Night Before and Day of the Wedding

Recommended Posts

Ok - this is a very random question.....but did you and your FI spend the night together the night before your wedding? Granted, my FI and I live together, but just wondered if everyone else just spent the night together beforehand or did something different...... Also, as for the wedding day, what did you do? Spend time together, hang out with guests, or just spend the whole day getting ready?

We did not spend the night together, because that's what he wanted, but if I had it to do over, I would. We've been together for 6 years, lived together for 3... It was far more trouble than it was worth to schlep all my stuff into a room with my girlfriends where 4 of us shacked up - I hardly slept all night.

If I could do it again, I would have just agreed to get up before he woke up. I had brunch with the girls, hung out with my mom, and started getting ready the day of. It wasn't a big deal at all to be apart for the day. But the logistics of room switching for the overnight were a bit too much for me (we had 6+ suitcases btw us!).

We spent the night together (actually we were up talking and finishing favors half the night...lol). That morning I left with my BMs on the boat to the wedding site and didn't see him until the ceremony. It was about 11 hours without him and I missed him soooo much sad.gif We already lived together too so the night before I would have gone crazy without him!

All of these responses are very helpful! I figured that most would spend the night (especially if you lived together), but didn't know if people would have done it differently if they could do it again. I think we'll just do that and then split up the morning of the wedding until the ceremony. I'm assuming that you or your FI changed in someone else's room, though?

We had lived together for 2 years, but didn't spend the night together the night before the wedding. We had our welcome dinner the night before, spent some time with guests, then I helped him move his clothes & stuff for the wedding to his own room. He and I each stayed alone the night before the wedding. At the moment it was stressful- I was having a mini-meltdown...not about getting married, just that this was my last night "alone" and didn't want to leave his room. It was really hard to do, but I'm so glad we did. We both spent that time apart writing letters to eachother that we read right before the wedding. It was a very special time.

The morning of the wedding I woke up early, worked out alone, met family/friends (not DH) for breakfast, then went back to my room and spent some more time alone. Oddly, I really loved that alone time the day of my wedding. It was a great time to reflect on our relationship and get myself ready for the vows I was going to say and promise I was making. At noon I went to the hotel salon (again, alone) and had my hair done and drank champagne. Then, once I got back to the room, my friends and family (all the girls) brought their stuff to my room to get ready. All the guys went to Jeff's room to get ready.

We didn't do pictures beforehand, and didn't see eachother until I walked down the aisle. The anticipation was unbelievable. It was so wonderful- I absolutely wouldn't do it any other way if I could do it again.

Sarah that does sound neat, good opposing perspective. BTW you worked out on your wedding day? I feel fat just reading that...lol Good for you!

I also suggest some alone time if you can swing it. Mine was only for an hour, a few hours before my wedding, but my BMs gave me my space to go off into the jungle alone, write my vows, and reflect. It was a great calming experience.

John and I have been living together for 4 years now, and we plan to sleep in separate rooms the night before and not see each other until the ceremony the next day. I think the anticipation will make for a "memorable" emotional moment...i can totally see him bawling when he sees me.

Plus, i've decided to have the mani/pedi spa party w/ my BMs the morning of our wedding. So I'll be surrounded by my girls pretty much all day that day.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
