With so many great destination location options throughout the world, choosing the perfect location for your wedding festivities can be a tough task. But the agents of Wright Travel Agency -- the official agency of the Best Destination Wedding Forum -- are experts on the most popular destination regions and they are happy to share their insight when it comes to choosing the best destination area for your dream wedding celebration. Here are five reason why getting married in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico is the right choice for you. 1. You Want to Offer Your Guests Some Fun in the Sun: Between the desert and the sea on top of idyllic weather, there's tons to do in Cabo San Lucas. From world renown deep sea fishing to scuba diving and snorkeling along the warm coast and ATV riding on the sand dunes -- you and your guests will have plenty to do throughout your stay. Cabo is a hotbed for fun in the sun, just take a stroll on the beach and you'll find yourself with a plethora of activities to keep you busy. 2. You Appreciate Great Food: Cabo San Lucas offers a delicious blend of food options in the heart of the city as well as incredible restaurants throughout the Los Cabos corridor into San Jose del Cabo. Mexican food and seafood can be found in delicious abundance in both fine eateries and cheap eats via hole in the walls -- no matter the route, there's a little something to enjoy for everyone. 3. You Enjoy a Mix of the Desert and the Sea: With temps typically ranging in the 70s and 80s, Cabo San Lucas offers a breathtaking desert landscape along the Baja California peninsula. The famous sea arch El Arco de Cabo San Lucas provides the perfect backdrop for dramatic sunsets, and here the light blue water is warm and inviting and the beaches stretch miles long, offering you endless days immersing yourself in the sun, sea and sand. 4. You Love a Good Night Life: El Squid Roe -- it's all you need to know to have a good time when it comes to enjoying the festive nightlife this town has to offer. Bars are open late and music can be heard filling the streets into the night. There's always a dance floor to enjoy when it comes to Cabo. So make sure you bring your dancing shoes and get ready to party the night away. 5. You Want a Short and Easy Commute: If you live on the West Coast or in the Southwest region of the US, you're looking at a short 2 to 3-hour flight and you'll find yourself in this Mexican paradise. Traveling to Cabo is as easy as can be and flight deals are often offered throughout the year, making it a huge draw for couples and their guests. The Casa Rolandi Restaurant in Isla Mujeres Cancun
MarieSamSanchezPhoto posted a article in Planning
The beautiful Zoetry Villa Rolandi retreat in Isla Mujeres Cancun is known for its picturesque grounds and spectacular oceanfront views, but the small all-inclusive luxury resort is also known for its award-winning Casa Rolandi restaurant, where every meal is a 5-star dining experience. Found perched cliffside along the island shores, this world renown restaurant offers diners a variety of organic à la carte dining options. The eatery also serve gluten-free and vegetarian dishes, or can accommodate any allergy or dietary restriction. Specializing in Swiss-Northern Italian cuisine, some of the restaurant’s favorites include freshly made pasta dishes and delicious seafood. Here each meal is carefully prepared using only the freshest local grown fare and heart-healthy ingredients. During a recent visit, I enjoyed a specially prepared 3-course meal for lunch. The entire meal was delicious and included a ceviche salad, homemade ravioli stuffed with wild mushrooms, and coconut ice cream for dessert. It was undoubtedly one of the very best meals I’ve ever had in the Cancun/Riviera Maya area. Casa Rolandi is one of two eateries on the property and is open for Breakfast from 7:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.; Lunch & Dinner from 12:00 p.m. – 10:30 p.m., and Late night bites from 11p.m. – 6 a.m. Reservations are not required. Hello everyone !! I just recently got engaged and have thrown myself into wedding planning as I know how quickly availability goes in good resorts. I am torn between a few hotels in Mexico and want to hear some input and people's experiences at the following resorts to help make this decision a little easier . My top pick is Azul Beaches. I love the way azul does their weddings they look absolutely beautiful. But I also want to know the ups and downs of this resort. I know it is small and boutique style which I like but I need more info.. if it too small? If I end up having more people will it be an issue to get more rooms? Do they have top shelf liquor? Etc Second choice is Azul Fives 3rd- Dreams 4th - playa mujeres If there are other good one and for a better price please let me know .. I just want my guest to have a great experience and even though I love Azul I want to make sure the people like the resort aswell! Will so so so appreciate your advice! Thank you

