Recommended Posts

ok.....so our passports came in this week, and we're heading to the embassy in TO to get our paperwork done for the wedding. Do we have to get the front and back or our birth certificate's translated alsohuh.gif? That's going to cost a small fortune for the both of us.....sad.gif((

Danielle,

I just got my paperwork done, we sent:

1 photocopy of the front of the birth cert (each)

1 photocopy of the info page of the passport (each)

1 orignal of the single status (each)

2 photocopys of the single status (each)

Tracy said to send them to the consulate in MTL so we did, (and you don't need a notary to sign you single status, just a commissioner of oath, they didn't charge us anything) we sent them a US money order, which is cheaper then what TO is charging in Canadian, and we had our paperwork back in 1 week.

But since your going in, I would just bring those papers in that I listed. But it might be good info for someone else!!

Good luck, let us know how ya make out :)

We are having the beach party at the hotel with the DJ offered to us by Carolina. For the $200-$250 charged, I am doubtful we will have access to a website or song list. My suggestion is to have a CD with the songs you MUST have played and ask the DJ to incorporate it into his set. We are bringing 2 CDs with us - 1 with all the "first" songs and another with the ones I would like to hear when we are partying. I think that will be the easiest. If you DO manage to get a hold of a song list please share :)

Hey everyone. I'm still wondering if you ladies can remember how long it was from the time you asked Carolina about the availability of your wedding date and when she got back to you.

It's been two weeks since we sent her an email asking that question. I've heard from her once saying she just needed to talk to the judge to confirm. Also, a travel agent who is working with us and is trying to get our business has called Carolina twice. Both times she's told the TA that she just had to talk to the judge and "it would be tomorrow or the next day" when she would do that.

Did it take this long for you all to get confirmation of the wedding date availability?

We'd book literally right now if we could just get this confirmation. My fiance and I are both getting really frustrated. So much so that this weekend we began looking at other options in the DR, as well as other countries altogether. The Grand Palladium is by far our first choice though, so I just don't know what to do.

Dawn, How did your dress picking up on Friday go, hope all went well!!

We have almost less then a month to go girls, anyone getting real excited? Is everyone done with their planning? I'm def not!! Plus I'm waiting to see if 6 other people book or not then I'll have to make their bags, order everything for the bags...

We decided to take back the docking system we bought, and will hire the DJ for 3 hours. Anyone have a contact info for him?

Hi Tracy!
The dress fitting in montreal is now tomorrow morning. Then I will have to go back to pick it up in about a week or so. As long as it's before the April 7th flight!

I am supposed to be seeing the TA this week for last minute questions and will hopefully find out if the Dj has a playlist, who he is, etc. So I will report back for all the gals having the DJ!

I have changed my decor yet again! I was planning to do seaglass with candles but its soooooo heavy and I really don't need to be carting extra baggage so I ordered preserved flowers. Hopefully this link works:

Preserved Natural Blue orchid flowers (30 flowers) for $10.99

I plan to use them around candles on a clear plate (plastic) with sand or something. Should work just fine. I will post pictures of my vision once they arrive (Maybe they will arrive with the dress!)

Talk soon!

Sungoddess, I don't know if it's too far for you, but my dress is being done with Rose at Rose's Custom sewing in Carleton Place. She's amazing and the service is impeccable.

Danielle, i'm not sure how much other people paid, but i assume if you go to the embassy in TO, it would be the same as what we did here in Ottawa. It was beyond easy and fast. We went on monday with a photocopy of our passport info pages, the front of each of our birth certificates and the single status afidavits that we signed with the woman there. We gave her a money order of 360USD. That was on Tuesday and she called us on the Friday to say everything was ready to be picked up. It's a lot simpler than it all sounds, really!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
