Having trouble picking wedding colors? Here is what I did...

Recommended Posts

Hi Ladies,

I wanted to share this idea with any bride who is having trouble picking just the right colors for their wedding. As an interior designer I work with color every single day but when it came to picking colors for my wedding I was lost. I wanted to make sure I picked a color that wasn't hard to work with when it came down to finding decor items for the wedding or bridesmaid dresses etc. My initial color ideas were WILD but like I said I work with colors all the time so I love love color. I thought about the process of choosing colors for my work projects and BOOM! the idea came to me...

I dragged my fiance to a Home Depot and stood in front of all the paint chips until we were both happy with a color combination. My fiance said he thought orange was a nice color for a beach wedding and I was so surprised because his idea of color is black and grey EVERYTHING. From orange came coral and then we softened his idea of black shades for everything and went with grey. Coral and grey! I truly love that color combination and it has worked out great for us.

Good luck ladies and I hope that was helpful! <3

smart idea!

I started with fuschia/magenta & turquoise but when my MOH & Matron went to look at dresses, we loved the coral.. beach colors need to be bright.. so as long as they're happy, I am too! I'm sure i'll still through my original colors in there somewhere (i mean heck, my save the dates & invitations are my original colors!)

I'm still debating colour combinations.  I decided on a deep aqua for sure but no bridesmaid dresses come in that colour...what other colour would compliment that? its kind of a mix of 5 in the blue green section mixed with 5 from the blue section (I've never seen the colour in real life other than the bridesmaid dress we found)

That sounds like a great idea and fun also, who would think of going to Hope Depot, painting section for the organization of a wedding!

We also wrote an article about colors and their combinations and includes this color palette as from a decoration store :)

Thank you for posting this and sharing!! I was wondering if three colors is too many but I feel a lot better after reading the meanings!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
