Help with Return Address

Recommended Posts

Ok, so here is my dilemma. MY FI and I live in separate states, but I am the one doing all of the wedding planning, of course. So for the return address info on the Save the Dates and Invitations, what address should I put? I will move to where he is evetually after we are officially married, our job won't allow me to move in advance. So I feel like for etiquette purposes, I need to put his address as the return, but in reality I will probably never receive the stuff from him because who knows what he will do with it.

I wanted to order a custom stamp for the return address info, but it seems like a waste since I will be moving. What's a girl to do? confused.gif

Hi there! I am in the exact same situation with my FI living in another province (we will actually likely have to live apart for up to a year even after we get married, but I digress...).  I addressed my STD's with the return address as my current address, and plan to do so for the wedding invitations and RSVPs as well.  If there are etiquette rules for this scenario, I am not aware, but even if there are, I think that in today's day and age it's something that's fair to ignore! Just my two cents :)

Thanks so much, I kind of had the same thought but you know how you second guess yourself every step of the way? I just needed validation from someone else that it was ok for me to just put my information on the invitations. I was thinking that people would expect me to put the both of us on there, although they know we don't live together or even in the same state!

Instead of ordering a custom stamp since your address will be changing after the wedding, you can always order return address labels from Vistaprint.. They often offer them for free, just pay shipping! I also agree & think you are fine to use your address! Happy Planning! ;)

My now husband and I were living in two different cities when we were mailing out all our STDs and invitations.  We just put both our names with the address I was living at.  That way they knew it was from both of us, not just me.  When we sent out our thank yous after the wedding we included a little thing about our new address so everyone knew we had a new address.  Maybe you could do something like that.

I love my fiance more than anything in the world, but would I trust him with the RSVP's for our wedding ~ Nope.

I would just hold off on getting the custom stamp until you are married and living together. For now just go to Vistaprint and have some address labels printed out. They are very reasonably priced and have a HUGE selection!! I literally spent over an hour last weekend picking out return labels to put on our STD's!!

Thanks for the good advice everyone. I am so OCD about everything, so the reason I was looking at the stamps was because I didn't want the label to be white on a navy blue envelope or something like that. I can just run them through my printer, I'm just trying to streamline my process!  I will most definitely use my mailing address, because I am convinced that his house is the place where your lost socks from the dryer go! It never makes sense how he misplaces things and he lives alone so he can't blame anyone else! Oh well.

Avery makes "clear" labels that you can print at home. They aren't totally clear, but more like a cloudy cellophane or velum paper - but way, way better than white.

This is what we're using on our invitation envelopes. they look really good!! I will try to take a picture later today when the lighting is better.

here are my envelopes - orange, a7's (5x7). You can see the label isn't completely clear, but it's also not a stand-out  bright white either. hope that helps!

PS - I should have said they also make these as return address labels; I have those as well, I just haven't printed them yet.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
