Secrets St James/Wild Orchid Weddings 2012/2013

Recommended Posts

Hi!

Congrats!!

I'm booked for Secrets St. James on April 27, 2013.  I won't be doing a site visit before the wedding and there's not a ton of information online so I'm dying for tips/info from other brides or hotel guests!  Anything you can share from what you saw when you were there? What's your wedding date?  Have you had much contact with the WC yet?  Sorry to bombard you with questions. :)

Hi!

Congrats!!!

I booked Secrets St. James for April 27, 2013, but I won't be doing a site visit prior to the wedding.  I'm dying for any info/tips from other brides.  Got anything to share after your visit? :)  Have you booked a date yet?  And have you had much contact with the WC?  Sorry for all the questions, just got so excited seeing another Secrets bride! :)

Trying this again since my first time it was held for the moderator (I'm a newbie!)

Anyhoo, I am getting married at Secrets St. James on 4.27.13 and I'm very excited, but I won't be doing a site visit before the wedding so I'm a bit in the dark about what to expect.  Anything you can share from your recent visit?

So happy to meet another Secrets St. James bride here!  Congrats!!

I wondered why there is so little information on SSJ and SWO. I originally planned on having my wedding at SSJ. Requested quotes and had all the package details ready to go... but I just couldn't find any reviews of information on their weddings so I ended up dropping it and going with another resort.

I did hear that the resort is really nice. My Travel agent said it had good feedback from travels but didn't have much on the wedding side of things.

To bad for lack of information as it looks nice. Interested in hearing if anyone has been there and their experience was though!!

We stayed at Secrets St. James when they first opened.  We had a really great time and saw 2 small weddings (bride and groom plus a hand full of guests).  We really enjoyed the hotel, I can't speak for their wedding process.  But the weddings we saw were in gazebos overlooking the water.  Only bad side to these locations is that they're right next to some hot tubs...which is why we saw them (because we were in the hot tub after an afternoon rain).  We would have considered it for our wedding, but we had to choose a place that would allow kids at the ceremony.

Hey there! Sorry for the long time to respond, I have been swamped and haven't had a chance to check!!! I am now all booked and confirmed for a sunset wedding at Secrets St James/Wild Orchid on March 13th, 2013!! Any questions you have about weddings/resorts, let me know I have been there for a wedding 2 months ago and have been in contact with the WC. I have a lot of information from her and she responds pretty quickly and in a friendly matter! I was originally booked at the Iberostar Grand Rose Hall but changed to Secrets after visiting (plus there is almost nothing including in the weddings at the Iberostar!). I have lots of pics and information so anything you would like, send me a private message and I will give you my email, it is probably easier that way!...Do you have a photographer yet? I booked an amazing one and am very excited now that it is all booked and confirmed!! :)

Hi there.  I'm not getting married at this resort, as I was married in Jamaica in January.  We are considering this resort for our honeymoon later this year and was wondering if anyone can tell me if there are any major differences between the two and which would be better to stay at?

Hi JayKay,

I was there about a month ago just for vacation and can help with your questions a bit. The two properties are right next to each other, and so it seems like more or less one place. Either side will be fine as it's super easy to go between either. The spa, fitness center, and tennis courts are on the St James side, whereas basically all the restaurants are on the Wild Orchid side. There is one lunch spot by the pool at St James though. So if you're looking for more convenience to the food/night club/coffee bar, go with the Wild Orchid side. And if you're looking for a quieter time, you can go with the St James (since not as many people walking around there). But really either is fine!!! They have activities and such at both pools throughout the day and walking from end to end of the two properties probably takes just 5-10 minutes or so. Have fun!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
