Hi everyone! Although I didn't plan on buying my wedding dress so early (15 months before the wedding to be exact), of course that's exactly what happened. I thought I'd check put a local bridal store's sample sale and my dress immediately caught my eye. I ended up falling in love with the first dress I tried on and still love it as much. So the bridal store has agreed to store the dress for me until spring of 2015 which was great but now my time is up. I'm picking it up next weekend and need your advice in the best way to store it. I was initially going to store it at my mom's but if anyone has been to a Filipino house, the whole house tends to smell like food. Fried food to be exact! It smells great but not the smell I want on my wedding dress. So we're going to keep it at our house and my FI has promised not to look at it. He's trustworthy so no worries there! But what's the best way to store it? Hanging or laying flat? Type of bag? Do I need to take it out to "breathe" and how often? I plan on asking the store but thought I'd ask my bridal friends for advice too! Thanks in advance ????

Ladies! I absolutely LOVE my wedding gown. It is all lace (I have yet to see any other gown with anything close to it), and is mermaid style. When I ordered it, I was between two sizes...so I went with the bigger size just to eliminate the stress of "what if it doesn't fit?!" Well, I've been shopping around for alteration quotes... my goodness! $500+! Am I just being cheap? That seems like a lot to me! But, I suppose it's because it is a very intricate lace...? Has anyone else ran in to this kind of expense with their gown?

So, I am planning on wearing a mermaid/trumpet gown for my ceremony and then changing into another (less expensive),shorter, less formal dress for our reception so I can really party and dance without being so restricted. Our reception is on the beach. I love both dresses and will have photos in both. I'm feeling like it probably is a bit excessive but the second dress isn't that much and I will be able to wear it again. My fiancé is fine with it because he knows how I love to dance. And he wants me to enjoy the reception as much as possible. Hopefully people won't think I'm being too much of a diva. If we were marrying at home, I still would do a change... Is anyone else doing this?

If you are flying, you can usually make arrangements with your airline in advance. First-class cabins have large "coat closets" that can be used for bridal gown storage. If they do not allow you to make these arrangements in advance, let the check-in attendant know you are carrying on your wedding dress and they can make special arrangements for you (like put your dress in the flight stewards closet). If your plane does not have a first-class area (on airlines such as Southwest), it is highly recommended that you package the dress in a large box and ship it to your destination in advance, carefully packed in tissue to hold its shape. Regardless of the method you choose, look into having your gown pressed at a local cleaner upon your arrival. Your hotel's concierge and/or wedding coordinator can help with this.

I bought this dress online and in a moment of indecisiveness, missed the return timeframe. My loss is your gain! I have an all white lace lightweight wedding dress for sale. It has a beautiful short train and has a zipper back. It's a size 14 and never has been altered. Comes with a silver sash as well but the dress can be worn without it. I only wore the dress once to try on, and it fit me great except in the bust area. I do have the pics from the original seller's site attached. Asking only $125 and the buyer pays shipping (U.S. only). My measurements: Bust 38" (dress was a little big for me around this area) Waist: 33" Hips: 43" I also purchased a pair of 3 in wedge heels online that I also changed my mind about last minute. They're off white (color shown), size 9, have a lace top outlined with rhinestones. They're fun and comfortable and have glitter! Asking only $20 and the buyer pays shipping (U.S. only). Let me know if you have any questions!

Hi ladies! I was wondering if anyone had any experience with the TEVOLIO bridesmaid dresses from Target? You can see them here: http://www.target.com/s?searchTerm=bridesmaid+dresses&category=0%7CAll%7Cmatchallpartial%7Call+categories&lnk=snav_ta_bridesmaid+dresses If anyone can provide any feedback on these dresses, that would be great! Like many brides on here, I'm trying to be as considerate as possible to our bridal party who are already spending the time and money to attend the wedding. Therefore, I'm trying to keep all other costs for them low. So in my search, I came across these dresses online. Any thoughts? Or does anyone else have BM dress suggestions that are under that $100 mark? Thanks!

Did anyone else have trouble picking their dress? I finally went shopping and I expected the 'awe' moment that I would know 100% that it is the dress. Well it didn't happen I am a very indecisive person. I have found 3 dresses and cannot make up my mind. It doesn't help that everyone I have showed the dresses to pick the dress that to me is simple...its gorgeous and perfect for beach wedding but I just feel like it's too plain on the front..but it looks amazing on. The other one I love...but then I can't decide if it's really the one either... so I went to another store and found a 3rd dress but had no one with me to get their opinion.. its very similar to the one I like.. I just can't decide I hate this! why am I having such a hard time commiting to the dress.. im scared to pick the wrong one....... I've attached pics..my boobs are falling out in the second dress because it was a little small and I'm still nursing so they are huge but will go back to there normal size before I get fitted.. so the pics are not uploading well..they make me look "squished" but at least you can see the styles kind of....

