New Cruise Bride - April 2014

Hello!  I posted over on the Newbie forum, but wanted to say "hi" over here!  We love to cruise and really wanted to have our wedding at Mr Sanchos in Cozumel so we decided to combine the two!  We were deciding between Carnival and Royal Caribbean, but ended up choosing the Carnival Victory since Royal did not sail to Cozumel on the weekend we had selected.  We've booked the wedding with Stephanie & Lluvia at Cozumel Wedding Planner.

Looking forward to see how everyone's planning goes over the next year!  Up first for me....attempting to make DIY Passport Save the Dates!!  :)

Good luck with your planning! I am getting ready to book my wedding on the Carnival Pride and can not wait!!!!!! The passport save the dates are such a cute idea! I was considering doing a video dvd for our save the dates and putting all pictures of us on past cruises thru the years. Hopefully it works out the way im thinking.

Are you getting married on the island or on the ship? We are planning to marry on the ship before it sails out of Baltimore.

Hello my fellow cruising DW brides!

It seems like we make up a very small portion of DW brides!

I am going to be sailing aboard the Carnival Legend out of Tampa, FL. My FH and I plan to get married on the island of Grand Cayman.

So, my questions for all of you, cruise DW brides are:

- What are you most excited/nervous/stressed about?

- Have any of you brides who chose Carnival had any negative feedback since all of the recent Carnival incidences?

- Have you decided whether you are going to go to a specialty restaurant, the main dining room or rent a room for the reception?

To answer your questions... -I'm so happy that we chose a cruise/Mexico wedding. It is definitely "us" and something very different for our family/friends. I'm excited/anxious/nervous (all at the same time) for bringing everyone along with us. I've always wanted to take a large family vacation, I just hope everyone behaves! Lol! -I've gotten a few comments on choosing Carnival, but nothing too bad. My stepfather keeps making sarcastic comments, but he doesn't have a choice, he's going! Lol! -We are on a short cruise, so no steakhouse for us. We are having cocktails and hors d'ouvres at the beach club in Cozumel, then dinner in the dining room onboard after.

I agree with you on the reasons for choosing a cruise wedding! For my FI and I, it is the perfect mix of relaxation and adventure (at an affordable rate!!! I think that is the BEST part!!)The reason that I loved the cruise wedding idea is because I also liked the idea of a large family vacation. My family lives in CA so I wanted to spend more than just the one day with them.

I feel like I'm going to be getting comments from my future ILs.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one who is going to go with the idea of a "reception" in the dining room instead of one of the specialty restaurant. We will have to consider during a cocktails and hors d'ouvres idea since we would like to get married around 11AM.

Hi UCF Jennifer!  We're getting married on the 4/5/14 cruise on the Carnival Paradise also out of Tampa.  That's great that you already have 7 cabins!  I've been waiting very patiently for our save the dates to arrive so I can send them out, hopefully next week.  Are you working with a TA?  Hoe did your DIY passports go?

Hi Tinkerbell!! I was actually looking at the Paradise when trying to decide which ship we wanted to take to get us to Cozumel! Are you doing the 5-day? We ended up finding a personal vacation planner at Carnival to help coordinate the bookings. At first I was gonna try to help the newbies, but realized that would be way too much work! We are having everyone book the ought the PVP at whatever rate they want and then he is linking us so we will all be seated together for dinner. DIY passports went well! I've gotten a lot of comments on them! Now that they are done, I kinda feel like I'm at a stand-still until its time to start on the invitations.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
