Ours will be about a month after we get back from our DW.

We are doing a very casual AHR on the rooftop deck of the bar/restaurant that FH owns.

I will wear my dress ... but it's otherwise not a dressy affair.

We ae having a low country boil and open bar ... as well as a band that will play on the deck. Not sure if there will be dancing but we aren't planning a first dance or any of that.

Hopefully we'll have a slideshow of pics we can show from our photog ... but at the very least ... a slideshow of pics from DW guests.

It's going to be an afternoon AHR (2-6pm) and then let everyone enjoy the city that evening.

We will meet for brunch the following day for any out of towners who want to join us.

Mine will be about a month after our wedding. Only FI's extended family will attend as my family will not be able to make it out to OH from CA, but thats fine since they are going down to Tulum wiht us. It was FI's parent's idea to do AHR for family here, which is fine and they have offered to help out with it. We are renting a park lodge and want to have it catered by Boston Market. We are also having a small chocolate fountain and some sort of cake, with non-alcoholic drinks(park rule=very cheap). I may wear my dress again; we'll show pictures and have ambiance music, and take some pictures, and maybe a guestbook, but no other formal wedding things. Like everyone else, I agree that it really is up to you, whatever you feel like doing is fine, no rules or standards to meet. Have fun and relax, there is enough stress in planning a destination wedding.

Here is what I plan on putting on my invites; its more casual to reflect the non-formalness of the event.

With the open sky above, sand at their feet, and the ocean as their backdrop,

Groom and Bride will exchange vows in sunny Tulum, Mexico.

Please join us as the celebration continues on Sunday the twenty second of June two thousand and eight for a casual luncheon reception

I am getting married March 31st and having my reception June 7th.. We are having it in my fiances parents. I am just renting a big white tent, chairs, tables and hiring a band.

A lot of family will bring food (almost like a pot luck). My mom wants me to purchase a wedding cake, so we will use the topper we bought for the wedding, at the reception.. We may weare what we are wearing at the wedding, because the dress I purchased is very casual.

My dress

Lavahut - Hawaiian Aloha Shirt, Tropical Wedding Dress, Matching Family Clothing, Island Luau Gifts & Pali Hawaii Sandals :: Women :: Hawaiian Dress :: Wedding Dress :: na'ni lo'a makama'e hawaiian dress

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
