Married or going to be married at Grand Palladium Punta Cana?

How come no one is legally getting married at the resort?!?!

Just wondering... I know a lot of people do this getting married in Mexico so no one has to get blood test.

Is it because you have to wait for the marrige certificate?or because it's cheaper?

We are getting legally married here too for two reasons: 1) It's cheaper! and 2) I didn't want to wait for the marriage certificate. Plus by saving some money on the ceremony, I can get more shoes! :)

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! more shoes!!! I love it.

I tried to save money as well to get an extra week in Punta Cana... so I called our city hall and it would have cost me $600 for the papers and all. Plus the $670 for the symbolic ceremony down south, in the end it would have only been saving a couple of hundred (not enough for another week) well all my efforts in trying to safe money got me an extra week for our honeymoon. Kind of worked out for me because I didn't want to get legally married first only because I would have felt I was cheating my guest out of a wedding, but that is just me.
All the girls I spoke to during my year of planning also got married in town first.

For us it ended up being 1) cheaper 2) we don't have to worry about having all of our stuff translated (which would cost extra) and 3) we don't have to wait for the marriage certificate.

I think its just a personal preference.

For me it's cheaper, and we aren't telling anyone (I dont feel I'm cheating them out of a Wedding because I don't consider signing papers a wedding anyways). So...it's a lot cheaper in Ontario (121 for the license and 150 for a guy to perform the "ceremony").

Plus, I didn't want to wait for the papers -- not that I would have minded, but I'd rather just be done with it and not worry about anything once we get back!

All very good reasons!!!

See here in Quebec were already considered common law marriage, I've had DH private insuance now for years and we claim each other on taxes, so we didn't care to wait for the certificate. (I'm actually very surprised at how quick it came, I was more expecting it for the end of June!)

It was very costly to translate and legalize our documents ($400) that is a huge savings, plus with the symbolic wedding being cheaper.

I guess your right about papers being sign or not isn't what makes a wedding. It's everything else

Exactly! :) To each their own I guess -- sometimes I think it would have been nice to do it all down there, but now I get two "wedding days" and that means....anniversaries!! Lol...jk!

I emailed Carolina but she must be on medical leave now...how long did you guys stay at the restaurant for? I'm wondering if they will kick us out after a certain amount of time. Which one did you end up at Tracy, your pics cutting the cake look it's in a nice building!

I also wondered about a possible "signature drink" and if they would go for that, I'd pick an easy one that the bar already makes and I'm hoping they will just set up a stand with kinda a "serve your own" station! I've seen pics and it looks like a great idea! Plus, I could name it somethign cute!

I had La Uva for dinner, we were suppose to get the patio but it was way to windy so we had it inside, the guest were on the other side, kinda of around a little corner.. so they didn't bother us, and i didn't think we bothered them. Who's bothered by a wedding anyhow! lol If you want that restaurant, I suggest letting who ever is taking care of the coordination, get a confirmation you'll get that place.. it's what I did.

Where would you want the salf serve drink stand? at the restaurant, or the ceremony part?

(the pin was something my Aunt had been saving for my wedding day for over 10 years. She passed away last year, so it was extra special when my cousin gave it to me)

Sorry for the loss of your Aunt.. what an adorable pin. It must have been touching to know that she had saved it for you. Obviously she had a great sense of humour.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
