OBX Advice?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I'm shooting most of my weddings this year in Charleston, SC--a big destination spot. But I'm also planning to shoot in NC, particularly the Outer Banks.

Is anyone familiar with the Outer Banks? Can you advise me on areas along the coast for engagement shoots and weddings?

Of course I'll be doing some research online but it would be nice to here from someone who is from there or getting married there...

Thanks. It's a picture I photoshopped when I was learning how to do the B&W trick.

Oh I just thought of this. There are places where you can be on the beach & have the cape hatteras lighthouse in the background. It does make for great pictures. The Cape Hatteras lighthouse was moved so you may see lots of pictures of it on the water, but it's not there anymore. This is how far it is now

I love OBX, we started an annual trip with our friends every year, in fact our deposit is due next week!

I really don't have good advice though for pictures, depending on what time of year you're going, maybe in one of the quieter areas of OBX, maybe up where the wild horses are, that could be cool to get some horses in the background!

we went to Roanoke last year and the place the Wright Brothers memorial is at. You know what might be really cool for photos would be all the painted horses in the front of stores on the main drag there. A lot of the beach areas are private around Roanoke but I am sure you will find somewhere beautiful.

It's a small world...I'm in Anderson now and go to G-ville all the time.

Good luck w/ your wedding in DR. Been to DR once years ago and remember it was beautiful there along the coast.
Wow, TOTALLY small world! lol. Been in G-Vegas since 1999 and love it. Work used to take me to Anderson all tht time, so I know it well!

Good Luck to you and let me know when you are in G-Vegas next. FH owns a bar/restaurant downtown (Oysters on the West End) so we are there (or elsewhere) often!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