I am selling my wedding dress. Serious inquiries only. It is a beautiful Alfred Angelo dress. Taffeta, Organza, Rhinestones, Crystal Beading, Pearls, and chapel train I also had the beaded belt sewn right into the dress so it wouldn't interfere with the corset back. The dress is a size 14 but with a corset top so could go up or down a size. I did have minor alterations done to the dress. It was just taken up in the length. I'm fairly tall at 5'7" and wore heels (approx. 3inch heels). Can still be altered to be shorter. Serious inquiries only please. This is a beautiful dress. I would love to see it go to a bride who is looking for an amazing dress but doesn't want to pay original ticket price. Please contact me by email if you have any questions or are interested. I also have more pictures available if needed. alishav1982@@gmail.com

Hello ladies! I am in a need of honest opinions here please! I am getting married next year in beautiful Costa Rica on the beach !!! Something i always dreamed about The dress i would want needs to be light and airy and beach appropriate! I found 2 beautiful gowns, both by Watters ! As with any other bride, i want to look my very best on my wedding day and look amazing for the pictures ! I am trying to figure out which dress is best for my body and flatters me the most considering all other factors. Here are pictures of dress# 1. FYI- It needs to be taken in bust, tummy and perhaps hips? Also, i am fixing the neckline to be more of a "sweetheart" and getting rid of that floppy material, so take all that into the account! Also the belt is optional! Belt or NO belt? Dress# 2, also needs alterations. FYI- dress # 1 is with a long flowy train and dress 2 is more traditional A style gown. I appreciate some honest feedback! thank you!!!

