2011 & 2012 PLAYACAR PALACE BRIDES!!!!!!

Recommended Posts

  • 2 weeks later...

I have been looking at Playacar Palace for our destination wedding as well...we actually just went to visit the resort about a month ago! I've been considering January 2012 as well...it's just too early to research that date right now!

Do you know alot about the resort or have mostly done your research online?

I'm from PA as well...Allentown area, so we are kind of neighbors!!

One concern I just came across is that on the Palace wedding website it said that civil/legal ceremonies are performed in Spanish only and an interpretor is available...this surprised me?!??

Awww, we are definitely kinda neighbors! My fiancé and I got engaged in July and knew we wanted to have a DW, but had noooo idea where. We decided on Riviera Maya over Jamaica, Bahamas, Punta Cana, etc bc we wanted to go somewhere where we could actually LEAVE the resort. Once I did some (ok, a lot) of online research, we were torn between Barcelo and PP. After reading on TripAdvisor, and talking to some other brides who were married there (who also were so awesome and friended me on FB to show me their pics) we decided on PP. What did you think of the site visit? I love that it's small, but right in the middle of everything - plus the sister resort on Cozumel definitely helped sell me :) As far as the ceremony, after considering the fact that the ceremony would be in Spanish, the legal requirements, and all of the extra charges (especially the translation fees for all documents), we decided to very quietly get married here before we leave (or after if we can). We are not telling any of our guests and then we will be having a symbolic ceremony in Mexico. No one will be the wiser :) This way we can write our own vows and have the ceremony in English without all the extra BS. There's actually a forum on here about it. Of course our anniversary date will be January 6th - the date we speak our vows to each other in front of our family and friends

Hi ladies!  I am also a 2012 bride and have chosen PP for our DW. And Perry1217, my fiance and I are also doing the symbolic there and considering that to be our true anniversary date. We figure it will bring the cost down and we can use that extra money on the reception, etc.

So, have either of you contacted the hotel to find out when they will be booking for 2012? We would also like to book as soon as possible to make sure that we get the date we've chosen.

Well, hope both of you have a Happy New Year! I'll be checking in again soon :)

Hey there RMBride2B!  Congrats on your engagement!!  I actually just contacted them yesterday to see when they were going to start booking for 2012, and she told me that they just got the e-mail telling them they were starting to book yesterday morning!  The girl that I spoke to said to go on to the Palace Resorts Wedding site and just fill out the reservation request.  If the site hasn't been updated to reflect that they are accepting 2012 reservations, just to put down the same date but with 2011 as the year.  Then, in the "comments" field at the end, indicate that your request is for the year 2012.

Yaa!  This is so exciting :)  What is the date you decided on?

Oh, and one last thing.  My fiance and I had tossed around the idea of getting legally married AFTER we come back from Mexico.  This way, we wouldn't be rushing around before the trip (especially since we would be leaving for RM on January 2nd) and it wouldn't take anything away from our symbolic ceremony - which we would be considering our wedding date.  I checked with the rep from Palace Resorts, and she said we could do that - they don't require a marriage certificate to perform a symbolic ceremony (believe it or not some places do!)  The only thing we would miss out on is the honeymoon package which is the bottle of sparkling wine, late check out and t-shirts.  I can live with that!

Hi again!! Our date is currently set for 6/2/12 (its a Saturday).

And that's exactly what we were going to do. We want to do the legal part when we get back. I don't want to do it before, because I don't want it to feel like we've done it before, ya know.  I'd rather we get the full effect on the beach at PP :) We want to get the non-denominational Christian Minister, so hopefully it'll feel a little more like a church wedding. Are you getting married on the beach too? :) I'm so excited!  And thanks for starting this thread btw! I look forward to all the planning in the months ahead of us.

Also, are you getting a Travel Agent?  I think I may just get one for the bargaining part and to answer all our guests questions, etc.  We met with one and he said he'd basically plan everything, but I kind of enjoy figuring out cool ideas and finding ways to save, etc. so, we'll see how this goes.

Hi Ladies...I am so excited to read all of your posts because just last year, I was in your position.  I got married at the PP this past October, and it was the most wonderful decision we ever made!!  Please feel free to ask me questions, friend me on facebook (Tanya Armenti Manon) or look thru my pics that are posted on the PP 2009/2010 brides on the form.

You ladies are making the right decision with the Palace, although, I will say this, DO NOT get discouraged when they on site planners don't contact you right away or take forever to answer your questions...they will eventually get to it and to be honest, once you are there, they are the most amazing people to work with, they are sure to cross every "t" and dot every "i"

Happy Planning Girls!!!!

Awww, congrats!  A June wedding sounds amazing!  We are also going to be married on the beach - we are going to go with the complimentary package, and then do any add-ons from there.  And I'm so excited for all the planning too, thanks for posting!!!

I think that we are going to use a travel agent for the exact same reasons.  I still have to investigate it a bit, but a few months ago I did talk to one of the travel agents on this site.  We'll see!!  I guess I should probably get on that!!   We're actually getting ready to send out our STDs - I figured, send them out a year in advance with a wedding website listed, and then we can update guests on there!

Oh and btw - HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!! 2012 is just next year now!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
