Hey Ladies,

I saw that there was a thread for 2012 Calgary Brides, so I thought I would start one for 2013. We can share ideas and planning tips or just chat about destination wedding ideas! :)

We are getting married Jan.30/13 at the Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton Jamaica.

Hows everyone else's planning going and where are you getting married?

:)

I'm Edmonton... close enough? Marrying January 20, 2013 in the Iberostar Rose Hall Beach, Montego Bay Jamaica.

How's your planning going? I've ordered a lot of stuff online, so if youre looking to import something into Canada let me know, I did a lot of research already!

My FI and I are booking grand palladium lady hamilton on monday to be wed end of April 2013 (date to still be figured out), are you guys doing oot bags or welcome bags for your guests?

Hey! Awesome, im so pumped for our trip at the GPLH! :)

We aren't doing welcome bags. We are paying a little extra to have some extra stuff put into the rooms when people arrive. And we are going to do a welcome letter and post card! But I love the idea of welcome bags! The knot.com has awesome stuff to put in them!

We are going to do custom made tumblers too! The resort does welcome bags, but they are $$$ super pricy!

I ordered Fans from Oriental Trading: http://www.orientaltrading.com/natural-fans-a2-34_1124.fltr

I ordered Chair sashes from Tableclothsfactory.com

I was particularly happy with the Chair sashes, they are an amazing price and really perfect. I ordered the Organza red ones.

The fans are 'sufficient', but super light, all different sizes and a little different shapes, and probably won't last too long. At least they are light to bring into Jamaica in the suitcase. Considering the price, I would probably do it again.

I ordered sky lanterns from ebay, but I'm a little concerned about starting a fire, so im going to test one out here first hehe. Also not sure how 100 guests will light them, since I can't bring lighters or matches on the plane (even in checked luggage!)...

I ordered individually wrapped tylenols and emergen-c's for the guests from Ebay.

I am going to order custom travel mugs from Factory 21 on Ebay. FYI, they expect customs to Canada to come to $60 on top of their prices posted. (for the 100 mug lot)

We were going to do just 'survival kit' welcome bags, but I think we will do the mugs instead, and inside just put some little things (tylenol and Emergen-C's that we had already bought, and maybe some condoms as a joke).

We made some custom T-Shirts on Vista print, to give as prizes to our guests... ex 'sun burn award', 'party animal award' etc. We also made lawn signs to put in the sand by the wedding, saying 'wedding in progress, please be respectful'. Im a little worried about men in speedos in the wedding pictures hehe. I think we will get post cards from Vista print too.

Im still on the hunt for white star fish. Someone mentioned that the Winners in AB has some, so ill be checking around there.

I know I ordered more but can't think of what right now...

I got part of my bridesmaids gifts from CrossIron Mills shopping outlet right outside Calgary. I got them Coach Beach Towels, came to $40 each and they are sooo nice!

I love that place!

um wow! can you plan my wedding please?? haha

Youeway ahead of me and I'm only getting married 10 days later haha...you have got me motivated!

I found really pretty silk white fans at Michaels, 18 for $15 i believe! one of my bridesmaids is going to personalize them for me. they fold up, so super easy to put in a suit case!

I was looking for a personalized tumbler for our guests, but they are expensive! So i also was looking at the factory21 travel mugs! not sure what we are going with yet.

One cool thing we bought recently was the centerpieces...they are from pier one. Match our theme perfectly and were cheap. The resort was going to charge $150 per centerpiece, so all said and done ours will be $40 ish each. Just going to be an issue getting them to Jamaica. lol they are big candles and bulky!

Last year I found some white starfish at Dollarama , and of course when I need them they are no where to be found! But they said they may still get them in! I will keep you posted if I see any.

I'm going to look into tshirts too, might try to make them myself...not sure yet!!

So much to think about! Thanks for sharing your progress! Its amazing! :)

Hi!

I'm getting married at the Majestic Colonial Resort in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic on 17 May, 2013.

Beach wedding at 1pm, cruise up the Bavaro coast is set from 2-5pm (cocktail hour), dinner at 6.30-8pm and party after.

I sent out the save the dates in March/April, I just sent out my invitations last week (only because they are going to Ireland and beyond)

I have ordered my dress, bridesmaids dresses have been picked.

Favors havent been ordered, but we were going to get the travel mugs and other bits from Factory21 on ebay as well, but closer to the date so we know how many to order.  We have an RSVP date of March 1st to plan accordingly!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