The Dress Is the Focal Point of Your Wedding—do it Right!
alecgainesme posted a article in Style & Fashion
In 2012 weddings cost the average Australian couple a mind-numbing $54,294. On the other side of the pond, our American cousins spent an average of $28,082. Why the wide disparity? Are Americans less romantic…stingier…there must be an explanation. Just by keeping your expenses to the levels spent in the United States, you could save almost half on your wedding expenses. The breakdown for these expenses reveals that the most significant cost differences are in the amount spent on the honeymoon, rings and photograper/videographer. It seems our American counterparts spend about 50% less. We Aussies also spend a bit more on the bridal party attire, about 25 percent more. Considering the fact that we spend more for photographers and videographers, we should make that extra effort to look good, especially the bride! Why not consider less expensive engagement and weddings rings, using that money instead for a custom wedding dress? You could also cut back on your honeymoon expenses or perhaps trim a little from both. After all, the rings don’t show up well in photographs and you photographer isn’t joining you for the honeymoon. Custom made wedding dresses can be the centre of attention and the focal point for many priceless memories. Let me give you a few reasons why choosing a custom made wedding dress is an excellent decision. A custom dress does not automatically mean that you will pay a higher price than if you buy your dress off-the-rack Off-the-rack dresses almost always need tailoring which can set you back more than a few dollars A custom dress affords you the opportunity to have a one-of-a-kind wedding dress, made from the fabric you choose, in the design you have dreamt about with all the details, trim and style included. You are not ‘settling” for something that is almost what you want A perfectly fitting wedding will enhance your confidence immeasurably Custom dresses include features unavailable in off-the-rack gowns such as supportive spiral boning and waist stays, offering the bride unparalleled comfort Impeccable craftsmanship is the hallmark of a custom gown and heirloom quality adds immensely to the value Choosing a custom dress makes you part of the process which ensures that your gown will be everything you imagined and integrate flawlessly with your wedding’s theme With a custom gown, the worries of shipping, altering, bustling and final pressing are eliminated Are there any downsides…well yes, but they are few. First, you will be devoting extra time in the design and completion of your dress as compared to choosing one off-the-rack. The second issue is you will need to make your decision regarding a custom gown at least three months ahead of your wedding date. It cannot be a last minute decision for obvious reasons. Each of us has unique physical characteristics … some we wish to minimize and some we desire to maximize. A custom gown will allow you to resolve any issues you may have in this regard. Custom fit goes well beyond waist and bust sizes. As you make your wedding plans, consider the points made here carefully. While you may be fortunate enough to find the dress of your dreams right off-the-rack, there is an equally good chance that you won’t. When so much hard won cash is being spent for that memorable day, the wedding dress is the nadir of the occasion and should be your number one priority. As to our American friends, I am convinced they are just a bit more practical when it comes to wedding expenditures than we Aussies are. The rate of divorce in the United States may play a role as well. The rate of divorce in the US is significantly higher than in Australia. Maybe their weddings cost half of what ours cost because they need to do it more times to get it right … just a thought. -
The summer wedding season is in full swing, and while you're likely here at BDW for help planning your own wedding, you may also find yourself as a guest at someone else's wedding this season. If you have no idea what to wear or just like any excuse to shop, look no further than here! We've put together five complete outfits for a handful of common wedding locales and themes. 1. Beach Wedding For a beach wedding you'll want to look put together, but still casual. A maxi dress in a fun, bright color is a perfect option. Pair it with some dressy flat sandals (perfect for the beach!), a simple woven clutch, sunglasses, and a bright lip. 1. Victoria's Secret Knife Pleat Maxi Dress ($98) 2. 80s Purple Sunglasses ($12) 3. Penny Arcade Larger Than Life Lip Gloss in Raspberry ($26) 4. H&M Straw Clutch ($12.95) 5. Vince Camuto "Harissa" Sandals ($97.95) 2. Cruise Wedding For a cruise wedding, we like this strapless dress from Gap. The stripes are a subtle nod to the nautical setting, and we also found some adorable rope tie earrings that pair well with the theme too. Finish the look with coordinating navy blue wedges, pale lips, and a soft wrap if it gets chilly on deck. 1. Gap Sateen Strapless Dress ($54.99) 2. Madewell Market Tassel Scarf ($38.50) 3. Bobbi Brown Lip Gloss in Petal Soft Pink ($24) 4. Mod Cloth It's A-bowed Time Earrings ($9.99) 5. Claudia by Jean-Michel Cazabat Wedges ($195) 3. Cocktail/Evening Wedding At an evening wedding, navy is a nice dressed-up option that doesn't feel as heavy as black. This dress below, from Lulu's, has a fun sparkle detail at the waist and an unexpected peekaboo back that still manages to be classy. For nails, consider doing something different with your manicure and the sparkle polish we recommend. Check out our earlier article on how to add sparkle to a wedding for some fun ideas/inspiration for nails. 1. Lulu's Navy Blue Beaded Dress ($80) 2. Xavier Geometric Sterling Silver Drop Earrings ($79.95) 3. Banana Republic Kaylan Clutch ($89.50) 4. Illamasqua Nail Polish in Snap ($17) 5. Nine West "Glittering" Shoes ($89) 4. Garden Wedding If you're going to be outdoors in a park or garden setting, we like the idea of mimicking the surroundings in a playful way by incorporating a soft floral pattern in your dress. Since this dress and necklace are in bright turquoise colors, we paired it with a bright orange nail for a fun and unexpected contrast. 1. Blue Juice Speed of Light Bustier Dress ($125) 2. Zara Chain, Cord and Stone Necklace ($29.90) 3. Sephora Nail Polish in Hot & Spicy Orange ($5) 4. Zara Ankle Strap Sandals ($79.90) 5. Vintage Wedding Vintage Weddings are more popular than ever, and with the success of Downton Abbey and, more recently, The Great Gatsby, gorgeous vintage fashions are now easily found in major retailers. If you snag an invite to a wedding with this theme, consider splurging on this dress (appropriately named Gatsby) from Anthropologie. And how gorgeous are the art deco heels?! For makeup, nothing says vintage glam more than a deep red lip. 1. Anthropologie Gatsby Paillettes Dress ($328) 2. Forever 21 Pearlescent bead and charm necklace ($6.80) 3. Sephora Rouge Cream Lipstick in Dark Rosey Red ($5) 4. Boutique 9 Platform Evening Sandals ($112) 5. Bhldn Aigrette Clutch ($350) Did we miss any? Or do you have your own suggestions? Let us know by sharing in the comments!

