eek - not cool of FI! definitely use the frying pan.

what guys don't get is that the relationship between a DIL and MIL is very delicate. or often is anyway. mothers don't forgive (or forget) things the DIL says/does quite as easily as they do their son. so the son (your FI) blows it off saying ... "it's no big deal, she'll forget about it" ... well, not likely! you poor thing!

I KNOW!!! I called him immediately and the conversation went like this:

FI: Hi, cant talk right now. in a meeting
Me: like hell u cant talk. Apparently you LOVE talking... talking isyour favorite. You had plenty of time to talk to your dad. Now you will talk to me.
FI: Sh*t

And then I proceeded to go off. The funniest thing is, I said all of those things when I was really really really pissed off at her, and now I am totally over it. To have it come back 2 freakin weeks later sucks so bad because now in order to do battle I have to regroup and remember all the stuff that pissed me off!smile35.gif

I definately dont want FI's rediculous, "you are sleeping on the couch tonight" worthy screw up to go to waste though. She needs to know that she can't just push me around and then guilt me into saying everything is ok

So.... I am going to take Betsy's advice and down a couple glasses of wine... and then prepare for battle smile67.gif

Haha Galit you are hilarious! Wine heals all, so yes, drink up and I bet it won't take long to remember why you hated her when you said those things...LOL Good luck, don't beat up FI too much. He was probably sticking up for you in a man-ish way, but you deserved a heads up at the very least!!

oh galit. shit. WTF was your FI thinking?!

i guess just stay calm and tell her you dont hate her, but you do feel like she's overstepped her boundaries as a FMIL in your wedding planning business. she needs to realize its not her wedding, so whatever you do is your decision, and if she views your choices as reflecting poorly on her, shes going to have to swallow that and keep it to herself. i feel you on wanting to tread somewhat delicately because she's paying for the wedding, im in the same situation. your FI REALLY needs to be there to back you up on this stuff though, not rat you out -- no matter how mad he is at his dad, what you say about each others parents should always stay behind closed doors. ugh. sending you a big hug! let us know what happens when her phone charges!

I went through something similar but with MY MOM. Imagine the Jewish mother guilt coupled with last daughter getting married (the first did not marry a Jewish boy and had minister at her wedding). So this was my mom's last chance to show off before her friends and I screwed it all up by having a DW.

However, now she is showing all her friends my pics and saying that her daughter is the SMARTEST bride there ever was. Because she chose to get married in paradise and that my wedding was so memorable and unique, while her friend's kids weddings were all so same.

The whole thing is pretty funny actually. My sister and I still giggle every time we hear her brag to another girlfriend.

So my advise is just breathe, get a good photographer and wait for the accalaides. Because from what I've learned about Jewish mothers is that if they can't beat you to their will they will claim you are the best thing since ice cream!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
