Riu Santa Fe

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I am a newbie, and want to see if anyone has any opinions and/or information about Riu Santa Fe, the newest resort in Cabo, right near Riu Palace. I am considering getting married there early next year but am a little nervous since the hotel is so new and the WC has not done any weddings there yet for me to judge whether she is any good.

I was just in Cabo over MLK holiday weekend, but we did not see anybody getting married. The WC we talked to said that nobody gets married in Jan. there. The wedding season apparently starts in Feb. Is there a reason why people don't get married in Jan. there? I checked the average weather for both Jan. and Feb. and they appear to be about the same. I would like to get married the Saturday of the Presiden't Day holiday weekend next year in February, but it falls on Valentine's Day. I don't have anything against getting married on Valentine's Day other than the fact that there will be 50 other couples getting married on that day, which I would like to avoid if possible, which is why I am considering January. Is there any specific reason why people don't get married in January in Cabo that I don't know about?

Any information or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

-Cecilia

The hotel was nice. The rooms are pretty nice as well, but the beds felt hard and uncomfortable. The terrace location where the ceremonies are held is beautiful with the ocean and arch in the background. The grounds are huge...it reminded me of college campus. I just don't know if the WC is any good.

Well, hopefully, brides who start to get married there will come here and share their experience.

I'm going to have to let you know how it is. We are getting married there on March 22, 2008 and I was hoping to find anyone that has gotten married there. But I guess it's too new. Paola, the WC has been great so far she emails me back right away when I have a questions. So we'll see.

Thanks so much. I would really appreciate to hear how you like getting married there. I haven't put down a deposit yet because I am still a bit anxious. Where do you plan to have your reception dinner? At one of the restaurants or have a private dinner at the terrace area where the ceremony will be held? Did you buy one of their wedding packages?

I will let you know. Since we're having mexican for the rehearsal dinner, we decided to choose the steak house restaurant.

I did purchased the Royal package and at the beginning I had extras, but I decided to book the flowers and the mariachi band with outside vendors. So far Paola seems very nice and gets back with me right away.

Hi = )

I am getting married there in July. Although I have stayed at the Riu palace, and I saw the Santa Fe when it was almost finished. Unfortunately though, i havent stayed there to try it out.

We do not know where we will have our reception yet. You can chose one of the restaurants, and it is included in the AI package. You can also arrange to have a private reception, and the cost was about 50 or 60 per person... and only beer and wine is included.

Would definately be nice to have a private dinner... but we are very frugalblush2.gif so will likely go for one of the restaurants.

I have not had great responses with our WC Ericka, but when you call her on it... she gets back to you faster.

If you are still trying to decide where to do the wedding, this forum is a great way to see what people are saying. Since the Santa Fe is new it is very tough since there have been no weddings yet (or none that I know of).

I am really confident with the choice to have it here. I am a travel agent, and Riu has a very good name, and reputation. For my FH and I, the only decision we had to make was between Riu Palace, or Riu Santa Fe. And the only reason we chose Santa Fe was so that our guests wouldnt have to fork out as much.

Good luck!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