Hello All, I’ll be getting married at Excellence PLaya Mujeres in 2 months with 60 of our family/friends! I was wondering if anyone has gotten married there and could offer some advice… We visited the resort almost a year ago and had an amazing time and the wedding coordinator has been extremely helpful. Previous EPM brides, did you do the violinst that is included in the package during cocktail hour? If so, were you able to choose the songs that were played or were they mainly Mexican songs? I am going to walk down the aisle to a violinist – I was told the violinist would learn the song I wanted to play for me. Wondering if anyone did this and how it turned out or if its better to just play something with the speaker. Did you have a First look? We are still debating on this, but wondering if we will have enough time to take pics in between/during cocktail hour as we do not want to miss too much but also aren’t crazy about having hundreds of photos taken. We will have a 1 hour welcome/cocktail party that is included with our package... I heard about the catamaran and other activities to do, if anyone has pictures or advice regarding this we are open on whether to change the cocktail/welcome party to something more fun. Any additional advice is always appreciated Thanks everyone! <3

Hey Everyone. Just got engaged the beginning of December and have started planning once we decided on getting married in Cabo. I've fallen in LOVE with the club house at Cabo Del Sol for our venue and will get bused probably from our resort for the wedding. I've emailed the website but of course haven't heard back from anyone. Does any have contact info for the event planner at Cabo Del Sol? Thanks so much xoxo Ashley

Since both FI and I have close friends and don't have a particular best friend, we've decided to have a competition to choose the MOH/Best man at our resort. We're planning to have it at the AI resort during our wedding week and coupling people together to do multiple competitions until there is one couple standing. I want both mental and physical challenges. I was thinking of having a flip cup competition, some kind of logical puzzle to solve, and maybe a picture scavenger hunt, they offer paddle boarding at my resort so was thinking of jousting on it for the final competition but may be too risky.. Anyone have any suggestions?

Has anyone been following the recent news surrounding alcohol related incidents in Mexico... specifically in Cancun and Playa Del Carmen hotels. Iberostar Paraiso is mentioned, but incidents have been reported at other resorts too. Some theories are indicating hotels are served bootleg alcohol and/or have deals with local hospitals to extort money from guests. I've had a few guests contact me regarding some recent alcohol-related incidents in Mexico and I've reached out to our hotel, Azul Senstatori, but haven't heard back yet. http://www.jsonline.com/story/news/2017/07/20/all-inclusive-resorts-mexico-suspected-drugging-tourists/490429001/ http://www.cnn.com/2017/07/27/us/mexico-state-department-alcohol-warning/index.html http://mexicovacationawareness.com BE SAFE!

I know this topic is going to strike a chord with many brides… We are getting married in Riviera Maya. We decided to have no bridal party as our guests are spending a great deal of money to travel to Mexico and we don’t want our friends and family to spend more on bridal party costs. I’m inviting many of my girlfriends/sisters to join me in the bridal suite the morning of the wedding- a care-free and fun getting ready party for everyone! I know the resort provides a day of coordinator for the wedding. What I’m thinking is I may ask one of my best girlfriends to act as our day of coordinator, and be the resort’s “go-to” for all questions regarding our wedding. I have a very special friend in mind; she is coordinating with several other girlfriends are working together to plan the shower and bachelorette party and she keeps asking me “how can I help?” I’m not expecting this person to help me pee or fetch things for me or be my “bridal b*tch” – I would just be asking her to make some decisions or answer questions from the resort/guests if needed. My FI and I both totally trust this person to make decisions on our behalf and she’ll ensure we don’t get hit with any fees or surprises. And honestly, I can’t imagine there’ll be much since the resort has the whole ‘wedding day execution’ down pat. I am absolutely planning to give her an amazing gift, to thank her for her help and include her in the program. (I’ve thought about paying a portion of her travel, or something similar) I cannot handle the term “personal attendant” because she is not! She’s an amazing woman who we know can make calm decisions under pressure, who is organized, super friendly and just overall amazing. She’d be a Bridesmaid if we were having a bridal party, but that’s not an option. Has anyone done something like this in the past? Any ideas on what to call her?

