Hello Kay!

I am not confirmed yet, but am fairly certain this is where I am going to get married in May 2014! I have been debating between ILA and the Playa Pesquero, Holguin (which I have been too) but am thinking Varadero is a better location as there is more to do for our guests! The resort looks so beautiful! Have you been there before?

Thanks!!! I am on it and have found tons of info! Its great! Now I have just been looking at the Melia Las Dunas which I have heard is amazing for weddings, but I am concerned its too out of the way... and my FI is not very helpful in picking a place.... he basically says he wants it in Cuba and thats about as much input he gives me. Anyway I am still leaning towards Varadero just because its more conveniently located and close to more action for people.

Ok one piece of advice that I have learned. Don't get married on the spa terrace at 4pm. This is the original time I chose for my wedding but after watching a horrid youtube video I am going to see about getting this changed. The noise from the main pool activities is so overbearing and takes away from the ceremony. Many brides have been able to change their time to 3pm, I haven't requested this myself yet but I am going to see if it's possible.

This is why I picked the Iberostar Varadero, it is 14 km's from Varadero so I figured that will give people the opprutunity to go to Varadero if they want! We went to a wedding in Varadero 3 years ago and it was at the SLS (name has changed now) but it was at the end like 30 minutes outside of Varadero, we did make it to town once, we went with another couple and split a cab ride, but it was still expensive, we may have gone more if we had of been closer! Good luck

I am happy to see a few more Cuba Brides there doesnt seem to be very many of us!!!

Good luck Yes you can take the bus into Varadero which runs all day and goes by every resort every 30 ish min. -it makes stops at the Varadero mall, flea markets and it's a nice cheap way to see some sites. It costs 5 CUC per person for the whole day I believe it's runs from 9am-8pm and you feel completely safe without a travel guide or anything. Hey Ladies,

We visited the resort from January 17-25.  We had an amazing time, out of our 3 trips to Cuba - this has been our favourite resort wise.  The grounds are very well kept, very well staffed, entertainment was always getting people going, best food we have had in Cuba too.

We met with Giselle and she is very sweet, answering all of our questions and showing us the binder with all the options in it.  There are a lot of options for decor, flowers, etc.  - The terrace and beach area for wedding are both beautiful!

The Al La Carte's were amazing... I know most of you are doing the Cuban or Paplas and the chicken dinner was SO good.  The main buffet was also good (like I said best we have had in Cuba).  Im positive there is always something for anybody to find that they will enjoy.

We had our engagement photos done by Alexis Delgado who is a private photographer in Cuba but actually works closely with the resort photographer when 2 photographers are needed.  They were both absolutely amazing and very good at directing your photos.  (I will post some of our pictures from that).

Overall we cannot wait to have our family and friends come down to resort next year for our wedding.  You are all going to have an amazing experience and love every moment of it!

Oh I almost forgot, the theatre entertainment starts around 9:45pm every night, and they were different every night throughout our stay.  All shows were very amazing and entertaining.

Let me know if you have any questions! Kay xo

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
