Cake suggestions - For a tiny tiny wedding

Recommended Posts

I don't know about your baker there, but several of the bakers I work with will do a "dummy" layer. Basically a big piece of styrofoam that acts as the base layer and is decorated to match the rest of the cake. That way you get the look of a larger cake without wasting it.

I had a small wedding (15 guests) and to tell you the truth, once the restaurant (portofino restaurant at Dreams Tulum) gave us our desert (chocolate mouse cake) no one had room for the wedding cake that was served 45 minutes later ! I wish the restaurant would of only served the wedding cake... but my dear husband was really really happy to have a 2nd chocolate desert and we got to bring + eat the rest in our room. !

Thats the cutest idea!! I love it! Fiance loved it! In fact, he saw it last night and woke up this morning and mentioned how nice it was again.

Its so nice when the guys get involved!

Japanese bakeries are known for their petite cakes, so finding the molding/pan for it wont be so hard!!!

Thanks so much for sharing!
BTW, LOVED your wedding photos!

Im very excited (its a close tie between the excitement of marriage and the excitement of Fiji) Its just so hard for me as a bride because im not in the states to go pick up stuff (my dress is being shipped to me today!!) and Fiji hasnt really became the "wedding" destination as Mexico or Hawaii has become so my choices appear so limited.

Im kinda lonely here...being the only Fiji Bride. But you girls have been so instrumental in bringing out a lot of creativity!!!smile123.gif

I got some of the stuff for them already. I ordered atomic travel clocks for a really good deal at Woot : One Day, One Deal (SM) I also ordered some mini packets of meds and will be making small 1st aid kits and a CD of Fijian music or love music. I am thinking of buying a Lush Ballistic Ball to add. And I need to order or pick up some cute little notepads.

Here is what I have now: Click the image to open in full size.

waiting for the arrival:

As far as the ceremony, it will be on the beach. I will have a Fijian Choir, Fijian Warrior escorts, a meke and kava ceremony, and will have dinner afterwards. I will seriously consider the small individual cakes, since I did buy some really small cake molds (I will try to make one myself and see how they turn out... I think it would be kinda funny... since i never bake)

Here are my invitations. I know its soooooo wrong to put registry info on them but i did since my family keeps asking me anyways. I am sending out about 75 invites as a courtesy. My family is not very wealthy or even financially stable to come but they really want to.

I am doing individual liqueur glasses filled with a lovely creamy white and chocolate mousse. They will sit on a few different tiered stands and the top will be one large glass with the mousse and instead of "cutting a cake" we will feed each other the dessert.. all sprinkled with fairy dust.. anyway just an idea at this stage..

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
