Recommended hotels in Jamaica

Recommended Posts

Hi Stacy29,

My fiance and I have booked with the Gran Bahia Principe Runaway Bay Jamaica (GBP).  Our TA is guessing it will be $1200-$1400 pp  (we aren't going until Feb 2013, so we based on 2012 pricing) for 7 days AI, which was reasonable to us for it being a 5 star and for Jamaica.  Friends and relatives have used Gran Bahia's in Dominican for weddings and they are a beautiful resort.  Initially I wanted Jamaica but everyone said it was too much money, but when we found the GBP and it compared to others we where looking at in Mexico and Dominican I was sold, especially since it had everything we were looking for and lots of things to do/see to occupy our guests.

You should check out this thread http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/51518/any-gran-bahia-principe-runaway-bay-brides-out-there if it is of interest to you.  Be warned though, there are a lot of pages to go through, but all the brides and brides-to-be have provided a huge amount of info and it is super helpful!!

Hope this helps....Happy Planning!!

I am also getting married at the Gran Bahia In Jamaica, and like Kim said, its an amazing resort and great value for the price.  They also offer free wedding package which is what sold us!

Thanks Ladies!

Gran Bahia was on my list for one of the hotels I was gonna look into...1200-1400 pp sounds great! My maximum budget was 1500/pp. I am also looking to get married Feb 2013 but havent confirmed anything yet...thanks for your help! One hotel I really want is Iberostar Rose Hall Suites but I think that will be way too expensive for my guests :(

Hi Stacy! I checked out Gran Bahia as well, I've stayed in this chain in Mexico and loved it but the reviews were better for the Iberostar and I really liked that they only have one wedding/day so it's not a wedding factory with wedding parties bumping into each other. The Suites was my first choice but worked out to be well over my max so I opted for the Beach, this way those who want to can spend more and stay at the Suites or Grand and those who can't will stay at the Beach but everyone can go to the wedding at the Beach. I haven't read anything bad about this place, I can't wait to see for myself in April! You're in a great spot because you're so early! We started our search a bit late so early bird specials were expiring too quickly.

Good luck!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
