RSVP Timeframe????

Recommended Posts

I am planning on sending invitations to my wedding end of April, early May. We're getting married the middle of December. What is a good timeframe to allow guests to RSVP?

I was thinking 2 months but I feel that people will start to forget.. 1 month people may not be sure if they will be able to attend. What did you ladies do?

Thanks ladies! Since my wedding is around the holidays I wanted to give my guests ample time to book airfare. So far I've done the following:

STD's- End of January

Formal Invitiations - Planning to send mid April

RSVP Date - June 3rd

I believe my room block is held until October so we have plenty of time but my guests kept asking questions about airfare, rooms, and dates so I figured I would send out the info early.

Thanks again!

Hey ladies,

Is it okay not to include menu options on the RSVP card? We are not sure just how many people are actually going, and if we don't have too many then we were thinking we could just have them choose from the menu. Plus, I still haven't worked out the food menu.

I did not include the menu option on mine.  I sent ours out the end of Jan with an rsvp of march 31.  Our wedding is June 24th.  I wanted to see how many people were going to attend b/c if not a lot I was just going to do the semi-private reception.  Since we have a good size group that has booked so far we will do a menu and I will probably send something out once it gets closer to get menu choices.  I'll probably just do an email asking guests to make a selection and call those that don't respond.  I don't see a need to send out something in the mail.

For my September 2, 2013 wedding, we are planning on sending invites out by March 1.  Our RSVP date is July 15, about a month and a half before the wedding.

I have no idea what entrees we will have available either, so to get just get an idea of what people want, I had the following checkboxes on the RSVP's

moo. __

cluck. __

bubbles.__

the silence of vegetables growing__

Food allergies?__

It's kind of silly, but my fiancee and me thought it would be humorous to see the responses =)

I think I might do that also. I'll just wait and see what my group size is going to be when I send out the invitations and then go from there. I didn't realizse there was so much to consider when doing invitations!

I have actually seen that on a few invitation websites! I think it's a neat idea, and it gives a sense of humor.I think if I didn't have a bilingual family I might do something like that, otherwise, I would have to have two translations!

Hey ladies,

I stumbled across this thread, but you guys have been really helpful. My room block is held until June and all money is due to the travel agent by then, so I was going to send the invites out 2 months prior and ask for RSVPs 1 month after. I wasn't sure if this was ok since I know regular wedding are different, but I can see now you guys are pretty much doing the same thing.

I have never seen that. It was very amusing. My family would probably find it amusing, my fiance' family who is a very proper Indian family probably would not. Maybe I could talk him into it :-)

My date is fast approaching and I'm hoping to have my invites out to everyone by April, with RSVP by June 1st.

I did send Save the Date in December so people would have an idea.

The challenge I had is that every time I looked into booking group rates, they would not extend the date for when people would have to pay by. They pretty much would only give us a time span of 3-4 weeks. Therefore decided on which travel agent we are gonna go with. When we put our invites in the mail, we will secure a booking rate at the same time.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