A Visit to Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya: A Luxurious Oasis
MarieSamSanchezPhoto posted a article in Locations
The minute you step onto the Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya Resort and Spa, you instantly feel like you’ve been whisked away to a special place. Located a little more than hour away from the Cancun airport, Secrets, which opened its doors in late 2015, is located in the town of Akumal — the Quintana Roo’s best kept secret, where warm clear ocean water flows in abundance along the powdery Akumal shores. It’s definitely for those looking to get away from the busy city-feel of Cancun or the festive nightlife that thrives in Playa del Carmen. Rather, Akumal is a place for those wanting to completely unwind and enjoy the natural surroundings. From its lush landscaping to the feeling of total serenity, this all-inclusive resort offers its adults-only guests a space to enjoy delicious cuisine at one of the six gourmet á la carte restaurants, a grill, a buffet and a café where reservations are never required, lounge by one of the more than 10 pool areas, rejuvenate your body and mind at the world-class spa or simply bask in the sun all day long on Akumal’s Bay’s incredible beaches. With 434 suites spread throughout the grounds’ lush and picturesque landscaping, everything is conveniently located so you never feel too far away from anything. But even when the property is at full capacity, the amenities and rooms are spaciously spread out enough that it never feels like the resort is overcrowded or too busy. You can experience true relaxation here with the perfect dose of peace and quiet. While the pools offer a great way to soak in the sun, Secrets Akumal is also located on one of the best beaches in the area. Akumal Bay is a local favorite, where you’ll enjoy the warm clear azure waters and if you’re lucky you may also happen to run across a turtle or two during your ocean swim -- after all, Akumal means "place of the turtle." The pristine beach is great for swimming, snorkeling and for those seeking more adventure, diving is also offered. If you opt for preferred club access, you’ll also receive daily access to Secret’s incredible hydrotherapy pools located at the resort's Secrets Spa by Pevonia. Aside from hydrotherapy, the spa also offers other services such as body treatments, facials, manicures, pedicures, a full service beauty salon and the fish foot treatment — something everyone should try at least once! When it comes to weddings, Secrets expansive grounds offer plenty of picturesque locations for couples to share their I Do’s. From gorgeous garden settings, incredible indoor options to a magnificent beach setting — this resort has it all. And of course, the delicious food at this property is something the entire wedding party can enjoy! Aside from the amenities and entertainment options onsite, this resort is also conveniently located close to the Tulum ruins as well as the thriving nightlife in Playa del Carmen — so you’re never too far from nearby adventures. Secrets Akumal is the perfect place for a luxurious and relaxing getaway for friends, lovers or family! Hi – My fiancé and I are on the hunt for a non-beach destination wedding. We estimate about 40-50 people in attendance from Mexico, Canada, and the United States. We are leaning towards fall 2018. We narrowed our search to Mexico, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica based on locations with non-beach based venues. I loved Rancho Santana in Nicaragua. However, I fear the rest of our family (and many of our friends) just are not adventurous enough. I love a lot of the smaller hotels in Arenal, Costa Rica. We came across Playa Fiesta in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. It offers a non-beach based venue. It is a small hotel that allows us privacy and intimacy. The reviews are also pretty incredible. I really have not found another venue that can offer as much as Playa Fiesta. We are really thinking of booking Playa Fiesta. Anyone have advice or suggestions for someone beginning the process of planning a wedding in Mexico / Puerto Vallarta / Playa Fiesta Hotel? Thank you, N

Also I would love to see photos of destination wedding dresses what is your dress inspiration? Hello everyone! I am a future bride and overwhelmed with the madness and lack of communication with my wedding coordinator in Mexico. I found out a month ago, I cannot hire a makeup artist to do makeup in my room. Any suggestions in the Playa Carmen/Cancun area that's familiar with makeup on black women? Also, trying to decide if having a private dinner on the beach or going off the resort for reception dinner is worth it. My group will be just 12 people. I need any input.

Hello, My future husband (!) and I are researching all-inclusive resorts in Mexico. We're between Moon Palace, Dreams Tulum, and similar resorts....our question is really through negotiation. How much wiggle room is there when negotiating with a resort? Is the price THE price? We're trying to keep our wedding under a certain price but the numbers add up quickly!

Hi everyone! I am starting to plan our future destination wedding (thinking February 2018). We come from opposite coasts of the states so Cancun seemed like the natural caribbean location (easy to get to for both sides and relatively affordable). Question I have - are there any good starting places/resources/links on info for prices etc? Or anyone have any of their price experiences to share? I really want to get a ballpark on how much this might cost us before planning everything and realizing it's too expensive. I've stayed in ME Cancun and Paradisus Playa Del Carmen before and loved both (modern, nicer, relaxing) so would be interested in something like that (not a huge fan of the old fashioned resorts).

