So I suppose I'll start!  I joined this forum in late 2006 (wow, that was a long time ago!) when I was planning my wedding.  I was the first Puerto Vallarta bride on the forum and the first bride to get married (or even hear about!) Las Caletas ... hard to believe, right?

We were had our wedding ceremony on June 8, 2007 on the private beach at Las Caletas, and then went on our honeymoon to Hawaii where we were legally married.  I honestly don't know what I would have done without this forum ... and as you can tell by the fact that I'm still around, I still don't know what I'd do!  While I'm not planning a wedding anymore, I have made some great friends here and hope to make even more.

I was born and raised in the western suburbs of Minneapolis (Maple Grove, Plymouth), and recently moved to the western suburbs of Chicago (Downers Grove) to be closer to my husband's family so I've always lived in the Midwest.  I'm not a fan of winters AT ALL, but yet I still live here!

I have 2 kids and have been a SAHM since my first was born in 2008.

Can't wait to get to know you all!

Ann - you're in Downers?! Me too!! I'm right by South High School!

I'm Erica, I'm getting married April 3, 2012 in St. Thomas, while we're on a cruise. Everything for the wedding is basically planned and done. At this point, we're waiting on final guest count so we can do OOT bags and other things that require a number.

Most recent wedding update: picked up our rings yesterday and will be mailing invites this week!

We're also in the process of planning our AHR which will be April 20, 2012 at a local event hall. I'm finding the AHR to be much more work and stress than the actual wedding!!

Um, yeah, you're like 5 minutes from me! I'm off of 63rd Street.

Next summer, I'll have to convince you to come to some of the Friday night car shows in downtown Downers. We're out there every Friday evening from memorial day to labor day with our mustangs, in the lot by the train station.

I can't wait to just get on the boat. I need a vacation! :-) Right now we have 13 booked between cruising with us and meeting us on the island. I'm sure the next five month will fly by, but I'm anxious already!

Hi!  I'm coming by to introduce myself... I'm also a midwest bride and a chicago bride! My name is Jennifer and I'm getting married June 29th 2012 in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.  This is a second marriage for my FI and I and I have three kids (15, 9, 4).  So between work, kids and wedding planning I'm a super busy and a bit stressed. But I am super excited for the wedding and vacation :-)

Hi, Jennifer!  I bet you have your hands full ... you'll be so ready for the vacation when it comes!  Where in Chicago do you live?

Erica, we totally were at the car shows the summer ... more just to hang out downtown w/the kids and go to dinner, but we were there!

Hey Ladies!!! My name is Colleen and I live on the south side of Chicago. We will be getting married at the Dreams Riviera Cancun Labor day weekend of next year. I absolutely love this forum and everything about it. It has helped me come up with some great ideas and just helped vent about the craziness that comes along with a destination wedding.

hi, colleen!

do any of you have any suggestions for discussion topics - maybe AHR locations, meet up discussions, or anything local to the midwest area?  i'd probably start one for the Chicagoland area, Minneapolis, etc.  Let me know!  You can respond here or send me a PM.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
