from your ceremony, so you will get lots and lots of people walking through it. It'll be for sure you'll have lots of ceremony pictures with strangers in their bathing suites. I too was a little disappointed in not having the ceremony on the beach. After we got married days later we saw someone getting married on the beach, and the way it gets set up (the ceremony is exactly where the beach party is) they can only push the lounge chairs so far, which isn't far enough...you will get them in your pictures. The ceremony i saw set up was at 5, and there were a lot of people stopping by on their walk, watching the ceremony, like I said the photographer will have no choice but to get them in it. So your ceremony being at 2, will be a lot worse. After I saw that, I was sooo happy I choice the gazebo.
The Gazebo you get lots of privacy, plus you still get the background of the ocean. Then after the ceremony is done you go to the beach and take pics (so your still getting tons of beach pictures) This way the photographer can actually wait until someone passes by before snapping the shot!
The way I thought of it as, was it'd be nice not to have ONLY beach pictures, since we went after the ceremony, and the TTD. The gazebo was a nice break of different senery
So if after what I say, and after she shows you pictures you still want the ceremony on the beach, I say go for it girl!!! it's your day you can do whatever pleases you.
Carolina just wants to make sure her brides are the out most happiest!!

Amazing, where'd you go for vacation? No vacation for us this summer sad.gif just moving!!! how fun!! at least it's into a house where we'll put a pool in right away (hopefully we get a long summer, since we only move August 16th)

I chose 5 songs since I didn't know how long I needed. Hubby said 5 songs was plenty enough! so maybe do 5! (he was there waiting for me)

Someone on here did get the trio band, and loved it!!! if it's in your budge, go for it!!!

Ahhhhh the dress is amazing (well, I think so anyway. Hopefully the fiance will agree, lol). I don't want to describe it because sometimes he comes on here!!! BUT if any of you ladies would like to see it, send me your email addresses and I would be more than happy to send you a picture that way! :)

Sheila 2011 - green stilettos!! That sounds hot! wink.gif I take it green is your colour for the wedding?

Bella30 - I plan to get the trio band for the ceremony. Figure I'll walk down the aisle to something they play too but I'm not too picky about that. I think it'll give the ceremony a nice "island flare".

Shes not trying to talk you out of it. I'm not sure if you've ever been down south, but theres ALOT of people on the beach right up until dark, doesn't matter what time it is. I think she just wants you to be prepared for old ugly speedo guys in the background. Don't ask to set up closer to the water, thats where all the people from other resorts who go for walks walk, right along the water.

And Tracy, Mike is home, Hes working in Halifax everyday 7:30-3:30!! I love it :)

I was so set on the ceremony on the beach until I saw a picture of a ceremony on some review page, and there were people in bathing suits caught in the pictures, it looked very tacky and I know I would be pissed, that's when I made up my mind on the gazebo. I'm having the beach party so I'll be satisfied. I also plan on having the trio band. My husband is from DR and it's tradition to have that.

I had a beach wedding at the Palladium this past December and my ceremony was at 4pm. The beach was still quite crowded and yes, we did have lots of people watching in their bathing suites (including men in speedos), but It was fun and I would not have done anything different. There is a security guard to keep people from standing right behind you and getting in the photos and the resort photographer we used (Andres) did a great job editing out anyone the security guy missed.

It's important to realise that you are getting married in a place that is full of people, even the gazebo weddings attract a bit of a crowd. Everyone loves a wedding, my hubby and I got quite the applause for our first kiss.

We had a couple of kids in the background on a few shots making sand castles, but that was actually kind of cute.

Mind you I have never been the type who is overly traditional, elegant or Martha-Stewart about this type of thing. Seems to me that the only way to have a completely private each wedding is to spend a lot of $$ and part of the reason I did a Destination wedding was to save money.

Oh, another thing:

I had about 19 people for my wedding and not a lot of money to spend, but I still wanted a semi-private dinner. Carolina set us up under a thatched roof area outside on the patio of La Arrecife and it was perfect! Just the right size for us, beautiful location and no one else within sight! No extra charge! We were going to have a beach party, but then it started to rain a bit, so we moved the party under the same thatched roof, Carolina's team just moved all our tables over. It was great, lots of people danced and it was much easier then dancing on the sand

Also, a word of advice:

A few people in my wedding party saw other weddings at the resort during their stay and mentioned that Carolina seemed to go the extra mile for me in terms of decorations, etc. I can't say for certain why this may be, but I work in a similar job to her (I'm a Stage Manager) and I am considering going into weddings. I treated her like I would want to be treated, I recognised that she was dealing with lots of weddings and that my email about my wedding in 3 months was not her priority, the 2 weddings taking place that day needed her focus. I used the resort photographer (which make sher job easier), was patient, did not make crazy requests and was pretty much the opposite of a Bridezilla.

thanks for all of the tips... I have been married before so I am definitely not a bridezilla and am pretty simple about everything (hence the destination wedding). I guess we can just see when we get down there since I am sure there will be many more weddings that week. Should I be emailing Carolina at all about anything? I booked our date, sent our agreement, and that was it. I also feel like she has a TON of people to deal with so I really don't feel like bothering her at all since were not getting married until April. I don't really have any special requests or anything so I guess we just plan everything once we are there? Anyone know how that usually works?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
