Mother & wedding dress

Recommended Posts

I already have my wedding dress bought & my mother doesn't know yet. I've had this dress picked out for quite sometime & so happy that I finally have it :)  so, my question is, should I let her see the dress or should I wait for my wedding day ? I really don't want to ruin the omg, look @ my daughter moment, but yet, I'm so excited & can't wait for her to see the dress. I think she would also be disappointed if I don't show her :/

My mom was with me when I bought the dress, and I've sent her pics each time I've tried it on (for pick up, and fittings). She never gets tired of seeing me in it, and tells me she always gets teary eyed lol (she lives in FL and I'm in TX).

She's flying out to be here with me when I pick it up after the alterations, and she's really excited.

I say all of that to get to this point: she will have that OMG moment whenever you show it to her. But I bet she'll have it every time she sees you in the dress, if you choose to show her now. That's the way most moms are!

My mom was with me when I purchased my dress.  I couldn't imagine her not seeing it before my wedding day.  She was with me when I had alterations to make sure it looked good.  She also had to fix a few beads that came loose during transport to Jamaica for my wedding.  I think it would be nice for your mom to see the dress before hand.  That way if you need to she can help you with accessories.

  • 3 weeks later...

The first time I went dress shopping I went with my girls....and the next 4 times I went with my mom. I found the dress (finally!) It was great to have my mom with me - she was a big help. However, now my girls didnt get to see my dress and they want to see it - but I told them that I want them to have the moment when they first see me in it - they are not too happy about it - but i think it will be worth it in the end!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
