Where are you registering and why?

Recommended Posts

Ugh Sarah, my MOH is starting to plan my shower & I am so not into it. I hope she does something different & fun. She keeps telling me to register so people will know what to get me, but I don't wanna! I like gifts that people come up with on their own anyway. Damn, put some thought into it!

we finally broke down and registered this weekend. We went to Macy's and Pottery Barn, but posted on our website that we opened a savings account for a home down payment and told our parents to spread the word.

I heard from a lady at pottery barn that Bed Bath and Beyond gives you cash back for your items...

That's good to know Christine. I'll keep that in mind when registering. Well FI and I dont live together so we are going to need everything for our place. We'll probrably register at Target and Home Depot?? I wish Ikea had a wedding registry. Would it be tacky to ask for Ikea gift cards??

I hear ya - my friends want to throw a shower for me as well. For the same reasons I don't want to register and receive gifts for the wedding, I don't want gifts for the shower.

I hope to have a little get-together where we do the 1154 Lill thing - either in Chicago at the store or in someone's house, since they do come to your house. That way they don't have to give me a gift (but I do get a new bag!), they have fun w/o playing cheesy games, and they get a purse afterwards! And it's nice for all people - your friends, family, in-laws, etc.

For those of you that haven't heard of 1154 Lill - it's so much fun! Basically, you're designing your own purse and they make it (http://www.1154lill.com/home/). You start by choosing the style bag you want, then the fabrics. Many of their bags are reversible - so you really get 2 purses in one! They host a lot of parties - and can bring all of the fabric to your house, then ship the purses to you when they're done. I've done it in the store with some friends on a random day in Chicago, and always thought it would be a great thing to do for a shower. Now I get to!

We registered at Macys, Bed Bath and Beyond, Target, Bloomingdales and Crate and Barrell. We were orignally only registered at Macys , Bed Bath and Crate and Barell but I found items were cheaper at target. Also, Bed Bath stopped carrying the china I wanted, so I had to register at Bloomingdales for it. We decided to create a registrybecause alot of people will not be able to make it to the wedding for various reasons and they have asked where we were registered.

We just registered. It was pulling teeth to get my FI to go! We did Macys because they had the dishes we wanted, William Sonoma, because James is a chef, and Crate and Barrel for everything in between. We have also already lived together for 2 years and found it hard to come up with a lot of things. So we did the honeymoon registry too at Honeymoonwishes.com. Jame sister just got married and they did the honeymoon registry and got the whole thing paid for! I hope that happens to us! And to put my two cents in about Target-they don't ship. So with a destination wedding, that makes it harder for your guests I think.

We are finally registering tomorrow!! We changed from BB&B to Macy's. They have the dishes we want, along with many other kitchen and bedroom designs. We will still do Pier 1 since our wine glasses are there and Home Depot/Lowes for him. He has been pretty cool about it so far...trying to make lists of things he thinks we need around the house and stuff...we will see how he does at the actual shopping portion :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