Dear Rachel (Infinity Weddings), Miguel and I cannot extend enough thanks to you for coordinating our wonderfully romantic wedding in Los Cabos. Your hard work and care ensured that our day was enjoyable and STRESS-FREE! All of your hard work did not go unrecognized. My guests are still raving about every aspect of our wedding and our welcome dinner (sunset cruise), they were exactly what Miguel and I envisioned catering to all our guests. Through planning in the early stages to every last scheduling and detail down to the minute was perfectly executed. You constantly reminded me of important details and due dates and stayed on top of vendors ensuring that they were on time and provided quality service. On the day of the wedding, Rachel and her team were onsite to be sure every detail (of which there were many) was implemented perfectly from start to finish. Rachel, you have all the qualities every bride would hope to have in a wedding planner - creative, detail-oriented, reliable, organized, compassionate, professional in every sense of the word. To say the least our wedding day was picture perfect thanks to you going up and beyond for us. Every part of our day truly exceeded our expectations. We are beyond grateful and blessed to have worked with you Rachel. You truly enjoy what you do and I did see it in your eyes and smile throughout our wedding day, it was a joy to witness that. Miguel and I would like to extend our utmost gratitude to you, Rachel, for your expert help in making our special day one to remember for a lifetime. She is THE BEST wedding coordinator in Los Cabos! This is her wedding coordination website: http://www.infinitycabo.com/ Claudia and Miguel Martin *Catholic Wedding / Cocktail Hour / Reception all held at Sheraton Grand Hacienda Del Mar. Hi everyone! This site has been so very helpful with so much of my planning! So thank you! For brides that have traveled to Mexico from the US, has anyone had a problem taking dried eucalyptus? My TA said it could be a problem, but we want to take our decorations to save cost and I really want to utilize eucalyptus in my centerpieces with the sola and silk flowers.

We got married at the Grand Sunset Princess on June 20th, 2015. The majority of our guests stayed at the Platinum Yucatan Princess hotel (adults only) but the wedding took place at the resort next door. We had two families attend with their children. Guests staying at the Platinum Yucatan Princess have access to all three Princess hotels. It was a perfect day. I’m struggling to combine the right words to accurately express how blessed, grateful and elated we feel. We keep replaying our wedding week in our heads and we know that it was a unique, epic, ‘once in a lifetime’ event that we will never forget. I truly enjoyed myself. I was in the moment and as everything was happening around me I knew it was an epic experience. I took in all the love and really felt it. A few days to ourselves June 13-17 We decided to leave a few days before the group and I can’t say this enough, but it’s honestly the best thing one could do. We had time to unpack, set up, meet with vendors, run some errands. When our guests arrived we were ready for them and were ready to spend time with them. I can’t even imagine arriving at the same time. I would feel like I was constantly trying to catch up. Sunwing Vacations We were lucky that they cancelled our Sunday flight and rescheduled it to the Sat June 13th. We stayed one extra night at the resort courtesy of Sunwing! Yay! Our group rate for our guests with a price drop was $1250 double occupancy. The rooms were gorgeous and our guests were very happy. We received 1 free trip for every 10 people. We ended up receiving two free stays. Since we stayed for 11 days and upgraded our rooms we ended up paying a difference of $1600 for both us. Well worth it though. We received a free upgrade to Elite Class which included 30kg each + 20kg each just incase. Our travel agent was able to negotiate this for us. It helped us out a lot indeed. PACKING We ended up bringing with us 4 luggages, 2 large carryons, suit, dress, and my sister brought 1 luggage for us an another BM brought another luggage for us. NOTHING BROKE!!!!! And we didn’t lose anything. We cleared customs just fine. We got the green light, literally, and off we went to the resort. All my tumbler packing tips I received from @@calgarybride2015 CHECK IN We were so impressed with the hotel when we arrived. It was so pretty and luxurious. Our check in went smoothy and the concierge staff was really excited for us as they knew we were getting married. They upgraded our room by one category. The hotel was fully booked the entire time we were there. My sister also travelled with us and she booked a swimout platinum room. The room was stunning. Her room was ready as soon as we checked in at 10am. Our room was ready at 3pm. We left our bags in her room and went over to the buffet. We checked in on June 13th and the rest of our guests check in June 17th. Nobody had any issues with their rooms. Nobody had to make any changes. It worked out perfectly. The guests that were there for R&R somehow got the rooms with the swimouts that were further away from the party pool. The party crowd had the rooms close to the party pool. Our group was quite loud. The resort suddenly had life when our group arrived. The nice thing about the rooms close to the party pool is that you couldn’t hear anything when your balcony door was closed. Tropical Storm The day we arrived it was raining non-stop. The pilot announced that it was a little misty and that it would clear up by the afternoon. I think the pilot just wanted to make us happy and get us off the plane because that was far from the truth. The storm was actually a tropical storm category 1. It lasted from Saturday until about Monday night-ish. There was no escaping the storm either. We tried to drive out to Tulum and it was even worse there. We started getting nervous because everyone said that usually the rain passes but that this actually very strange. The staff at the hotel kept saying that it hadn’t rained for weeks prior to this…all things I didn’t want to hear. I was nervous about our outdoor wedding events because I kept checking the forecast and it kept saying, rain, rain, rain, rain… I finally cried a bit on Sunday and decided to just let it go. We made sure to work on all the last minute details and ironed out the things we needed to get done. Monday: We met up with Katy from Love and Lace. We rented quite a few décor pieces from her to personalize our wedding reception look. She was extremely patient and easy to work with. I truly recommend working with her. We had 6 luggages with just our clothes, and gifts, and welcome bag items, I can’t imagine bringing décor too. Meeting with Wedding Coordinator We met with the wedding coordinator on the Tuesday and she was very nice. We went through all the details and it felt very official. She went through the décor details and a few details with our ceremony. We added a few things and added a bit of a script for a ceremony. We also asked the officiant to do a ceremony in Spanish and English. I didn’t translate my vows but we thought it would be nice to have the ceremony in English and Spanish. Finally the weather turned and it was nice and sunny. Welcome dinner: The majority of our guests arrived the Wednesday and we booked a welcome dinner at 6pm at the Mexican restaurant La Hacienda. Everyone came out. We were worried people would be tired and it would be too rushed but it worked out fine. We decided to bring all our welcome bags with us. My dad arrived late as he arrived a little later so we gave out the bags as we waited for him to come down. The food was delicious and the guests loved the bags. They were so impressed with the details and snacks. I think everyone’s favourite items were the snacks and the hangover kits. Handing over those bags was like handing over a newborn. We were so proud of them, people thought we totally over did it , but we were happy to be able to do that for our guests! J Some of additions in mexico were candies from Sam’s club, post cards, sabritas (chips). Welcome bag fails: I had ordered plastic hotel key covers from a vendor on ebay and instead of mailing me the covers, he sent me 1000 grommets. Ya, no. We purchased small bottles and made labels for aloe Vera and sun lotion. We thought that we would be able to find somewhere that carries bulk sun lotion and aloe…but no. They sold them in the smallest volumes and they were still pretty pricey and though they were stores outside of the typical tourist areas. TBC....

