Hey Jillian, don't know if you saw the thread for Turtle Bay Cafe and Bakery, but they are great and have done tons of cakes for brides in the Riviera Maya all the way to Tulum. They also do amazing desserts, including cookies, cupcakes, chocolate covered strawberries, etc. Best of all, they've gotten great reviews and have very reasonable prices. rolleyes.gif

If you check out their website they've also got pics of some cakes they've done and their contact info: "Turtle Bay Cafe and Bakery", Akumal, Riviera Maya, Mexico, full service restaurant

No problem, what kind of cake are you looking for?

Here's another link discussing bakeries in the RM -- perhaps the suggestions other than TBC will work for you wink.gif http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t7891

I just got married and got an amazing cake done by Zaida from Dolcet Cakes in Playa del Carmen.  She delivered it to my hotel in Cancun. She made me a coconut cake with raspberry lime filling that was delicious, and the cake was so gorgeous!  Dolcet works with Fondant, and she is really an artist!  My cake was the talk of the party, it was sooo cute!  I had the figurines made by mudcards on Etsy, and Zaida came to the hotel 3 days prior to pick up the figurines.  She made the firetruck and cake out of fondant.  I loved it!   Here's her site: http://www.dolcetcakes.com/home

Although brides are a major focus of any wedding day, with guests straining to catch their first glimpses of the gown and the bouquet, there are also other sights that people greatly anticipate as well and this includes modern wedding cakes. In fact, more and more people are beginning to await their first view of the cake with a great deal of anticipation because these are now a primary element of a wedding theme.

The latest trend for wedding cakes is that they do not necessarily have to be the standard tiers of white on white icing with a simple cake topper placed on the highest level. Instead, they can be massive structures, whimsical designs and even something other than a cake altogether.

This is very true!!  I'm currently seeking out a baker who can make a mountain with climbers or high-liners or something adventurous as my clients are EXTREMISTS when it comes to the outdoors!! :)  Very fun !!

And I once had a cake made that was the dungeon castle or something like that from some videogame for the groom's cake!  It was an art piece.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
