I can understand how frustrating family and friends can be. One min they want you to have all the info, then once it's time for them to book, you'll get some people not doing it at the time you'd like. Sooo annoying!!!
I am sure you'll hear from Carolina by this week, and then you can send out STD's. i say if you give people 7mths-yrs notice, it shouldn't be a problem!!
Carolina said April 28, 2011 was available so I am hoping we get that date. The funny part is that everyone we REALLY want there already knows the week and the pricing for the resort. Even the people telling me I need STD's already know the week we are going to Punta Cana. So its not like its going to be a surprise for anyone when we send out the STD's.... but I'll send them out as soon as I get the date confirmed anyway just to please people. And I am sure, like you said, they won't book right away anyway lol!

You have lots of time -- if she confirmed that date, she will give you that date! She's amazing thus far -- I'm lucky, I guess because my wedding is getting closer (WE LEAVE IN 2 WEEKS!! ahh) but she has been emailing me back pretty quickly.

It's true -- people will be involved in many ways, good or bad. lol..I didn't get my dress until 6 months before so you can start looking whenever - don't feel pressure because it just sits there anyways! lol and will drive you crazy! PLUS -- don't let people stress you out, a seamstress will do the job with 10 months notice, or 1 week notice! (not that you will leave it that late, but you know what I mean).

I hate tripadvisor - people write terrible reviews, and their reasons are silly. I'm ignoring it until we leave lol

Girls who have been married there -- I have a question about the gazebo. I'm worried (suddenly) that if it starts to rain what wil happen? I Do NOT want to be inside doing the ceremony, and since we don't have a lot of guests (20) I was wondering if people could fit under the covered part of the gazebo, just standing around the sides. Do you think there is enough room? If not, did CArolina ever talk about a back up plan -- I'm worried now! bahh

sorry been a little MIA! Been in hard core such for homes!!! which has been keeping me real busy, plus preparing to be off my feet for a week, my sugery date is Thursday. (Freaking out!!!)

I think the gazebo would fit 20 ppl. It'd be real tight, and your photographer will have no choice but to get most people in the shot with you guys.

Plan B would be to have your ceremony help inside Hemingways Bar (which IS beautiful, especially if she decorates it)

I have my fingers crossed for all you brides getting married soon. I really don't want to make anyone worry, but June-Nov 30th is Hurrican season and it looks like it'll be a real bad year for them. However Punta Cana never gets hit, and if they do it's a rain storm more then anything.

i am not sure if 20 people could fit under the gazebo, with the table there holding the books and flowers it would definitly be tight.. everyone would end up being huddled arounf carolina and the judge. not to mention that the sides are completely open, and i think the top of the gazebo is aswell- not a good shelter if there is rain. moving the wedding ceremony inside would be a better option.

You def wouldn't get 20 people in there, we had 3 on each side plus the two of us, Carolina and the judge plus our photographer and the table with the flowers and book. It wouldn't work. Plus we had some sprinkling of rain come in on us. If you have to do Hemmingways, its beautiful!!!!! I know you def don't even want to think about going all the way to the DR and have to get married inside because that happened to me (Thats what my bridezilla moment was all about) but it really is beautiful, especially if she has enough time to decorate it with the chair covers, sashes and an arch I believe, it will be stunning. No worries, its going to rock :)

If you really want it outside, the ceremony only takes 5 mins your guests can get wet, thats eventually what I told Carolina, we changed places 4 times and then I just told her were doing it at the gazebo. It will give your guests a good story!! lol

I went through the same thing with my Travel Agent at first, but then I MADE her look for rooms/rates and she was "all of a sudden" able to get them. I should've switched TA's but my parents use this girl so I trust her. I just think she never looked so assumed they weren't out yet.

On another note, I emailed Carolina about 2 dates that I was hoping for at the end of April. Basically she said she had 1 of the dates but not the time I wanted. So I emailed her back saying I wanted it... but now am waiting for her response. I am getting nervous as well because I emailed her last Wednesday and haven't heard back yet, but I am sure she is just busy with upcoming weddings. (I hope lol) Everytime my iPhone beeps for an email, I hope its her responding! (yea, I'm pathetic haha)

I would give her some more time to get back to you. Does anyone know her "normal" response time for people who aren't getting married *soon* ?

I agree, It is def tight up in the gazebo, and for the judge, Carolina, and your bridal party it'll be stuffed!!

I agree again, it's a short and sweet ceremony, a lot of my guest said if it was to rain not to change a thing, no one cared if they got wet. People were hot anyways they thought it'd be refreshing!

I'm sure everything will be ok, and work out!!

I say go ahead and email her again, asking her if she could confirm the date. Sometimes you can get a reply with in a few hours, I've waited a few weeks to hear back from her.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