Hi everyone! Newbie here! I AM SO HAPPY THAT I FOUND THIS SITE! I was having such a hard time getting info on average costs for a destination wedding in the Rivera Maya, so I hope to get some feedback here! We're getting married in October 2017 with a group of 35-55 people. I have NO idea how much the average cost would be. We're planning our budget and I'm thinking 6k is good (for the ceremony/music/decorations/videographer+photographer] [PLEASE TELL ME IF I'M WRONG] I want a super simple wedding, nothing crazy. My main concerns are: -Photographer/videographer: how much should I set aside for these two? I don't want to spend more than $1,500. [if you have any recommendations, please let me know] -Outside vendor fees: which hotels/resorts have low fees? -Ceremony costs for 30-55 people -Florist: does the resort provide floral arrangements or do we come up with this ourselves? If so, what was your experience like? how did you do it? -Wedding planner: DO I NEED ONE? I LOVE planning stuff myself. But is it absolutely necessary to get a wedding planner? If so, how much does it usually cost to get one? Here are the resorts I was considering: -Valentin Imperial Maya -Las Villas Akumal -Excellence Resort Isla Mujeres I want a small/intimate hotel/resort. I stayed at Sandos last May and I HATED IT because it was such a huge resort. I want to keep it small and intimate. If anyone has gotten married/plans to get married at these resorts, could you tell me about your experience? OR if there are any resorts you'd suggest, please let me know! Thank you in advance!

