Turks and Caicos Wedding - Veranda

Hi everyone!  So I am planning a wedding for May of 2013 and love the concept of an all inclusive for myself and my guests.  Does anyone have any feedback on the Veranda Resort?  I am looking for some insight on the resort itself as well as their facilities to host a wedding.  I am a causal bride, looking for a relaxed laid back feel with good food and an understated elegance... any advice?  Thanks!

Overall, I was satisified with Tropical Imaging. We got some beautiful shots. I was disappointed though that we didn't get some very key shots (e.g. me and my brother and sister or me and my brother and sister and my husband) and that we didn't get more of the reception. During the reception the photographers were often sitting down and they later told me they had never heard of a bride being concerned about reception shots and that they normally just look to take pictures when something is happening. Since we had paid them to be there until a certain amount of time I would have preferred to have them take pictures throughout the reception (candids and of certain groups (e.g. me and all my law school friends, my groom and his high school friends, etc) and not just at big moments (e.g. cake cutting). I felt like I had to ask for a picture and didn't feel I could fully enjoy my meal because I felt like if I wasn't directing photos to be taken it wouldn't happen. After paying so much I didn't feel like I was being overly demanding in that either. I was also disappointed as we got only two or three pictures of the cocktail hour and absolutely none of us entering or at the cocktail hour.  That said, I think they are by far the best on the island and I would not skimp on the photo aspect. And I considered bringing a photographer I absolutely love from home but that is difficult because they don't know the lay of the land as well as Tropical Imaging. Hope that helps.

I enjoyed our wedding at the Veranda. Our guests loved the hotel and the food. And the food at the reception was above and beyond the "regular" menu so it felt special.  The general manager, John, was fantastic.  The wedding planner there, Shameka, is really sweet but VERY slow to get back to you on things and often only with partial answers.  I would definitely engage another wedding planner if you are having your wedding there as a kind of cross-check on things.  We had a bonfire on the beach after the reception which was awesome. Overall, a great time. Destination weddings are just a lot of work and a bit stressful so no matter where you choose keep that in mind. :)

I just looked on the Veranda's website and there was no pricing information listed. I'm wondering, since it's all inclusive, what the general pricing was? What does it compare to? It looks like the cheaper hotels are about $200/night and the more expensive about $400-500.  Thanks!

Hi everyone- I'm also looking into the Veranda to have my summer 2013 wedding. Here is the problem, they just got bought out by Beaches. They released their prices on Monday. The prices are great; however, they don't have the wedding packages together yet. Besides the organization factor, what about the construction? What will that entail and for how long? I really love the Veranda but there are too many unknowns right now. Anyone have more information about this? Thank you! I really want to find an all inclusive resort that will be a relaxing and beautiful.

Just so you know, as of December 17, the Veranda is now owned by Beaches Resort.   They will still honor reservations made with the Veranda, but future bookings will be via Beaches now at their pricing.  It is going to be a new part of the resort called the Key West Village.  This was an announced on island around the 1st of December and was a big surprise on island at the quick handover.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
