I knew that the photos were the most important keepsake from the wedding. We looked through several websites and found most of the pictures to be very plain and basic. However, both my husband and I loved the photos on Caribbean Emotions' website. They came highly recommend throughout the blogs which was not surprising. All the wedding photos looked unique for each couple - not like the cookie cutter resort photos. They were flattering, simple, and not overly stylized.
Michael was very straight forward and easy to work with. He sent the package types with quotes but was also willing to work with us on the price and to provide exactly what we needed. I opted to just get the cd with almost 700 quality photos and a trash the dress session the next day. I highly recommend the trash the dress. It was so much fun and the photos look amazing. Michael gave us our photos in a cd two days later and also gave us the rights to all our pictures. I didn't even think of this. Apparently it can be quite the hassle to print photos without having the original rights to your own photos!
In addition, Michael took a lot of varied photos of us with each group of families. I especially like the fun group shots. He took the time to take pictures of everyone and also candid shots. I have been to other destination weddings where the photographer pretty much just takes one group shot and the rest are bride and groom only. So I really appreciated having a picture with everyone considering they came all the way and spent a lot of money to join us for the big day.
It honestly felt like working with someone I've known for longer than a few hours. :) Also after the trash the dress session, Michael told us that some brides actually leave their dresses in the D.R. Michael and his brother help out locals that can't afford to buy their own wedding dress by donation these to local villages. I'm having a reception here in Canada so I kept my dress. However, I thought this was such a great and for a great cause. It just goes to show that not everything is about making money.
Hope this helps you out when choosing your wedding photographer.
