Pros: Great beach, Beautiful ceremony, Budget Friendly
Cons: A Few snafu's here and there - S trip

Our wedding took place on July 7th, 2013 at the Royal Decameron in Bucerias. Bucerias is a really nice little town across Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco. You just go over the state border into Nayarit and then you are in Bucerias. It is very cute and quaint. It gives you the beaches of Vallarta without all the people.

The hotel itself is amazing. It has everything you could possibly need. We ate at two of the a la cartes, Piccolo and Rodizio, and a lot of the buffets and the snack bars. The best a la carte is Piccolo by far. Our dinner on the beach got moved into Piccolo because they were afraid it might rain (although it didn't) and so we got lucky enough to have dinner here. It was our favorite dinner and one of the best nights the entire trip defintly recommend. The buffets however, are spectacular. There was always something new and delicious for dinner. Breakfast buffet was perhaps the best meal of the day. They always offered some mexican breakfast items as well as western. They had the best french toast I have ever had in my entire life!! I really enjoyed the beans and gordita's for breakfast as well. And for lunch you could never go wrong with the mexican section at the tortugas buffet it was always spectacular! I got lucky enough to have Birra (goat) one day and it was spectacular. When going to this hotel it is important to remember they do cater to Mexican tastes, so the food is not exactly what you may be used to, but try it its all great!

The bars were all wonderful! You could just take your own cup and they would fill it with whatever you wanted. The bartenders were always great at surprizing me with great new drink ideas. They really get to know you after seeing you all day for a week and its so nice. They don't have top notch liquor, but your paying $60 a night for unlimited food and drinks, so what they do have is awesome. They are always willing to mix up whatever you are in the mood for even letting me just toss out some ingredients and making something up for me. They are also super quick! Our room was in block #5, and we never had a line to get a drink. We could hop right up out of the pool and get a drink and be back in 1 minute.

The pools and grounds are wonderful. They are always perfect looking. No joke, they always looked like they have just been cleaned/fixed up and there are always people cleaning and trimming and mowing. Every morning we would wake up and look outside at 7 in the morning and people are just running around getting the place looking immaculate. The rooms are pretty basic, but they have A/C and that's all we cared about. They also had a huge stand up shower which I reallly enjoyed. I love a giant shower. We didn't use the safe, didn't feel the need to. There is security all over the place so you always feel safe. Our block #5 ended up being perfect for us. Yes, you have to walk to the beach, but it was the least busy block in the place. The pool there is adults only making it nice and quiet, and they are really strict about the adults only, making sure only grey bracelets are in the pool. Its nice and quiet back there, and you never had to move around to look for seats for your stuff. The other pools we noticed got very crowded at times, but if your going with only adults pool #5 is great.

The beach at this resort is awesome. There are sand bars out in the ocean that make it easy to hang out and just play in the waves. Good tip, if you go out in the ocean straight across from the volley ball net its the perfect sand bar. It made it so that I at 5ft tall could just stand in the ocean and feel very safe. I am not a good swimmer, and this ocean was nice enough so that I could handle it. The beach vendors are very typical and I actually look forward to it! I love the fruit on the beach. If you have never had it, get the pineapple they serve there. They are amazing. We ate everything they offered on the beach, but that is one of my favorite parts of going to the beaches in Mexico and a fond memory. We had the pineapple, coconut, chicharones, and shrimp on a stick. We also bought a blanket from a beach vendor that we really love. But, if you don't want anything, just wave them away and they don't bother you. And if your sleeping they don't bother you at all. Not a big deal to us.

One of the only cons of the hotel wasn't really thier fault. While we were there there was a group called "S - Trip." I guess it is a company that takes Canadian teenagers all over the world on senior trips. They were horrible. They were rude, loud, obnoxious, racists, and had no manners and were acting as if they had never been in civilization before. I literally got sat on by a drunk 18 year old. I also had to yell at a young man for saying racists remarks about Mexicans, in Mexico. If I was their parents I would be ashamed.

Now to the actual wedding. The ceremony was just spectacular. Gorgeous, drop dead perfect. They very nicely accomodated for our ceremony to be in both english and spanish which was a wonderful touch so that everyone could understand what was going on. We brought extra decorations as well, and our own chair sashes, but what they did have was wonderful. Our ceremony music wasn't working, they very quickly just played something else and it worked out.

Our reception got moved indoors due to a chance of rain, and luckily it didn't end up raining but the change actually turned out very nice. We got a private room in one of the buffets and it was actually cooler, and since it looked like a giant Tiki hut it was pretty awesome. We did have some issues with the decorations. They didn't light the candles I brought, and they didn't really do a great job at arranging the flowers we brought so my mother ended up having to re-do them all. They also didn't let us really have any say in the food. I ended up not really liking the dinner but everyone else did. I usually loved the buffets they just happened to pick the buffet items I didn't like that night I guess. We got the Dj package with the dance floor, not lighted because that's a waste of $500 extra haha. We wanted the Mariachi but in the end didn't get it. I am happy we didn't because we barely fit in everything we did as it is and we would not have had time to enjoy it. The cake wasn't to my liking either, but I knew that going in. I have never really liked Mexican cake. Everyone else enjoyed it though! They don't provide a lot of decorations so we brought a lot ourselves. But the service was awesome, and it was very pretty overall. Everyone had a great fun night and we were all dancing for hours. We ended our night with sparklers by the beach which we brought and it was so much fun. Claudio was very attentive and was always there if you needed him. He really did a great job.

Overall, I would recommend this hotel for a destination wedding. The price is just right so that a lot of friends and family can go. And they do a really nice job. The hotel is great, and the wedding was wonderful. Everyone told us that it was one of the most beautiful and most fun weddings they had ever been to. It was perfect for us and I if I had it to re - do I would come and do it here again.

P.S. We used our own photographer not the hotels - I am too scared to try a photographer without seeing his work first. Our photographer was CapturaImagen and he was great, and the pics were ready in 2 days at a good price.

Beautiful wedding Mayra! Just a quick question, how did you get in contact with them? I looked through their website but I don't see any info about weddings on it. Can you please pass on info for your contact person at Royal Decamaron, please? Thanks!
