Pros: Beautiful location, great service, perfect wedding
Cons: Reservations at the a la cartes

We just got back from our wedding at the Paradisus Punta Cana. It could not have been more perfect.

We were dealing with Miguelina as our wedding coordinator. She is absolutely fabulous. Words cannot express how seamlessly she took care of everything. From start to finish, she was amazing. She even met us in the lobby when we were checking out to say goodbye.

Check-in:

We flew Air Transat from Toronto, Ontario and arrived at the PPC around 9:30pm on Saturday night. We came with 80 people, so this did take a while. As I read on this site earlier, we were upgraded to Royal Service. I knew to look for a sign with our names on it, then we would know if we received Royal Service and to go to a different check-in. I didn't see this sign (it is RIGHT at the front by the bell boys) so we waited in line only to be whisked away to another location to be checked-in. I didn't mind, but my husband was a little tired.

** The only problem we had the entire week was this: the wedding coordinators had bracelets made for our group with our initials and wedding date. Turns out, another bride came earlier than us and the front desk gave their group our bracelets and vice versa. It was a little disappointing because the bracelets would have been a really nice keepsake. **

Rooms/Royal Service:

Everyone in our group had similar rooms. They are clean and modern and are always fully stocked with beer, water, juice, and pop. We really liked our room. Since we had Royal Service, we had a butler, named David. He was amazing. He always made sure we had everything we needed. He even dropped off 2 of our guests' Welcome Bags, since they couldn't make our Welcome Party. David always made our reservations at the a la carte for us, even if they were for 20 people the same day, he made it happen.

I absolutely loved having Royal Service, but if you are not upgraded to it, I am not sure I would pay to have it.

Food:

There are more restaurants at the resort then you can eat at. We tried lots of difference ones, but my favourite was the Royal Service restaurant on the beach. It had great steak, lobster, and lamb. Really nice atmosphere too.

Beach:

The beach is stunning. There are LOTS of chaises and beds for everyone. The towel hut is right there on the beach. There are always waiters walking around offering to get drinks for you. I would recommend laying near the Gabi Beach Bar because you have access to food, lovely beds, waiters, the bars, the pool, and the buffet. Walking along the beach by other resorts, you can clearly tell that the PPC is the nicest one.

Wedding:

Our wedding was perfect. I rented the bridal suite to get ready in. I would definitely recommend it to any bride.

We got married at sunset (which is 5pm) on the beach. We then had cocktails on the beach. I thought we would be taken away for pictures, but we stayed on the beach close to our guests, which was nice because we still got to enjoy the Cocktail Party.

We chose the Aqua package, but chose all linens to be ivory. It looked beautiful.

We then moved our reception to the pool. It was great because it ended up raining for a few minutes. The pool offers you shelter as there are some cabanas. We also chose to add lanterns hanging from the palm trees. It was stunning.

We chose the buffet grill and it was great. Food was actually delicious!

After the reception everyone went to the Red Lounge up at the main lobby. We danced and ordered bottles of whiskey (my husband's favourite) and a lot of people got cigars and just chilled out. It was the perfect end to the night!

We had the onsite DJ - RS Entertainment with an included MC. Our MC Jonathan was awesome. The DJ played all of the songs I had put in my form we filled out previously. They were amazing and everyone loved the music they played!

Photography:

I CANNOT SAY ENOUGH ABOUT ARRECIFE PHOTOGRAPHY. We dealt with Taimir who arranged everything. She was honestly amazing. Such wonderful service and she was such a kind woman.

We got our photographer who was Joaquin. His pictures are the most stunning pictures. He was such an amazing photographer. He told us how to pose and really captured the look that I was going for. He also did our Trash the Dress shoot which also turned out beyond amazing.

Honestly, I would not even bother going with an outside photographer or wedding coordinator. The most memorable part of the wedding, for me, was our amazing experience with the in-house Coordinator and Photographer. Jessica (from the Miami office), Miguelina, Taimir, and Joaquin were such a pleasure to work with and made everything about our wedding perfect. Thank you to them!

Overall Experience:

Everyone in my party loved the resort. There was something for everyone. The only downside people found was with the reservations at the a la cartes. I would research these, then book them directly upon your arrival. However, they may still “lose” your reservation as even we got one lost on us, even with our butler booking it.

PPC was the nicest resort I ever stayed at. The staff were friendly (Danny Romero at the bar), Little Mike (down by the beach), and even the dealers at the casino! I am so happy we chose the PPC for our wedding.

Since we had 80 people, and stayed for the same amount of time as all of the other guests – I would strongly recommend staying another week. We didn’t get any romantic time for the two of us … but we are going back again for our one-year anniversary – that’s how much we liked the resort!!

** Correction - we had the Chill Out Chic package.

Also, I had a woman from the spa do my hair and she did an amazing job! I was really pleased with it. My cousin did my makeup.

Our ceremony was performed in English by the MC - we previously met the judge and signed, which was in Spanish.

I'm so happy to hear this review.  I have heard nothing but great things about PPC but nothing this recent.  We are getting married in March at PPC and you have really eased my mind...I'm curious as to know what your cake looked like and did you use the resort.  I'm only expecting 35 people but would like to know the size they offer you...or do you tell them what you want.

Thanks again and Congratulations!!

Hello, and congratulations!!

My fiancé and I also live in Toronto and are in the midst of trying to determine where to go/stay. Would you mind me asking how much your party paid to fly to/stay at PPC? I'd really appreciate it! Also, if you used a travel agent in Toronto, could you let me know who you used?

Thanks so much!

Hello,

Congratulations on your wedding...the pictures you have posted here are lovely! We really enjoyed reading your review...

My fiance and I are looking at having a destination wedding in 2015 and the PPC and the Dreams Resort & Spa in Punta Cana are on our shortlist...i was hoping I could ask you a couple of questions...right now, even though destination weddings are supposed to be a little more budget friendly, it is hard to get a real idea of how much a wedding could/would cost at PPC...it seems quite pricey as you even say but if it's worth it, well then it would be better to spend our money with the assurance that we will have the wedding we would like for us and our guests...

Some of the wedding packages they have posted are a little overwhelming to take in...do you mind sharing how much the actual wedding ended up costing you with 80 people in?

I see a lot of their packagest will include a certain # of guests and there is an additional charge as well for the dinner and or h'ordeurs?

You mentioned that you had the in-house photogrpaher - do you mind me asking how much that was and whether or not he was able to take pictures prior to the ceremony/reception as well?

How much was it for your guests to travel and stay for the week? Would you be comfortable sharing even a price range on what was offered to you?

Hope to hear from you soon...as we are hoping to make a decision very soon...

Hi. I am wondering if anyone can share some prices they had spent at this resort. We are planning our wedding for summer 2016 with around 65 people. We have added some things up and came up to about 35k. I feel we are still missing things and the price is getting expensive. Is there any suggestions or must haves?
