Oh SH*#, I screwed the pooch on this one....

Recommended Posts

I am so upset with myself right now, last night Doug and I were having a heated discussion (not to each other, I was just a little riled up about the subject!) about what role my stepmom will play in the wedding, I was explaining to him that altho I love her dearly and I may be her only daughter, I have always been extremely close with my mom and there are just certain things that you want your mom to do regarding your wedding, like being in the brides room with you and lacing up your dress and ..................... OMG did he just notice that I accidentally gave a detail about my dress, when I have been super squirrel secretive about anything having to do with it, won't even tell him what color it is, what style, anythinghuh.gif?!!! Panic, cover, keep babbling, maybe he won't notice, sneak a look at him.... Why does he have a sly, unexplainable smile, don't let him know you saw, just keep covering.

I am freaking out! I know him so well that just by that little smile that he shouldn't have had given the nature of the conversation, I just KNOW he was paying attention (For once! Oh lord, why THIS time?). I know some people might not think it's a big deal, and really "they" only say that the groom shouldn't actually SEE the bride IN the dress, not that he can't see the dress, but I am so mad at myself. It just slipped out! I keep talking about it to everyone else in the world, and it is so hard to keep a secret from your best friend, the one person you tell absolutely everything else to. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

I was going to bring it up last night right before bed when he was all sleepy, just casually bring it up and see if he knew what I was talking about, but I lost my nerve.

I'm probably making a way bigger deal than this should be, but I feel like I ruined the surprise of my dress sad.gif The one good thing is that at least I didn't look over and see him grimacing or something that looked like he was thinking: "Yuck, why did she pick a lace-up dress?"

You got nothing to worry about. Trust me. Karen let a few details slip here and there and honestly most of the time I did not even know what she was talking about with the dress. I was completely (and very happily) surprised when I saw her.

If she had said something about lacing it up I probably would have figured it was something completely different than what she was really talking about.

Thanks gals, and Jason, I was hoping I would pick up some male input!

I just feel like given that minor detail he would know which dress I picked, since before I went shopping I showed him pics of ones I was thinking of, and my dress was in the pics (to show him the idea of the pick-ups, since at the time I didn't like the lace up part!). I showed him a bunch of examples hoping he would give the same reaction I was feeling about each dress. So given that was the only one with laces, I just concluded he would remember that sad.gif

abbie dont sweat it, i bet he will forget about it in a few days/weeks/months time... men always do haha.

if it makes you feel any better, my FI accidentally saw photos of me IN my dress from this weekend's purchase. he was being nosy last night and wanted to look at the options i had chosen for BM dresses, and i was cooking dinner, so i told him to log into my picasa account. there was a sep. album for the dress photos, but i forgot to set it to "no cover" --- well all of a sudden im facing the stove and he starts screaming....

he was like YOU TRICKED ME, I JUST ACCIDENTALLY SAW YOUR DRESS DUMMY!!!! My hands were dirty with raw chicken germs, so I literally lifted my leg a la karate kid, and slammed my laptop shut! hahaha. but i know my FI, and i know he will forget about it in a few days.

no big deal! hell, i described the dress in detail in front of paul, he still couldn't picture it. honestly, it's going to be a huge impact when he SEES you in the dress, regardless of whether or not you've told him about each thread on the dress! forget about it!

I'm sorry to hear that, but yes it makes me feel WAY better, sorry Maura!

You're completely right. So true. Even for Maura, at least Jose didn't see it in person, just in pics, and even then it was just on screen.

Thanks again guys, you've calmed my fears.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
