Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya Brides??

Recommended Posts

Hey all -

We're strongly considering the Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya for our March 2010 wedding, but I'm getting a bit worried that there seems to be no other brides going there! What gives? Is there something I don't know?

I'd love to hear from anyone who's either been to a GSRM wedding, or will be hosting one...

Welcome! We attend a wedding at the Grand Sirenis in November 2007. The hotel itself is quite new and the grounds sprawling - it certainly has that "modern" feel - clean lines, grey, black, silver etc. the lobby looks like a fancy bank.

The wedding was beatiful - although not overly private so if seclusion is something you are big into then I would look at other spots at the hotel aside from the beach...

There are two things I would keep in mind - the hotel is a 2 hour bus ride from the cancun airport which is quite significant, and the beach is small (I think it's a man made lagoon and beach).

If you have specific questions ask away! The

Not sure if you have decided on this resort yet or not. My FI and I were there last August (200cool.gif and although it was a nice clean hotel, it did not feel that "mexican" to me. The one really great thing about this resort is the two open bars, one in each reception but on the lower floor. A good gathering place for your guests to meet and have drinks. The pools are okay, in comparison to Barcelo Maya Colonial/Beach resort. If you would like to see some photo's of the resort you can search through mine that I have posted. Send me a PM and I will forward the link to you if you are interested.

Good luck with planning.

Hey - thanks for the info! we actually decided to go with this resort, so I do have a question!
-How large was the wedding you attended, and do you remember which restaurant it was in?

As far as restaurants at the resort, they tend to use the restaurant areas that are the daytime buffets, if that makes any sense. There are two that come to mind immediately, both near a pool. The beach was nice and has really great snorkeling. It is smaller but more of an intimate cove with a dive shop at one end. I agree with MissyR that a beach ceremony may not be all that private, but if you are able to go off around the side of the beach (back towards the airport direction, not towards Tulum side) then it may be more private. When we were there it was not at full occupancy so everything was a little quite. They should have all the resort shops open by now and what was open was nice.

I am also considering this resort. I have been talking to the wedding coordinator there and she is very timely with her responses and has been very helpful. We are just waiting for our travel agent to find a decent price. Our wedding is in July so we were hoping that the prices would be a little better.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