It is now 6 months until our wedding so I think it’s about time I started my planning thread. Like many of the beautiful and helpful brides I’ve come to know from this site, I thought that starting a planning thread would not only get me organized but also give me valuable insight and advice from you all. How we met: In 2010 after ending a very long-term relationship with my ex-boyfriend, my friend kept encouraging me to sign up for online dating. I won’t lie to you and I was very skeptical about online dating and thought that there was no way I would even try it. After months of hearing her stories about how much fun she was having meeting new people and dating men she would never have met otherwise, I thought, what’s the harm in trying. So in December 2010, I created my online profile. I will admit that dating again was fun. I had no intention of getting into another relationship; I just wanted to meet new people. Well you know how they say that things happen when you’re not looking for it? Well in less than two weeks, I received a message from Derrick that just said, “Hi. How are you?” I thought that was a pretty lame message but I looked at his profile. I thought he was really cute so I messaged him back. We were messaging back and forth and soon enough, we agreed to meet for a date. We met at Starbucks. I figured it’s a safe place to meet in case he turned out to be a creep! LOL As soon as I saw him, I remember the sigh of relief, he looked like his profile pic, but was actually cuter in person. Despite the usual first date jitters, we had a great conversation and it felt natural. After Starbucks we went to watch a movie. I don’t know why we went to the movies considering we talked the whole time. By the end of the night, I knew that it was the best date I’ve ever had. After that date we basically saw each other every day and he would text me daily to see how my day was going. I knew that we had something special and what proved it was when he went to Vegas for his best friend’s bachelor party. It was 3 am and my phone rang, it was Derrick. I got worried since it was early in the morning. I picked up the phone and he was clearly drunk. Before I could get annoyed, he told me that he loved me and that he missed me. There he was in Vegas with his friends having fun, and he still thought of me. Right then and there, I knew he was a keeper. The proposal: As a bit of a background, Derrick had asked me before if I wouldn’t mind if he used a diamond his grandmother had gifted him to give to his future wife. I knew how close he was to his grandmother (she had passed away before I got the chance to meet her). So during a trip to Puerto Vallarta with his family in March 2014, his sister and I were walking the Malecon and they thought it would be fun to go to a jewellery store to try on engagement ring settings for me. I typically don’t wear rings so I didn’t know what setting would look nice on me, especially since my hands are small. I instantly fell in love with a halo setting. So when we got back to the resort, Derrick’s sister instantly tells him what we did, just to tease him and he got up and said, ok let’s buy it. LOL So to my surprise, we bought the ring. But before buying it, Derrick told me that even though I knew what my engagement ring looked like (minus the diamond), he would still keep the proposal a surprise since I wouldn’t know when he would do it. As you can imagine, he had fun with that. Being the jokester he is, we would go out, tie his shoes and look up at me to make it look like he was going to propose. It happened on June 30, 2014 during our annual fishing trip to Ucluelet, BC. The weekend started off normal with Derrick joking around about proposing. Jokes included writing down "ring" on our list of things to bring to the island and Derrick singing "put a ring on it". On the last day of our trip, Derrick suggested going for a walk to the beach after dinner and go beach combing. Derrick and I love to go beach combing anytime we're on Vancouver Island. I told Derrick that his mom and I saw a beach that morning when we walked the dogs along the lighthouse trail so we headed in that direction. As we walked to the trail, Derrick kept asking me to walk on his left side, closer to the road. I made fun of him, joking that my friend's husband always walked on the side closest to traffic to protect her, meanwhile Derrick wanted to use me as his shield. Apparently he had the ring box in his right pocket and didn't want me to see it. I should have clued in on this but still didn’t even think anything of it. As we got to the beginning of the trail and looked at the map, I pointed to where we saw the beach. Derrick said he didn't want to go to that beach since it would be crowded. He suggested we keep walking to find a nice new beach that wasn't full of tourists. As we walked along the trail, Derrick pointed down the cliff and said, "Let’s go over to that beach, no one's there". He suggested going down the cliff using these old ropes tied to trees. I told him he was crazy and there was no way I'd go down old ropes, only to die falling off the cliff! So we kept walking and he eventually found a better way to go to the beach. To get closer to the water we had to walk and balance on what seemed like miles of rocks. In my usual "positive" vibe, I grumbled and complained the whole way. I think Derrick's favourite line was, "we're beach combing here? You know what we'd find under these rocks, more (insert expletive) rocks!" He would just turn to me, smile and say, "This is what I love about you, your positivity" When we finally got to the water, I had to admit that the walk was worth it, the view was breathtaking. On top of that, we were the only ones there! We climbed over rocks as Derrick showed me starfish, sea anemones (or what I call sea enemies" and more rocks (lol). After looking around, we sat on a huge rock and just looked out towards the ocean and enjoyed the peace and quiet. I heard Derrick say, "Jer", and as I turned to face him, I saw him on one bended knee, holding a ring box and said, "Will you marry me?" I said "of course" and hugged and kissed him.
