Hello all Future Atlantis / Cloisters Brides!!..

My FI and I just recently decided on our plans for our 2013 Destination Wedding. (Thanks to our fabulous TA Barbara Vong, aka Babs, whom I found on this site.)  We are now awaiting our group rates for the Atlantis and the available wedding dates/times for the Cloisters.

I am soo excited about the whole process now and I think I've read every post dated back to 2009 that included the words "Atlantis" and "Cloisters". So now I am hoping there are new brides out there whom are planning their future wedding destination at these places so we can share our current plans, tips, ideas, and advice.

Ahh, awesome!!.. And Congrats!!

Oh my, the pictures I have seen of the royal overlook are absolutely amazing!!..

We are getting our guests to stay at Atlantis.. Having our ceremony at the Cloisters and the reception at Luciano's. (Or at least that is our hopes.)  :o)  I love the reception sites at Atlantis, but we about fell out when we saw the reception dinner was a minimum of $150pp.

Is all of your guests staying at the Atlantis?

Hi!

Yes all of our guests are staying at Atlantis they gave us a really great grouo rate for our guests so its relatively affordable we have about 25 people booked already & are hoping no more then 30 as it is 150pp! Have you gotten in contact with anyone at the atlantis about your wedding? Everyone seems to be very helpful when it comes to planning. we are getting wildflowers to do our linens & flowers & they have been amazing! Im just looking forward to everything coming together & being stress free on our wedding day!

May I ask what group rates they gave you?  We have been working directly through our travel agent and she has been responding with One and Only and Atlantis. (She's Great!) Our group rates seem high though, we are guessing because the wedding day is about 14 months from now.

I'll have to check them out when we start looking into flowers. :o) I'm glad the process is going very well for you!..

Are you doing OOT bags?

Who are you getting to marry yall? I've read many many great things about Matthew Sweeting (spelling?) I think we may go with him.

Hi! My fiance and I are getting married June 22nd in the Bahamas!  We are staying at the Cove, getting married at a catholic church and having our reception at Luciano's!

Do you have any good ideas for gift bags for your guests? or something along the lines of gift bags? We are trying to think of stuff that our guests will really appreciate while they are down there...

look forward to hearing form you! Let me know if you have any questions!

CONGRATS!!! :o)  Is your wedding this year or next year?

My wedding colors and orange and fushia/pink.  If you go to my profile you can see all of the pictures I have posted on different threads.

Here is what I've bought so far:

  • OOT Bags at Old Navy $1 in my wedding colors
  • Kleenex(8 for $1), First Aid kits ($1), Chapstick (3 for $1) from Dollar Tree
  • Lanyards (40 for $20)
  • Playing cards (free)

I plan on buying pasminias for the ladies.. (waiting to get a confirmed # before I buy these)

And since I've read a ton of reviews saying Atlantis is expensive when it comes to snacks and water, I am planning to make snack bags for all my OOT bags. I think a gallon sized bag with chips, crackers, other snacks, Crystal light packets, etc. And buying a few cases of water at the grocery store once we get there and put a few in each bag.)

What are you planning on putting in yours? Are you doing any other DIYs?

I love it! An italian style reception in Nassau!! While I have been to Luciano's, I heard it's great. We tend to stick to Bahamian food when were there (my fioncee has to go to Nassau once a year for business). I had no idea that that the catholic church would let you get married in a diffrent church than your own. They always seam so inflexiable. Thats great tho. I bet it's really old and pretty, like alot of the old buidlings around there.

I love all of your ideas for the gift bag! I need to check Old Navy...what a great price!  I was thinking along the lines of snacks and water as well.  Maybe sunscreen and some other essentials as you mentioned.  But yes, everything is very expensive at the Atlantis and its not super convenient to buy snacks, especially at night.  So I think having snack food and drinks for guests is a great idea!

We don't have any other DIY ideas planned....other than the itinerary we are putting with the gift bag and the church ceremony program.  Our guest book is probably going to be the thumb print tree (we are trying to find a palm tree) have you seen those before?  I think they are pretty unique and would be nice to get framed and then hang in our house.

How were you planning to get your gift bags to the room?  I haven't figured that out yet!

The Catholic Church is pretty strict, we have to do a lot of paper work and what not but the only real rule is that we have to be married in a church.  The church we found is very nice...and air conditioned! lol

Luciano's is great!  The food is AMAZING and so affordable (compared to Atlantis prices).  We are having the reception in the area called "Tivoli Gardens" and the back drop is Atlantis...so its a pretty neat view.

What are you ladies doing for rehearsal dinner? (not sure if you talked about this in an earlier thread!)  Any other big plans for the week?

And we are getting married this coming june!! So it is arriving very quickly!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
