Pros: Resort is very nice and they take care of everything
Cons: Windy on the beach and better $$ communication

My review of the Azul Sensatori resort. We were married on May 15, 2011. Overall, the wedding week, and day were AMAZING! I was very nervous going down but as I look back on that day it was so effortless and yes there were a couple things that went wrong but I didn’t really notice! I had the time of my life and it was exactly the way I pictured it!

Our Greeting: We were offered champagne and a cold towel upon arrival at the resort.  A staff member checked us in and walked us around.  She gave us a note that gave us information on our wedding meeting. I was allowed to change it due to we were on a snorkeling trip that day.   We met with the concierge to pick our scents for the aromatherapy and ask about the WIFI in our room. EVERYONE was amazingly wonderful and nice. They treated us like royalty.

Lomas Travel, Felipe and EDDIE. They were AWESOME! They took care of OUR whole group and really were there ALL THE time and answered every question. The drivers were great. Everything was easy and effortless. They even took care of a couple of our guests whose flights were delayed. They totally seemed on top of everything. Also when my brother’s flight was cancelled they brought him back to the resort from the airport (for a $40 cash) then re booked another van for him to get back to the airport the next day. (Extra Charge for this as well but it was the fact they really helped us out in what could have been a bad situation)

The Rooms: We booked a PREM swim up Jacuzzi suite for ourselves and it was Amazing! The Premium Area was really nice! The rooms are very spacious and beautiful.  Our room had champagne, roses on the floor and towel art to welcome us.  In hindsight we could have spent a tad less since we did hang out at the other pools with our guests more but we booked Prem to get a discount on our wedding so it was worth it $$ wise in the end. Our Guest were all in love with their rooms and 8 of them got free upgrades.

The Resort and Restaurants: The resort is Wonderful! The views are AWESOME and totally worth it. Every employee was very nice and went above and beyond. The private event dinners were really good and all my guests were impressed with the food. With that said I will say everything was neither hot nor cold. Be prepared that everything always seems a slight room temp. I avoided thing I know I like cold like milk and yogurt. Everything else was great. I also like that this resort gave you a house wine option in white red and rose. We had quite a few people say it was good wine.

Wedding: Set up fees are apparently based solely on # of people and how much you have to set up. I had next to nothing so mine was $80 total and I tipped the WC $50. I had 65 people. I really think they are making it up as they go along. I had next to no frills since I didn’t want to pay for them but all my guests said you really didn’t notice. The resort is so pretty I am glad I didn’t get all the extras.

Ceremony script ~ We used the resorts and our minister was great. I will say that we didn’t specialize ours that much and when my FI got up there she said do you want the long or short. Of course he said short and it was PERFECT for the moment but if you are really specific about your vows then I would make sure you are VERY CLEAR about it. We just rolled with it and the ceremony was great!

The beach was extremely windy

Salon services: I had my hair and make up trial and wedding day done at the salon. They ALL DO a GREAT JOB and their make-up selection is great. I brought my own make-up and ended up using VERY little of it  My husband got a massage and it was one of the best! He also got a haircut and said it was very well done.

Reception: The set up was plain but perfect at the reception.  That is the way I wanted it. The things I did bring were set up PERFECTLY. They did a great job with hanging the paper lanterns and String lights I brought.  They even put the lights in there for me. They put the Menu Cards out and out table numbers. One above and beyond extra was, I gave them place cards and in order for them not to blow away they came up with this little makeshift sand “box” to put them in. I didn’t notice it till half way thru dinner and it was perfect. They didn’t ask my opinion; they just did it which was great the wait staff at the wedding were great.

Notes: Be sure you bring cash in the form of $1 and $5 We took about $400 and used most of it between the people involved in the wedding, bartenders, bellhops, etc etc

I guess the big piece of advice I can give is all the things you worry about in the weeks leading up you will forget about when you get there and I started with a lot of décor and items and after toning everything down due to the budget I realized for me all that stuff would have been a complete waste of money since I had a very bare wedding but the resort location and natural beauty totally made up for it.

Thanks so much, I am starting to get nervous/anxious with less than a week left that I didn't spend enough on decorations but your review really put me at ease. Gorgeous photos!

Great review Maggie. I am going to have to take your advice, calm down, and just go with things. I am marrying the man of my dreams, so even if there are a few bumps in the road during the wedding, it will all be fine in the end. Thanks for all of your advice over the past few months. You've already started your happily ever after. You were a beautiful bride. I wish you and your husband the very best! I'm anxious to start my happily ever after next week!
