Las Caletas Couples ~ POST HERE!!! (**All LC Brides...PLEASE READ 1st post, red text)

Recommended Posts

Welcome to the new Caletas thread. This is the place to discuss and share everything Caletas.

I was also thinking that we can post a link to everyone's reviews/photos in this first post so that it's a one-stop-shop for all Caletas reviews and such, and you don't have to sift through zillions of posts.

**If you'd like a link to your review and/or photos thread added to this first post, please send me a PM with your name (username), wedding date, and the link and I will add it (do not just post it here as I might not see it)!

If you are new to this forum, have just found this thread and have questions, please take a moment to read through this thread to see if your question has already been answered.

We have booked our wedding at Las Caletas for May 25th 2010. We are extremely excited but we do not if we should keep the location a surprise or inform our guest of the location. We are having troubles picking a hotel for the entire group but we are open to suggestions. There will be approximately 60 people attending. The resort features that we are interested in are: quality food, nice pools, and an affordable all-inclusive resort. In addition, we are looking for a photographer. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.

Hello ladies and congrats Erin! Have an amazing time. Isn't Kelley just the best? I'm going to re-post my review and some photos since I only posted it about two days before the other thread was closed. Since the wedding was only two weeks ago - I think it will be helpful to all of those upcoming brides.

Next - I'll post a few more photos. Trisha

I would HIGHLY recommend that you tell your guests about Las Caletas. We had more booking because people knew it wasn't a 'typical' destination wedding where the loaction is on the public beach on the hotel property. We set-up a website and put it on our save-the-date cards. Take a peek if you'd like more info:

Sorry, I have been totally MIA...work has been crazy and I've had a few changes with the wedding (such as the date!). We are now booked for May 2nd (sunday) instead of the 1st and the second round of save the dates have gone out so I think I am back in business :) Also, I'm really excited because I have been working with Jae at Banana Cantina to set up the Welcome Reception. She has been incredible and I think it's going to be great!

Has anyone else gotten married on a Sunday?

I agree with Trisha, I think you should tell you guests about exactly what will take place in order to get to the wedding site.

Depending on your group some people might be turned off by the boat or the terrain at LC. I realize you probably want some element of surprise as we did too. So we gave our guests VERY limited info on LC itself, also kept the fire dancers a secret as well. stuff like that. I think we only told them about the boat ride and that the wedding would take place at a private beach. also told them that once they leave the hotel for the wedding they would not be returning back to the hotel until around 11:30 at night.

From what I can remember Nicole also recommends you tell your guests at least about the boat ride because in her past experience she had some weddings where the guests didn't know and she felt that they weren't really prepared for their 40 min boat ride.

We didn't tell our guests a single thing about the wedding at LC - not about the boat ride, or anything until they were leaving the resort on the bus for the marina!

I'm not sure if any of them weren't prepared for the boat ride, but we did tell them to bring a sweater, and that they would be gone all afternoon/evening - and we did supply gravol, etc...not sure if they were under prepared for the boat ride, etc or not ... looking back, we perhaps, maybe should have told them about the boat, but then again..that was the most fun and one of the most memorable things for us - keeping the secret from everyone! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