Say yes to the veil! By Sarani Estrada You’re all set planning a destination wedding and you ask yourself: Should I wear a veil to the beach? Trust me: Say yes to the veil! No matter where you get married or how small the gathering, it is still your unique wedding day. When else will you have the opportunity to wear one -- besides Halloween, of course! For me, a veil is the epitome of being a bride. Idid not wear one on my wedding day and I still regret it. Of course, if you simply do not like veils, or feel they don’t go with your personality, then, by all means, don’t wear one. The most important thing is for you to feel comfortable and not like you are in costume. If you are considering a veil, here are some advantages: It makes you look thinner. Yes! It’s true, I have seen brides of all sizes and shapes wearing veils, and they are always flattering. Besides looking skinnier, it helps you hide unwanted features. It makes you feel special. I have heard it tons of times: “I don’t want to take the veil off!” “I want to sleep with it!” It is such a romantic feature. When the bride is getting ready and looks at herself in the mirror wearing her dress, she gets excited. But when she puts on the veil, she is transformed: That’s when she gets emotional. It is a great prop for photography, and here’s the part where I am an expert. Being a photographer I adore veils. When you are at the beach, there is nothing much going on besides the scenery, so an additional visual element is greatly appreciated. And it is such fun to play and be creative with the veil! Here are some pictures of my beautiful brides with some incredible veils: Sarani Estrada is the owner and main photographer of Sarani Weddings A specialized studio in destination weddings photography and cinematography, based in Cancun, Mexico. www.saraniweddings.com www.saraniweddingsblog.com

Hi!! Eloping to Jamaica this December!! I extremely nervous about what to do with my dress but my mind has been eased by other brides stating we can carry the dress on! My new concern!! Can I carry my bouqet on as well?!?!!!! A carry on suit case is going to be to shallow and I'm afraid putting it in a checked bag it would be destroyed by the time it arrived. Any brides have any experience with this. I was thinking maybe I could just let it stick out the top of my pocket book but dont want to run into issues with security and them make me leave it id be devastated!! Suggestions or experiences would be appreciated!!

December 2013 - Engaged! January - February 2014 - Trying to decide what kind of wedding we'd like to have March - Spoke with our Travel Agent & started looking into resorts and wedding packages April - Decided on Dreams Riviera Cancun & received confirmation letter for wedding date and package! - Choose wedding colors - Dress shopping April-May - Researched & Emailed photographers May - Booked Del Sol Photography! - Found my "something blue" (https://www.etsy.com/listing/119071866/something-blue-personalized-wedding?ref=sr_gallery_5&ga_search_query=something+blue+wedding+dress+label&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery) June - Sent out Save the Dates (we did an evite Save the Date to save a little money so we could upgrade formal invitations) - Decided on Passport Invitations & Boarding Pass postcard Reply Cards (http://weddingpassports.com/)! - Returned to dress shop to try on the two dresses I could't get out of my head... and said "Yes to the Dress!" Private Collection 18929 (ivory) July - Asked my sister and bestie to be my Matrons of Honor - Mailed invitations & reply cards - Ordered & received my barefoot sandals ....Now just waiting for the RSVPs to come in (guests have until December 30, 2014). We asked that guests book through our TA, as this will be their official RSVP (this request was included in our passport initiation). I figure this would be less stress on us, or I hope it will be. Once we have the official number, I will start ordering OOT bags/favors. My wedding dress should come in around November. So, unfortunately, there isn't too much to be done between now and January because I won't receive a WC until 3 months out (that's how our resort handles weddings, and frankly, I think that is a great idea - for their sanity and having to work with brides daily). I think we are going to use the in-house photographer for our TTD session, so I will book that when everything else once we have our WC.

Hello to everyone, I recently got engaged to my wonderful fiance, and am so excited to finally have found the love of the life. I am French Canadian and my fiance is American, therefore we must apply for a fiance visa. As some of you may know immigrating is an adventure in itself and can be quite nerve racking However it must be done, and in the end it will absolutely be worth it. The main problem with our journey is that it is impossible to predict how long it will take to go through the whole process, it could be as fast as 4 months, or as long as 9. Once my visa is issued and I move to the USA we have 90 days to get married. I'm sure most of you brides to be can understand this predicament! We will most likely have simple but elegant wedding on the beach in Southwest Florida, and I'm hoping we can do it in the off season, which would be as of April 2015. In the meantime I am starting to do what I can to plan. First thing on my list is my dress WOOT! I will go shopping in the next few weeks to try some on but I would really like to buy it online, as it is so much cheaper. If any of you have experiences with this your advice is more than welcome. I found one dress I absolutely love from http://www.dhgate.com/store/babyonline Has anyone had experience with them? I have read mixed reviews. So many decisions to make but so excting! Best luck to you all!
