Majestic Colonial/Elegance Brides 2012-2013

Recommended Posts

Hey ladies! welcome.gif I thought I would start a new fresh thread for all the 2012 and 2013 brides as there has been so many updated changes what is allowed and in pricing, rules and additionals..

This way all information we read is new and were not following advice from the old threads that is no longer allowed for the resort and all info is up to date and useful :)

Should we start with a roll call?  Dates, Times & Locations?

I'm January 23, 2013  2PM @ The Gazebo :)

Looking forward to sharing planning details, questions and everything Majestic with you all :)

Cheers!!  cheers.gif

I am getting married February 16, 2013 5pm Gazebo ceremony, Steakhouse dinner & Wet Bar reception. Have my cake picked out, my bouquet, found my dress (but haven't ordered it since its too soon and I need to loose a couple of pnds to get to my normal weight being madly in love has made me fat lolz), website is 80% complete, budget is created, guestlist is done, we are in process of creating our save the dates, we already know the design of our invitations & now I am working with prices and options with the travel agent. woooooo lots of work but this site made it very easy!!

Hi my name is Nicole. I just commented on the old thread but then I seen this one. The Colonial is on my "short list" of resorts. We are getting married in February or March 2013. What made you choose the Colonial? I emailed my TA to tell her we wanted a DW and she sent me back one in Jamaica, one in Mexico and one in the DR (the Colonial).

I'm confident we should go to Punta Cana but what made you pick THIS resort?

Hi Nicole!  For myself it was an easy choice..  My brother was married at the Elegance back in 2009

( Colonials sister resort) and I vacationed at the Colonial back in 2008..  ( I actually met my fiance the day I returned home!  lol )

My choice wasn't hard.  I looked at what was most important to me.  My choice had to be a child friendly resort.

(my son will be 3 and a half and my nephew 2 at the time of our travel)

I viewed all the information on the kids activities, areas and reviews and I was sold.

I didn't want to invite +60 guests anywhere that I have never been before not being confident of service & food.

 With my past experience,  my brothers wedding being absolutely perfect in every way and knowing my parents have also vacationed there themselves a few other times I am confident in my choice;

When I was there the food was really good and the service was outstanding! The resort itself is beautiful!  There are really funny entertainment shows they do ( I saw a michael jackson one that I found pretty neat ) and a variety of things to do...  I figured having over 5 different vacations at the resort throughout my family with all good feedback was a good sign :)  There are so many reviews that confirmed this was a right choice for me.

The wedding planners I have already been in contact with so far are awesome, very helpful & full of information.

I guess my best advice would be to look into the resorts/wedding packages and see which one fits youand your vision best :)  Good Luck!

i was just married at the Elegance yesterday, it was a nice calm wedding, but the best decision I made was having my reception at La Barcaza! It was amazing! If I could have only paid for 2 more hours..it was sooooo much fun!

Don't worry future brides! My guests loved it here, very relaxing. A few HATED...not disliked...HATED all the food here except for the steak restaurant....just to forewarn you.  I felt the same....but its a all inclusive resort...I made due :)

The cowboy ribeye at the steakhouse is the BEST! I highly recommend it!

I'm so glad you enjoyed it!  Are you going to write a review or share some pictures!  What wedding package did you pick?  Did you do any special add ons.  Do you have any tips?

I just got my pricing from my TA and I am deciding between the ME and the Gran Bahia Esmeralda!  It's going to be a tough decision.

Soo glad I was following Punta Bride and found this thread... lol...   :o)

We was planning to get married at Atlantis/cloister in the Bahamas but now We are looking at getting married at Majestic Elegance on May 29th, 2013 @ the Gazebo.. Thinking maybe a 4:00 ceremony.. Wasn't sure of a good time but I don't want a big gap between the ceremony and dinner.

We just got our group rates from our TA the other night and ME sent my TA 9 attachments if anyone wants them. (I can post or email)  But they seem to be the same info as Heidi aka "Tink" and Cindy from here had sent me. These ladies just had a little bit more info purtaining to reception dinners.

I've stocked you and subscribed to a few threads you were on too haha

I want a late afternoon ceremony as well.  No earlier than 4:00.  I think this is a good time for a few reasons ...

-Not as hot

-Not as many people gawking (a lot are gone back to their rooms by this time)

-Less time between ceremony and reception

-None of your guests need to miss the morning/afternoon by the beach/pool

What is your group rate?  I got mine and it was $1521 (Leaving Sun May 5th - Sun May 11th).

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
