Anyone been to the Atlantis?

Every year the company I work for takes the staff with the best performance on a trip. This year we are going to the Atlantis in the Bahamas. Anyone ever been? Any advice on where to eat, what to see, what to avoid, etc??

My family has vacationed in the Bahamas twice without me when I was in college and couldn't go because my spring break didn't coincide with my sister's/their work schedules. They stayed at the Atlantis the first time and their biggest complaint was that everything (food & drink) was so expensive and just really not worth the expense. The second time they went, they stayed somewhere nearby and bought alcohol from a local store to make mixed drinks in their rooms. But I guess since your company's paying you dont have to worry rofl.gif haha

One thing my sister did that she LOVED was swimming with the dolphins... the dolphins apparently loved her and were behaving so well that the people videotaped it and now use it for their demo video - they sent her home with a copy which was cool.

I went to the Atlantis a couple of years ago and had an amazing time! You have to eat at the restaurant with the walls that are the aquariam (oceania, maybe?) and go through the "underwater dig" or whatever they call it. It was great. The pp's are absolutely right - it is super expensive, I think buffet dinner was $60 a person or something like that, but with that said the food was fantastic. There is a smaller beach off to the left past the children's pool that is on more of a lagoon and it is awesome! Make sure that you buy a pina colada from the guys who walk around the beach... they'll hack open a coconut and make you the drink right in the shell. So cool.

HAVE FUN!!! And congrats on your great performance :)

Thanks for the input! Sounds like prices will be similar to the Grand Wailea in Maui(that's where we went last year), I think a daquiri there was $16!! Unfortunately food, beverages and activities that aren't in our itinerary are on us. Does anyone know if they will allow us to go to a grocery or liquor store in town and bring our own stuff in to the resort?

The pina colada sounds delish!

I've been twice, but not as a guest. The place is absolutely gorgeous--but VERY expensive as everyone else has indicated. My friends and I had a "hookup" and got to spend the day at the pool and beach and enjoy the scenery. The drinks were the best, and the property is huge and breathtaking.

That makes me nervous, but I think it's something I should probably try once. How cool your sister is on the demo video!

Sweet! Do you remember where the best place to hang out during the day is? Which pool or beach area is closest to a place to get drinks, do activities, etc?

I actually went there on a sales top performer trip as well. I actually met my FI on that very trip. we made out in the hallway with the sharks swimming over our heads. haha. It is a VERY cool place. Aquariums and fish everywhere. It is definitely expensive but it is just so unique its worth it. you'll have a great time. Oh and OJ Simpson was there when we were. I have pics somewhere dancing with The Juice (yes this serial killer had his arm around my shoulder- YIKES!). anyway its an AWESOME place!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
