I wasn't planning on doing any sort of welcome bags until I joined this forum about 2 weeks ago! After seeing all the great ideas I decided to do it. So I ordered some canvas bags from cheaptotes.com (they were only like .99 and I was extremely pleased with them when I recieved them!). I am going to buy iron-on paper and I have designed what I am going to put on the bags. I also ordered travel mugs from oriental trading that you can personalize yourself. From what I have heard, the resort gives you your drinks in really small glasses so I figured that them having mugs with lids and their names on them would be helpful. I also ordered some really cute frisbees that say "love is in the air" from bridesvillage.com. Along with all of that I plan on buying other things to put in the bags like sunscreen, different travel toiletries, travel medicines, playing cards and anything else I can find to put in them. Oh! I also made my own luggage tags that I ordered from Oriental Trading too and sent them this week along with a little newsletter updating them on a few things. I've gotten really busy the last couple weeks =-)

I think we'll just go to one of the lounges or bars at one of the Riu's and have a cocktail hour or three. But I will definitly let you know how things go and different ideas on what you can do after dinner!
We are going to try to put together a "sunset cruise" for our guests...rent some sort of large boat, and have a combo boat cruise/cocktail hour. We purposely scheduled our wedding for early afternoon just so we could fit this in before dinner. I had a friend do it (she was married at the RIU Palace Mexico) and they said it was a huge hit with the guests.

We are doing gift bags, because I want the guests to know how much I appreciate them making the trip down to Mexico to share our wedding day with us. What I put in them will totally be decided by budget...what I can find good deals on will be what I get. So far I bought the little Spanish for Dummies books from the dollar baskets at Target (SUPER GOOD DEAL!). We will also order personalized playing cards, either can koozies or some sort of cup/water bottle, and that is all I have decided on...lots of girls on here have super good ideas for what to get and where to find the best deals. I'm not sure I'm going to get canvas bags or not yet, I guess I'm going to wait to see how many guests we have coming before I do too much.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
