Who is the best DJ in the Cancun/Riviera Maya Area??? PLEASE HELP!

Recommended Posts

Hi!

We are trying to decide whether to book DJ Temo at DJ Doremixx or DJ Mannia for our upcoming wedding on May 28th, 2011.  On a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being the best) how would you rate them? Do you think DJ Mannia is worth the extra money?

A big thing for us is announcements at the reception. Do they make announcements during the reception (first dance, cake cutting, father daughter dance, etc...) ? Does they speak good English?  Do you have any photos or video of the reception with DJ Temo or DJ Mannia you could send me?

How would you rate their choice of music throughout the reception?

Thank you an dI look forward to hearing from you!!

Melissa

I absolutely LOVED all of the vendors we used (Del Sol, Mediamorfosis, Dolcet, Vanessa James at Diseno Floral) EXCEPT DJ Mannia. Mostly because the DJ himself was unprofessional and treated my family poorly while my groom and I were getting our pictures taken; this is despite regular and professional communications with the people in the DJ Mannia Office.

The music was not great (from the perspective of about 50 guests from the US and 50 guests from Mexico). They played a mix of music, but I really wished we had given a playlist in advance. I didn't do this because of the numerous email exchanges and assurances they had given me. We should have done a playlist and this was more our fault.

But I thought the DJ was very unprofessional with my family and that is the reason I have very negative things to say about DJ Mannia.

Hi Melissa,

I will be using DJ Julian from Mood Event Services weddings@moodevents.com.mx .  Mood Event services have lower prices than Doremixx and Mannia.  DJ Julian speaks fluent English (he lived in the U.S. for a while) and he always responds quickly to my questions and gives me plenty of details.  I met DJ Julian a couple of weeks ago, he happened to be traveling to Houston (where I live), so we met to discuss my reception.  He used to work for Senor Frogs in Cancun. I gave him some examples of the music that I like (mostly top 40 songs) and he has all those songs....they have a collection of over 60,000 songs.  They seem to have really good sound equipment too, they're always updating their equipment. They have a lightup dance floor, but I haven't decided yet if I will use that.  I suggest that you check into Mood Event services, if you haven't decided on a DJ yet.

We were married May 2010 at the Iberostar Resorts in the Riviera Maya and used DJ Bob from their list of recommended vendors.  Hands down would insist anyone concerned with a language barrier or music familiarity should use him!!!  The only contact I have saved is his email address so I'm sure he could refer you to his website and give you a quote according to your venue.  He is a young retiree from the US so he not only has a huge selection of music but is right-on with typical American reception traditions.  In addition to our playlist he mixed in the kind of music our guests were digging and we had family from ages 20's to late 60's.  Our family was having such a good time my sister paid him on the spot to continue for another hour which he happily was able to accommodate.  We appreciated that connection to the US.  Even with a broken kneecap...his volleyball injury did not dim his enthusiasm.  Very highly recommended!

DJ Bob's email:   boradem@aim.com

Tell him "Hi from Matt & Nicki from VA who got married at Iberostar last May"

Melissa,

Hi my name is Jamie. I saw your post that you are planning to go with Mood events.  Im thinking of using them as well but was wondering about their pricing!  When is your date and have you heard about any reviews from them?  I have not found any on this website thus far.

Hi Jamie, My wedding will be on June 11, 2011 at Gran Bahia Principe Tulum. DJ Julian can give you the price quote. He responded to me with the price the same day I emailed him at wedding@moodevents.com.mx The price will depend on how many guests you will have. Because they have different equipment based on different scenarios. But I did find the price to be lower than Doremixx and Mannia. Although I havent had my wedding yet, I did meet Julian a few weeks ago in person and he's very well organized and fluent in English. I'm really excited about my upcoming wedding and can't wait for the party!!! Christi

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
